View Full Version : This episode last year
I've been watching the Saturday episode from last year and it's so sad to see how much better it was. This was the day last year when we got the whole "cheap primark shoes" argument between Gina and Sallie , everyone being hungover from the epic first night with the whole "you make my winkie expand" jokes between Sam and Jemima and so much more.
In comparison, I feel like this series has been very poor so far. I've been very underwhelmed by the selection of housemates and in my opinion, tonight was very, very bland. I started playing 2048 on my phone midway because of how bad it was.
It's a shame in my opinion that the show has taken a large step back compared to last year.

I preferred last years first few days also (& BB13s)
I had clear favourites & there were very clear characters from episode 1 [Gina, Sallie, Dexter, Wolfy]

But that was like the only good episode of BB14 and this lot have far more potential and complexity.

I liked the Gina/Sallie bits, but the rest of the series sort of fizzled out slowly after that. Give this one a bit of time to grow.

It's only been 3 days, and we've only seen two of them... give it chance

Yeah exactly! I had my top two picked out from Day 1 because of how captivating the auditions and launch were! And in hindsight the Michael the 'people's puppet' twist was amazing.
But I think my favorite thing was the diversity of housemates. Wolfy, Callum, Jack and Joe, Sophie, Sam - all these fairly relatable characters and then Sallie, Gina, Hazel etc who were banging with entertainment. The perfect balance.
They're relatable if you're fat, deaf and stink of fish, yes.

Yes. More relatable than people who have already been in the media to some capacity/models.

But the BB14 lot had largely been in the media too.

I agree; at least half of the housemates this year seem to have several layers, like Danielle and Matthew, and we haven't even had the chance to really see the true characters of housemates like Ashleigh and Marlon.
I think BB14's cast were more straight-forward whereas this year's are complex. The storylines don't seem predictable *as* this year either.

It is hard to have every series begin with drunk nights filled with arguments.. I personally prefer the way this series has begun, it's all relatively quiet at the moment but its perfect being able to actually get to know the housemates & suss them all out which i never felt i got to do last year.. plus it won't last, the arguments and controversy will come sooner or later and it will all suddenly turn from BB14 > BB15 to BB15 > BB14 when you come to terms with there not being any Welsh or Indian housemates and give it a chance.

Indian? :laugh2: I do admit though, there not being any Welsh housemates was a bit of a downer for me but definitely not the most crucial factor to a good series.
I can't @ how overrated BB14 is on here
The first 4 weeks where the only good parts it started going down hill after, Gina and Hazel's arguments kept it alive
I don't see how Sam saying he has boner is like a moment in Big brother history that's like the only ****ing thing he done and it wasn't entertaining at ALL
This series has lot's more good characters that could carry the series till the end

Well, i'm only talking about tonight's episode in comparison with the Saturday episode of BB14, so not really making an assumption about the whole series..

Nah this episode was just as good imo. The drama is moving at a slower pace but it's still interesting plus it's not just two housemates adding the only entertaining moment right at the end.

Bb14 also started off good then went flat when Daley left. I would rather things moved slower and the whole season be good.

Already we've established that Chris is going to be an outcast and that Helen and Tamara are going to be massive bitches. Pauline is letting the power getting to her head and it'll be interesting to see what happens when she no longer has the power because Matthew is coming after her. Danielle hates everyone except Christopher it seems so it'll be interesting to see how she copes as the series goes on as she's bound to flip. It's set up a lot in a short space of time and I'm intrigued to see how it progresses.

Bold = false
Pointless comparison tbh - they're completely different housemates.

Iconic and nothing from this series will top that episode alone.

I think it's good how I don't really have any clear favourites (apart from Toya)
Imo this means that a lot of the housemates are eligible to possibly be my favourite, this hasn't happened since the C4 days. The reason why we pick people out like Heaven, Rebeckah, Lydia, Deana, Gina, Sallie and Hazel is that they are clearly different from the rest. The thing about this series is that every housemate has potential to provide great entertainment which is why we're still making up our minds.
This can possibly be one of the best series ever and we don't even know it yet
Jake.

Yeah, BB14s first episode had far more drama, but this was just as interesting

As you point out Barker,I think the launch nights last year and the Saturday highlights show were far better than this year.
I found last nights highlights to be good and better than I expected they would be,however I already had more passion as to last years series by the first Saturday night highlights.
Although this is likely to get much better hopefully,I do agree with you particularly your saying as to last nights episode, that for me anyway the first 3 shows last year were far superior to this years easily.

The drama is there in BB15, and I think we'll see some of it tonight tbh.

although all of the drama started early last year (mostly because of sallie ), it doesn't mean that this series doesn't have the potential to be as great because from what I've seen so far I think it does, we have some great housemates and good storylines emerging.

I get what you're saying and I agree but some people will jump down your neck and want you crucified for saying something they disagree with.
If you disliked one episode then you must hate BB15 altogether in their world.
Strange creatures.
