People say things on their VT all the time to get themselves into the house but he said he was going to be boring pretty much. Bonnie's VT where she said she was sexy and funny, she didn't come out of the car and say to Davina i'm not sexy nor funny? Does that make sense?

Manipulating the audience is at least as important as manipulating other contestants. He used his VT to present himself as an "everyman" character and the underdog, and to lower audience expectations. He's playing the strongest game so far, and it seems to be working judging by the number of supporters he has.

I prefer a HM not to try hard to impress the viewers than those going in saying they are going to "rock the house, stir things up" because usually they do no such thing.
