Anyone that doesn't see that people love to hate on shows like this and dislikable characters keep viewers intrigued and that there are and have been direct correlations in the past between controversial housemates and events and increased viewing figures and social media/press attention, are sadly mistaken

What I am really looking forward to is when this series (which has got off to a brilliant start) inevitably quietens down because of the eviction order and people on social media and on here start complaining that not much is happening or that it's 'boring', that will be a real  moment

Thankfully we've not had to experience that for a few years but I can see it happening this series

Nearly 90% of the viewers want Pauline and Toya gone. The ratings aren't going to plummet when most people watching will be happy. You will have threads on here saying the series is done and that's about it. Besides we may see more from people who aren't taking all the air time just by being bitches.

Just because the viewers think they want something to happen, that doesn't mean it should. People love to hate, when they can't do that anymore they will lose interest. People don't consciously admit to liking watching hatable characters (because well that doesn't make any sense) but deep down they do. If there's someone to hate on, people will tune in to hate on them and long for their eviction

There are no viewers left to lose, there is nothing to worry about

Oh the nasty/argumentative housemates make the series argument

The ratings were **** at the beginning when the arguing was going on, funnily enough the big arguments have chilled (theres some normal bitching) and the ratings climb.

And people do love to hate, they love to vote off the people that don't deserve to be on their tvs as soon as they possibly can.

This same old tired argument is so boring now.

I didn't find the first few days boring in the slightest and I'm a fan of all of them, I actually thought it looked rather promising. There hasn't been an episode this series yet that I haven't looked forward to

Once again people seem to be making the mistake of thinking that the people who like these controversial housemates want to see 24/7 drama, I don't know how many times it has to spelled out that we aren't that thirsty and like civilised, intellectual discussions just as much as anyone else (a big reason why I miss the live feed)

As I said we haven't had a series where something like this has happened for a number of years, but in the past when most or all of the divisive housemates were voted out there have been threads on here appearing saying 'anyone finding this boring now?' or 'dull episode tonight'

There's a reason incidents like Fight Night, Denise/Shannon Twins, Daley/Hazel garnered a lot of attention

That isn't true at all, we get this argument every year as a defence for evicting divisive characters. 'Other housemates will step up, we'll be able to see them' and then 95% of them we get to see them and they're sh*te...just as they were before

When Sam, John James, Corin and Steve (lol) were evicted from BB11, people like JJ, Andrew and Mario didn't suddenly turn into wondrous bastions of entertainment. Those four or so episodes before the finale were some of the most painfully dull in BBUK history. When Charley and Chanelle left BB8, people like Kara-Louise didn't suddenly go into full on meltdown mode and get us all talking. When Sallie, Dan, Wolfy were evicted last year, Sam didn't finally start setting the world alight (granted BB14 managed to survive with the departures of some bigger characters because Dexter and Gina stayed around, but we got lucky)

It's basically an argument that we should gamble~ the housemates that are actually providing the discussions in favour of some other housemates that you never know~ might just step up and do the same after they've left. Why go out for burgers when you've got steak at home?

BB11 isn't a good enough argument, it was the final couple of days. The final week or so is always quieter, the housemates are exhausted and can see the light at the end of the tunnel and are all ready to go home so aren't interested in starting up anything or having meltdowns.

Name me one series with an explosive final week?

Even BB6 had a quiet last few days.

Most people don't like watching a show that is centered around a few women bitching constantly, which is why they always get evicted early on. Thats always going to happen when the most controversial housemates get evicted.. 99% of the time it'll be a fan of the housemate or housemates that have been evicted making the thread claiming they were the most entertaining housemate and kept the series alive.. a week later there will be new housemates that step up and then become the talking points.

There are 16 people in the house, anyone expecting every single one of them to be centre of attention causing trouble or bringing plenty of entertainment is deluded. When you've got loud gobby evil housemates like Helen and Toya around you 24/7 it'll make you cautious and it'll hold you back from doing things and saying how you really feel about things. Especially when they are being insulting about other housemates to you, you don't want to then do something wrong to be on the end of it. I can bet you if Pauline, Toya and Helen all left right now nearly every single one of them would feel like theres more freedom to express themselves in the house.

BB14 is a perfect example of a series starting out amazingly and going astonishingly downhill after losing its large characters. it descended into the most boring second half of a series I have ever had the misfortune of watching, nothing remotely interesting about showmances and love triangles. the forum was exactly the same last year as it is this year with its vocal hate for Sallie/Dan/Wolfy/Jemima.

It's SO frustrating for us hardcore fans who so desperately want the show to reach the level of quality it had in its good days. BB5/6/7 are only good because of their divides and conflicts and Toya/Pauline/Helen type characters as I've said many many times before. ash/marlon and co will never ever ever ever ever give us that kind of show. come on you surely don't believe there is an iota of interest about them.

and anyways since this discussion point bull**** is coming up again, I'll give my two cents since when do I not?

"Drama" in and of itself is not entertaining. The drama in question here is really just Toya screaming at someone. Drama needs to be in conjunction with something else (physical humor, righteousness, wit, etc) to provide any worthwhile talking points (**** THAT PHRASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD) and Toya is dearly lacking in that department

Has anyone ever told you you should be a comedian? No? Good.

It all set up for her to make an even bigger **** of herself and get evicted the week after to even bigger boos, brilliant :joker:

No, since the other Housemates nominated her to be Power Housemate so they like her and that's less chance of her being up

That doesn't make sense though? if it goes the way Toya fans have been wanting and they continue to have the power housemate in control of nominations then she may not be safe at all after her power ends?

You are wrong.

Why? They're not gonna vote for someone to be the Power HM if they don't like them, cos that increases their chances of being nommed. Toya is liked by the majority, and as long as the majority don't nominate her then she's safe.

She wouldn't have needed a massive amount of votes to get the power housemate status though?

Me, I do. I want a mix of nice and nasty. I'm not here for a show of people just being nice, that was BB4 and that sucked.

The majority don't need to nominate her to be up for eviction though. She'd need like 3 votes probably

I would love to know how everyone vote. If it was a tactical vote or an loyalty one. I could have sworn it would be Danielle. I though Kim, Ashleigh and Jale would have voted for them. Then everyone else I though was going to vote for their best mate. This is very interesting.

I don't think they can nominate the PH. They couldn't nominate Pauline when she was the PH.

Not really. They all had one nomination for PH meaning she wouldn't need many if a few others got one each, she'd need about 3 to be PH.

Then the following week she would need about the same if a little more to be nominated for eviction when everyone has two nominations to play with.

Maybe the housemates up for eviction will choose which of the power couple will join them in facing the public vote.

Definitely. They've not informed them they're not safe so it'll come at the end of their Power Trip when their nominees will get their own back.

Ash had a lot of potential, it's a shame he gave his balls to Helen to keep in her purse though.

Marlon is just a waste of space, the big foam head in the bathroom has, quite literally, provided more entertainment then he ever will during his stay.

Toya is bat**** insane but she's provided more to that house and she deserves to stay.
