Big Brother: Time Warp

So, it's been a while since I did a proper full project and I went back to the drawing board and I've come up with the idea of Big Brother: Time Warp. Since Channel 5 are sticking with the taglines, I thought Time Warp would be an ideal theme because it has so much potential. The theme gives a new meaning to Big Brother, and will create a few new twists and turns that Big Brother couldn't have done before.

The eye is based around the idea of Time and the clock in the centre moves around. The eye is designed to look old, which is why it's called Time Warp. The clock in the centre of the eye moves around etc.

2. Show Line Up

Big Brother: Time Warp returns with a full line up of shows to make sure viewers have a jam packed line up of Big Brother.

1. Big Brother: Time Warp

This covers the HL's show and eviction shows. Big Brother will have a solid consistent slot on Channel 5, with only the eviction show being different. The highlights show airs for 60 minutes, and the eviction for 90 minutes - as it is now.

2. Big Brother's Bit on the Side

Big Brother's Bit on the Side returns, and the Sunday show returns alongside it. The show will air directly after Big Brother every night, with no break between the two shows. Bit on the Psych is the Saturday edition, and is listed separately.

Big Brother's Bit on the Psych becomes a more serious show, with more psychological debate and guests. It also becomes more frequent, with a show airing on Wednesday, and Saturday. Bit on the Psych's Wednesday edition will only last 45 minutes, meaning it will air until 12:30am.

4. Big Brother's Little Brother

Big Brother's Little Brother returns after 4 years, with a 6:30pm slot. The show is much more family friendly than BOTS and keeps everyone up to date with the latest news from the House. There is no BBLB on Saturday.

4. Big Brother's Bit on the Side Studio
With the new series, Big Brother's Bit on the Side has been given a well overdue make over. (Let me just make the point that Studios are not my strong point.)

The curved stairs for guests to enter still remain, but the platforms have been raised and the studio flipped. The sofas are for interviews with guests and the evicted Housemates, while the panel has a spot just next to the sofas. Digital still remains outside of the studio, however there will be one desk in the studio for a member of the digital team to keep the presenters up to date with Twitter/Facebook - as they will have more interaction throughout the shows.

ew... Can you explain why you've raised the whole studio by about 2 ft. This whole set looks gaudy, unprofessional and unrealistic. Would love to see you design a new set, that could realistically be used.

These are my reasons why:

Random wood desk that doesn't fit anything in the studio
CLOUDS. (or smoke.) either looks bad behind the eye. You could've been more creative with the background.
Er... One of the record-style clocks isn't even properly on the wall... It goes through the frame....
The clocks altogether. Cover the wall with them or don't use them at all.
The BBLB/BBBOTS switchover, I know you could swith the colour of the LEDs but what's the point of changing the sofas after everyshow? That would be a lot of hard work. Are you sure it would be a good idea? Don't you think there should be 2 seperate studios like there was on C4?

That's the point. The house is a mismatch of things from the past/future. It's a Time Warp.

The clocks on the wall, are for a small part. They're in the house and I put them somewhere in the BOTS studio to link in the House.

Changing the sofas isn't hard work, and that's why companies and shows hire people to do jobs like this. OK!TV did it when they had their show in the Bit on the Side studio back in 2011.

There is steps down to the audience so Emma and Rylan can have easy access, as well as steps up to each level of the audience.

That's fair enough, like I said, studios are NOT my best thing, and I hate designing them. Just don't stop viewing when the House comes along, because it's not like this. The BOTS studio is trying to have parts of the House involved, understandably it didn't really work.

This is no reflection on the way the House works, and I've worked extremely hard to bring it up to a very high standard.

5. House Teasers
Big Brother's idea of a Time Warp comes into play when the Housemates walk into the new Big Brother House.


There is just one staircase, and it's dark.
The Living Room present the Time Warp theme, and is a mismatch of present/past
The kitchen may cause some arguments

The Bathroom is perhaps the only relaxing room in the House

6. Big Brother House: The Exterior

As with my previous projects, the exterior stays basically the same - I've used the exterior from my other project and adapted it to this project. I don't really want to do anything with the exterior because I like the eye stage. The main House is the important but anyway...

Standard C5. Eye stage/door for Housemates entrances. Catwalk and podium for Emma to present, stairs are straight down instead of curved and there are some clocks to represent the theme of Time Warp.

7. The Big Brother House - The Stairs

The Stairs to the House aren't the most welcoming set of stairs the Housemates will see in their lifetime. Alongside the time warp wallpaper that covers the top of the stairs, there are two large mirrors where the Housemates will see themselves distorted and warped, so no more final checks before they enter the House - as when they look, they may look short, fat, long, thin...

