Reports have claimed that ITV bosses are considering buying the rights for Big Brother.

The iconic reality show is currently airing its 15th series on Channel 5, but the broadcaster's two-year deal will expire later this year.

ITV is now said to be considering whether or not to launch a bid for the series to shore up its new channel ITVBe, which will launch shortly and be the home of franchises such as The Only Way Is Essex and Real Housewives.

According to The Guardian, ITV is unlikely to ultimately snap up the series because the rights are said to cost £20m a year.

However, sources have suggested that the idea has not yet been completely ruled out.

The future of Big Brother currently remains in doubt, as some parties have speculated that Channel 5 may focus solely on the Celebrity version of the show in the future.

It is also unclear how Channel 5's new owners Viacom - who bought the broadcaster for £450m last month - feel about the future of Big Brother, though it is considered a success for the channel.

Not only would it be dreadful on an ITV digital channel (not to mentioned censored to *uck [srsly this filter is ridiculous now] on any ITV channel also, look at I'm A Celebrity), but there's no way they'd buy the rights to Big Brother. It'd just be CBB.

Actually I'm beginning to worry now that the civilian series will even be renewed at all even if it stays on C5, we've all said it for years but I think the time may be approaching when they just opt for two (or God forbid even three) CBB series a year, probably four weeks long each.

Not ****ing here for another rebuild of the format just when Channel 5 got it down thanks.

Part of me would be interested to see a new channel try to reinvent it again.

But on a channel alongside TOWIE and that sh*te? No thanks. Not to mention the production values for it on a digital channel will probably be even worse, but also a new digital channel that might shut down if they don't get the viewers in.

But whether it's on channel 5 or itv, I find part of me doesn't actually care if they continue only with CBB. I'm just not that attached to civilian BB in its current form.

But then they probably would milk CBB for all its worth and put it on incessantly. Dropping it to one a year would be welcome.

They haven't got anything down. The show is about more than campness and showmances and watching a cast just to hate them.

ITV would be as bad or worse than CH5.

Dunno if ITV would want all the OFCOM complaints.

If ITV buy BB then it will become even more like a clone of TOWIE/Geordie Shore.

NOT GOOD. :nono:

To be fair the show has gone more down the TOWIE route the past few years.

I think we'll see CBB come back for sure. Civilian BB probably not. I know people keep mentioning the Viacom deal not having gone through fully yet but I still find it worrying we have heard nothing about a renewal for C5.

I'm staying in the mind frame for now that come September UKBB is gone for good. If there are any plans in place for C5 they need to hurry up.

They would never axe the Civilian series, The whole Brand of the show is called Big Brother they would never, The Summer CBB gets about the same ratings as the Civilian series they are much more likely to axe that, All of the BB fans who have gone with the show from the start would leave and Stop watching as well, what would be the point in Re designing a house for 3 weeks.

As for ITV I don't care people said it was going to be **** on C5 but it turned out well
