I think Mark adds value to the house, as the only gay in the village (BB House) he is no threat to the girls and can be friends with the majority of the HM.

He is quite funny in a snobby sort of way (I don't travel on Buses ??) and his attempt at angry rhetoric re hitting girls was also quite funny.

As for being the only gay in the house, I have to wonder if perhaps there are not a few more in there still in the closet.