As they make their way down the stairs, the wallpaper is replaced by neon strip lights to welcome them into their new home. These strip lights can change colour and will do for evictions, where they will turn red. They are cramped... but will they welcome the Housemates into a home of luxury?

8. The Big Brother House - The Living Room and Dining Area

Big Brother will bring the theme of Time Warp in the House. The furniture is dated, and some is quite basic. The sofas are leather and white, and are surrounded by clocks - to bring in the theme of Time. The lightboxes for Housemates faces are present at the side of the sofas. The fireplace in the centre of the sofas isn't just a fire place, and is used for something much more significant.

The Dining Table is basic wood, with enough space for all of the Housemates. Big Brother has however installed a very strange feature. Opposite the sofas and dining table is a piano, two book shelves and a desk and chair. The book shelves don't include real books - and one is a secret passage to a... not so nice room. More will be revealed soon. Why has Big Brother installed a Piano however? Is it a real piano? And what is the desk and chair doing there?

9. The Big Brother House - The Kitchen

The Big Brother Kitchen is one of the present day rooms of the House. The Kitchen is a modern red, grey and black themed room. It's smaller than usual Big Brother Kitchens but allows some Housemates to gather and cook a meal for the entire House. There is plenty of space for storage and there is even a double oven for them. There is a large double fridge freezer installed as well as burners.

Big Brother has also installed two plasma screens into the Kitchen, for the delivery of secret tasks to Housemates in the Kitchen... or cooking instructions.

Not really a big fan of the lounge. It just looks real generic. Also think If you had of filled one wall with clocks completely, and used it as the main feature and left the purple walls alone it would look much better.

10. The Big Brother House - The Bathroom

Big Brother's Time Warp takes Housemates back into the present day with the bathroom. It is a calming wooden room, with luxurious seats and a large eye shaped bath.

The bathroom boasts a purple and white design alongside the wood, with modern sink areas. Big Brother likes to remind Housemates that there is nowhere to hide, by installing the bath to be the shape of the eye, and having a light-up eye on the wall. There is no shower in the bathroom - only the bath.

11. The Big Brother House - The Garden

This is probably the part of the House I'm most proud of. As the Time Warp theme continues, we move into the garden of the House. Yes, in ways it resembles the Power Trip garden, but there are differences.

The Garden is the first futuristic part of the House. As well has having astroturf, there is white astroturf to resemble space in some ways. It is a large space but is quite empty. Big Brother has installed plants to bring a little life to the garden. The perimeter of the garden is surrounded by light up straws that flash and change colour. The black sofas are there for Housemates to gather and chat, while the small chair and sofa opposite are for the smokers.

The pool is also present and is one of the biggest yet. It is raised by some decking and has some blue doughnut chairs surrounding it. The smoking area has a screen behind it which is switchable, and become see through. So what is Big Brother hiding behind that?

I really do like this design and IMO it's one of the best on here in some time. The trouble I have with all TiBB designs though is that due to the habit of slowly unveiling it which is the common practice here I kind of forget what came before - obviously you can go back and remind yourself but it can make projects become a bit disconnected from the original posts.

Struggling to fault the house at all though - but would be useful to see a house plan just so we can our head around how it all connects together. I would say though considering how good your house is I think you could probably be a bit more creative with the front of the house set up and the studio.

Ah, I've got a House plan actually... I'll post it for you beneath the spoiler, because you see the two secret rooms and stuff. It's just an overhead view of the House in X-Ray mode, but you can easily see where everything goes and what's connected.

12. The Big Brother House - The Bedroom
This year, there is no large luxurious bedroom for the Housemates to gather and relax in, instead there is a small cramped and cold space designed to make the Housemates spend as little time in there as possible.

To access the bedroom, Housemates need to go outside into the garden. The Bedroom is covered in sharp angles, cold blue colours and wooden textures - even the beds have spikes on them! There is one built in wardrobe for the Housemates and a few storage spaces.

It's time to reveal Big Brother's Time Twist!

13. Big Brother's Time Warp Twist
This series, Big Brother is taking the idea of Time Warp to the maximum. Big Brother has installed two secret rooms into the House this year, there is the time controller and the Void.

The Time Controller
The Time Controller is Big Brother's new idea of the control room. Two Housemates can access this room at one time, and whoever gets the power to control time will be selected by the public. Inside this room, there are lots of screens which let the controllers watch the Housemates. They also have the power to rewind footage, pause or play. Inside this room the controllers will decide which three Housemates are unfortunate enough to live inside The Void. They will also have control over the series twists and turns.

