Shopping task:Great Hms think alike? (newspaper headlines and noms to be seen)

The Big Brother 2014 housemates have been given their latest shopping task.



And quite frankly, on the face of it, it sounds truly dull.

This week the BB house has had a scientific make over as Big Brother attempts pioneering study, investigating the old adage that great minds – or housemates – think alike

For the next two days, Big Brother will be testing just how alike all housemates’ minds really are.

Housemates need to prove they are all similar in order to win a luxury shopping budget.

Over the next two days, BB will summon housemates three at a time to the Mind Lab where the trio will be isolated in booths. Each housemate will get a Yes or No question. If all housemates say Yes to the question they’ll win 10 points. If they all answer no than 5 points. If all housemates do not answer the same they will not win any points.

What housemates do yet realise however is that the questions will be in the from of dares (hence why saying Yes carries more points than a no).



If all three housemates answer Yes, they must follow through and complete the dare.

But in a twist, if any housemate says Yes, even if the others say no, they must also complete the dare.

In the living room is a locked Brain Box that contains the amount of points needed in order to pass the task.

At the end of the two days, the box will be unlocked and if housemates have exceeded the amount of points on the card inside they will have passed the shopping task and won a luxury budget.

This week the housemates are being tested on their similarity.

In groups of three they will be called to the ‘Mind Lab’ where they will be isolated and each asked the same dare question that will test their nerves, bottle and stupidity.

If ALL three agree and say yes, they receive 10 points. If they ALL agree and say no, they take 5 points. However, if they disagree (e.g. 1 says yes, 2 say no) then they score ZERO points. Points may increase during the task.

The caveat is that whoever says yes must perform the dare, even if not all three housemates said yes as well.

The dares will include…



Twerking 9 to 5
Housemates must perform a twerking marathon. In the garden there is a Notting Hill carnival-style stage, with three marked positions. The Housemates are given twerking outfits and have to twerk when they hear a trigger.

Dirty Laundry
If they agree, BB will show newspaper headlines about the three housemates on the big screen. (e.g. Danielle’s sordid past)

Karaoke Serenade
Housemates will serenade the housemate of their choice. BB will play a classic karaoke track onto a plasma and the housemates will take a portion of the song each and sing to a housemate of their choice

Noms
Housemates will agree to have nominations of them played into the house.

Clown Party
Ashleigh (scared of clowns) Helen (scared of balloons) and Mark will stick it out in a scary clown party. The small task room is dressed like a circus tent. They have to sit on chairs on a podium in the middle, we then introduce a scary clown, armed with balloons. They have to remain there and fight their fear.

Brilliant Breakfast
Housemates are woken up to an unusual breakfast in the small task room. A disgusting omelette containing century egg, surstromming and several other ‘delicacies’. They have to eat a portion of the omelette to pass the hit.


Final Agreement
In a twist, housemates have a tablet each with the housemates’ faces on. They are asked various questions to which a housemate is the answer.

The first half of the task will air on tonight’s highlights show on Channel 5 from 10PM.

Day 21: What will the housemates be eating this week?


This week, housemates failed their shopping task, and you know what that means: basic rations. The food arrived this evening, and already, we're pretty sure the housemates aren't impressed with their haul. Let's see what they've got, then...



Firstly, they've got some fresh fruit and veg: 96 oranges, 96 apples, 96 pears, 12 onions, 6 packs of carrots, and 18 cabbages.

The fruit, especially, seems to be going down well, with everyone tucking into the apples and pears.



Next, there's the stock cupboard essentials: canned goods, including 96 cans of chickpeas, 18 cans of lentils, and 96 cans of tinned tomatoes. Carb-wise, they'll be getting through a lot of rice this week, as Big Brother has supplied 18 packs of white rice and 18 packs of brown rice.

Then there's the stock cubes - six packs each of beef, chicken, and vegetable cubes - plus 12 bottles of vegetable oil and 12 bottles of olive oil. They got plenty of seasonings, too: 18 jars each of paprika, nutmeg, coriander, and cumin.



Most importantly, though: they got coffee. Two big jars of it, to be precise. There's also four packs of tea bags, and six bags of sugar. Someone put the kettle on, eh?

For the first time since they arrived at the House a few weeks ago, the housemates are going to have to learn to go without. They’ve been bickering, factions have been forming, and now – after failing the last shopping task so spectacularly - they’re going to live on basic rations.

An optimist would hope that a bit of poverty and neediness might bring everyone together, form a sense of community spirit as they locate a stoical blitz mentality. But, unfortunately, so far that seems unlikely.

Already, stocks are dwindling, and where once the breakfast plates were piled high with sausages and bacon, there’s talk of surviving only on fruit until lunchtime.



The three keenest scoffers – Winston, Ash and Marlon – seem especially disturbed by the thought.

“Two eggs left, that’s to last us all week,” muttered a downbeat Marlon, noticing the egg shortage.

Jale has spoken with genuine fear blazing in her eyes of running out of bread. Mark is threatening the others with meals like “cabbage soup” and “curry surprise”.

As the stomachs begin to grumble, there may be a storm cloud forming overhead.
