the crust is just the outside of normal slices of bread and the end slices are the heels

i just read that wrong. i would clicked crust but i read it like a whole loaf and would call the ends heel.

A heel. The crust is the bit around the white/otherwise bit of the bread.

Edit: It's a Strathclyde thing.. I think other Scottish people voted differently.