The Void
The Void is Big Brother's secret room. Hidden behind the bookshelf in the living area, this room is white, red and basic. There is no luxury. There is no leaving the void either. There are two single beds and a circle sofa. The Void Housemates will not be allowed to leave the void, and even have their own Diary Room and small bathroom. There is also a screen of switchable glass, which Big Brother controls. For example, if the main House is having a party in the garden or taking part in a task, the glass will change and the Void Housemates will be able to look into the garden. This could also be used as an advantage.

In a difference to the other rooms in the House, the mirrors are long and continuous, meaning there is no break in the camera run.

The Void Housemates will be given chances to escape this room, but if they are in they have the following removed:

Suitcases: They have clothes provided by Big Brothe
Nominations: They will not be allowed to nominate, or Big Brother will play a trick on the main House and only allow the void Housemates to nominate
Food: Big Brother will deliver food to the Housemates via the Diary Room
Time: Big Brother will mess around with the Housemates concept of time. Big Brother may wake them up in the middle of the night, but say it is morning, deliver food at strange times or even turn the lights off to sleep.

14. The Big Brother House - The Diary Room
The Diary Room is behind a wall of neon strip lights. The lights change red when the door is locked, green when open and then blue when available. Inside is a throne type chair, with screens behind it which simulate a time vortex

Celebrity Big Brother

Celebrity Big Brother is scrapped in the summer, and returns in the January with a new series. The series would last 27 days and the House would be re-decorated in places, but maintain the same layout - with minor adjustments.

Exterior:
The exterior remains basically the same, just a star podium is now installed and a red carpet has been put down for our celebrities.

Stairs:
The stairs remain the same as before, but this time the strip lighting goes all the way to the top of the staircase. The stairs also have a purple strip down the middle, and a brick texture.

Living Room:
The brick texture continues in this room, but this time there are pillars around the room as well as some wallpaper - the same as the summer. The floor is covered in a white carpet with purple streaks, and some lighting has been installed into the walls. The sofa area has been changed to a smaller area with white sofas and a throne chair.

The dining table is now round, and is surrounded with the purple carpet - all the streaks lead to the dining table. The living room is now also home to the celebrity gym, which has the equipment that the Housemates may need - it is housed in the old "Void room" from the summer House.

Kitchen:
The kitchen remains virtually the same as the summer, with just a few minor changes. The kitchen units and cupboards are now grey, and a stone texture covers the walls. Big Brother has also installed a small breakfast bar for the Housemates to sit and chat as the others cook. The store room is still in the kitchen, and the door to the time machine is still there, but now leads to a task room - which has been brought inside due to the weather.

Bathroom:
The bathroom is also another room that hasn't really changed much from the summer House. However now it is entirely decked, with a blue and yellow type colour scheme.

Bedroom:
The Bedroom has one of the biggest changes. The entrance has been brought inside, and the theme completely changed from the summer. The sharp angles and horrid cold colour scheme has vanished, and has been replaced with a calming green, stone and dark grey colour scheme. The beds are rounded off and are luxuriously comfy - but they are all double. There are only nine beds, which means some of our celebrity guests will have to share.

Garden:
The garden has had the biggest transformation since the summer. It has been reduced in size, and the pool now has a roof. The pool has been made slightly smaller to the summer and is now heated, to make the celebrities warm on those cold winter evenings. The white and green astroturf returns and a star has been put in place.

The straws and light colours of the summer remain, but Big Brother has installed a heated seating area which is covered and rounded. Flames are covering the back wall, which can move and grow bigger or smaller.

Diary Room:
The Diary Room has also changed, moving away from the time warp theme and instead bringing in an Egyptian palace theme. The pillars seen in the main house are brought inside the Diary Room and the screens will show moving and rotating Egyptian patterns.

Ah, I've got a House plan actually... I'll post it for you beneath the spoiler, because you see the two secret rooms and stuff. It's just an overhead view of the House in X-Ray mode, but you can easily see where everything goes and what's connected.

One thing I love about this place is how most of the great posters now post an updated version for Celebrity Big Brother. As in real life it gives you the opoprtunity just to address any potential issues and generally make the house a bit nicer, and you've certainly done that. It looks great.

As I said last time this is one of the best projects here in a long time - easily the best of the last couple of years IMO.

This should be BB16, it would be brilliant. An interesting house, theme, and BB looks and seems very mysterious. It would be a hit with the ratings! The house is like BB 14 and 15 mixed together, an odd combinations but it works!!! Well done! Its amazing!
