View Full Version : Power housemate or normal nominations/which do you prefer...
..I have enjoyed the power housemate idea and I think we’ve had two quite contrasting power housemates...with Pauline I think maybe a lot of people including myself may have felt quite differently about her if she had not been the one with the ‘power’ because I think having that power brought to the surface some really negative aspects to her personality right from the start and now I think her BB fate is kind of sealed because of that..and then there’s Chris who doesn’t seem to have been phased at all with his role or his power and has nominated quite a varied lot of housemates for us to choose from so that’s all good...
..but I do also miss normal nominations and the diary room chat which I think we’re not getting so much of because quite often the housemates would be shown in the diary room as a ‘paving the way’ to who they would vote for...any little insights they may have about other housemates etc..I wonder if we’re just not being shown so much or whether the power housemate thing has meant that the housemates don’t actually chat to BB..(and the public..) so much in a way of discussing and maybe ‘influencing’ because they know they won’t have a say in nominations ..whereas before there was always a hope that their nominated people would be up for eviction and so talking to ‘the public’ in the diary room was quite a big 'part of the game'...so on the whole I think I would rather just have normal nominations which have always for me been something to look forward to every week..not just who was up but what the reasons of each housemate was...what about you/which do you prefer..?..and if you can be bothered, a why for your preference..

I agree with you about Pauline, the difference between her and Chris was that everyone knew she had it. If they had known Chris had it, they would have all been super nice to him. Which is what happened with Pauline, she had a team of people be nice to her because of the power. I would have love to see what would have happened if they knew Chris had the power. Would it have gone to his head. You never know. Although he seems like the kind of guy who knows when people like him for him not what he can give them.

I liked it as something different, but this lot of housemates are so paranoid that it's been the only topic of conversation all week. I do miss the honesty of the diary room chats and I do look forward every week to see who is nominating who and why. I definitely prefer them all nominating.
I'm wondering though, if they keep the secret PH thing up, how are they going to prevent them from getting up for nomination that week if they do normal nominations? I hope they stick with the PH thing and put someone else up to take the heat off Chris and his decisions this week (even if it's Chris again). Most of them have seemed to taken this week personally instead of realising that the PH has been given the task by BB and doesn't have a choice in the matter. I'm also a bit annoyed at how this week has played out and how that's going to affect nominations in the future (especially if they start nominating Chris because they think he nominated them/was the PH even though he didn't have a choice).
So far it was kind of felt like Pauline as the PH got on the side of the people in the house and off the public's, and Chris as the PH got off the side of the people in the house and on the side of the public's.

..yeah you could say that they were being nice to her because of the power because there doesn't appear to be the same 'adoration' atm but that might also be because of the chanting on Friday and they realise her unpopularity with the public and maybe distancing themselves a bit..?..

normal nominations. nominations are one of my favourite things about the show, it can indicate who's two-faced, discover strange rivalries (eg. sophie and sam last series) and hear their reasons for their choice of nomination. I don't think it's right that one person alone should essentially choose who is eliminated, it's unfair.

Definitely prefer normal nominations with the twists being they're face to face or they all get shown them. Too much interfering with this PH nonsense. Just keep it simple and things will happen.

Chris's PH nominations were a great one off. Mainly because it was Chris that had them.
It would be less fun to watch Helen, Toya, or the likes of Marlon and Ash have the same power.
Normal nominations make more sense over the course of the show.

Normal nominations, however the Power housemates noms automatically get that person put up.

Happy enough with one weeks worth of PHM noms but for balance we need to go back to normal ones now and please please no face to face or family noms this year.
