According to numerous sources and one contact I have who works for the company, it is very unclear if Viacom are going to renew the BB contract.

My contact passed the following comment: "The viewing figures are disappointingly below what we were expecting, after the initial buzz in the recent January celebrity series. There was a sense and real hope that the overnight figures would of seen a nice boost.

Perhaps the promotion could of been better, but we are left a little concerned at what more we could of done for the fans to make the launch nights compelling viewing. The general feeling around the place is that the launch night on Thursday is among the best ever, either way, a Viacom director did come down to the studio's for a meeting with Charlie Gardner and David Flynn to see where the company/program is going, and to perhaps discuss other options/pilot's to air."

"One of my colleagues told me that when Big Brother was discussed, the initial feeling was that Viacom feel it's no longer fresh and could do with a break if not a permanent finale. So this could well be the last series to be televised...."

Read this on DS earlier and there was no source posted at all so I'm closing this atm.

Will reopen if a source emerges.
