The new Big Brother 2014 Power housemate will be decided by the housemates themselves, it’s been revealed.



Last weekend saw Chris R Wright become the latest Power housemate, taking over from Pauline Bennett.

But his Power trip was in secret as he went undercover and took over nominations.

This evening saw Big Brother gather the housemates to make a new announcement.

BB said: “Housemates, the Power will soon return to the house.

“However this week it is up to you to decide who the Power housemate will be.

“Today you will all individually nominate one housemate to become the next Power housemate. The housemate who receives the most nominations will become the next Power housemate.”



There were a few rules about the Power nominations: Like with the usual nomination process, each housemate will be called to the Diary Room and will nominate in secret.

They cannot discuss or talk about the nomination process or who they picked and cannot nominate themselves.

Housemates facing this week’s eviction – Jale Karaturp, Marlon Wallen, Christopher Hall, Pauline Bennett, Steven Goode and Ash Harrison – cannot be nominated to become the Power housemate.

Which leaves Ashleigh Coyle, Chris R Wright, Danielle McMahon, Helen Wood, Kimberly Kisselovich, Mark Byron, Matthew Davies, Toya A Washington and Winston Showan all eligible to become the next Power housemate.

As with those before them, the new Power housemate will have control over goings on in the house and will be able to influence the course of the game.

Big Brother continues nightly on Channel 5.

That being said being PH doesn't mean you get to nominate. So stay calm people. Even though she's one of my favs, I know next week it will be Toya.

Prefer it this way as well, much as I thought Chris did a great job, didn't want him getting the power week in week out, I would like them to do a task for it at some stage (obviously without them knowing that is what the task was for).

They've gotta mix up what tasks the PH gets every week so hopefully they stop focusing on nominations so much. A change was nice, but the dynamic of all housemates getting a say and the public getting the final decision is the best thing for the show. Im starting to get the feeling the PH thing is going to get boring and repetitive, and remove all the entertaining and important parts of the show.

But you don't tell the housemates, so they nominate as normal and they think there's no Power Housemate, then on the night Emma first goes to the house to tell them the results of the noms were fake and a PH nommed two people instead. Then you go back after they've digested that news to tell them it was the public and now they're going to have to vote one of them out

Crank the power up – there’s going to be a new housemate taking on the Control Room duties! Earlier today Big Brother told our lovely residents that THEY would be nominating the new Power Housemate. That’s right, after you guys decided on the status of the first two, the House became a kind of democracy as the bungalow residents individually slipped into the Diary Room to nominate their leader. They could choose anyone who wasn't currently up for eviction. The results are in. Drum roll please...
