View Full Version : Why are people so anti-entertainer this year?

I know that the BB public love dullards normally, but anyone that is entertaining in this series seems to be hated by most people, not one is even liked and I wonder why? It is breaking the rules of the program imo and it's really annoying to see it happening more than ever this year, and worse when Helen, Ash, and Toya join Pauline as the list of evictees you people that love the dullards will tune out and leave us with people like Kimberly, Mark, and Winston and I'm sick of it happening almost every year.

So after Ash goes this week (as there is no stopping that) you will basically be doing what I'm telling people not to do, dullards have to be the targets from next week onwards otherwise the public are breaking the rules of the program.

I agree, the balance on here this year has tipped in favour of the non-entities so much more than I can ever remember :/ we went through a really good period I'd say a couple of years back where there was a big group of people that supported the big characters and even if they disliked them knew that they should stay around, that kind of sentiment has dwindled over the years but it's at an all time low this series

It's VTE that's done it Jack.
And to the people that do support dullards in this series, do you remember why you didn't want Sam to win last year? Because it seems like you're bending the rules this year.

The bore was kicked out week 1.
Getting rid of Pauline was also a good choice as she was an overbearing **** that smothered the house.
I know kicking out the bore is the best way but sometimes it's futile when they are up against someone who's been nasty. If we tried to get rid of the bore (Marlon) this week we could lose Toya and that would be awful.

Or they treat it as an entertainment show (like it should be) instead of who's the victim show, who's the best looking show, or the most offensive of them all and that's a who causes the least drama show.

Tamara was a ****ing dullard.
Pauline was a bellend and needed to go for the sake of the show, she was stifling everybody.
Ash has done a turnaround and is potentially going tomorrow (with any hope) and I don't find him entertaining, just a gross, egotistical wanker.
The whole 'The public are soooo into bores' thing you've had going all series is far more tedious tbh.
VTE so far hasn't been at all bad.

pauline ruined the show its better without her.
helen is a one trick pony its the same vileness every single day. that is boring. there is nothing else to her. once we have seen her being nasty and vile one day we have seen it every day. she's not doing anything else is she.
and who wants to watch that , thats not entertaining. thats just a repeat of the same thing every day.
i want to see what the others are about not watch the helen show.
toya is a good example for you as she goes psycho but she doesn't do it every 5 minutes. so when she does you could argue she's entertaining.
keeping her in is justified even though shes awful.
same can be said for ash over marlon
people kept danielle in over tomora cause danielle was entertaining she wasn't liked at all at the time. since then she's done nothing. so in hindsight a bad choice
no one can judge that well who is boring and who isnt
just look at ahsleigh quiet mouse is waking with a roar lol

26-06-2014, 05:32 PM
It depends what your opinion is.
Pauline was a bully, I was glad to see the back of her. Helen is a chav and a bully, I will be very happy to see the back of her at any point. Ash is hardly entertaining. He just moans moans moans, making himself out as some superior being, I want him out just because he adds nothing apart from moaning because he thinks he is gods gift. I don't think he has contributed that much at all to any entertainment. He's a twat at the end of the day. If you think you're superior to everyone else then you deserve to get kicked out.
Now Toya, I found her irritating at the start of the week but the whole argument after the veto thing I found hilarious and a classic BB argument. It was over something so trivial and stupid it was just really enjoyable to watch on the whole. I'd like to see her stay longer tbh.

Everyone says this but I cannot reiterate enough that not all drama is equal. Last night's episode was dramatic but bordered on extremely uncomfortable. If it wasn't Matthew on the receiving end of Helen's wrath it probably would've been uncomfortable, but luckily he's so above it all and views her as a complete joke. Drama in and of itself isn't a talking point, there needs to be something coupled with drama (wit, humor, righteousness, etc.) Keeping drama in for drama's sake isn't guaranteed entertainment. Like, the end of BB8 was full of drama and everyone still thought it was boring. That's because it was subtle low-level social exclusion stuff and that's boring and upsetting.

No but it kind of shows you're all too quick to shout "Keep that entertainment" "Get rid of that bore!" when they all take a back seat and a main part at different intervals. No housemate will be "entertaining" 100% of the time.
There's such a pressure and obsession with having drama, fast paced highlights, now, now, now that nobody can win. And not everyone is entertained by the same thing.
Other countries air less episodes than our BB so can have several days highlights in one episode. Ours can breathe a little more in that we get one episode a day.

I agree, the large majority of people on here have been commenting on how much they're loving this series (including those who dislike and/or want the likes of Pauline, Helen and Toya to be evicted)...well the reason for that is because of how much action there's been to dissect and discuss, how intriguing and gripping the opening few weeks have been...and there's a reason for that - a select few housemates. Those are the people who drive the narrative and create the action that so many seem to be enjoying, people like Toya, Helen, Pauline and even to a lesser extent now the likes of Ash, Danielle, Christopher. You get rid of them and what do we have? I don't get why people don't see the correlation, no one's saying you have to like them (I certainly don't like people like Helen in real life terms) or even support them, but what confuses me is when people want them evicted? If you're finding a storyline gripping enough to praise the show and come onto this forum and participate in numerous debates about issues raised, I think it's fair to say that the people who have caused you to do that should probably remain in the show.

It definitely can be a reason for me not to see much good in that particular Housemate, but even then they are probably never going to become my favourite anyway otherwise I would be understanding that Housemate's fans point of view in the first place.
My god Mock you're a strange one.

Well one of Jack's main points was those housemates causing me to enjoy the series so I should want them in.
I'm not so it doesn't apply.

I know that I've been rude this year and probably gone a little too sharp on this thread and I should be having a laugh more, but do you not see my point of view at all? This question is aimed at the fans of the nice Housemates.

I'm not even trying to be a contrarian but,
-Toya "drove" the narrative for like a night or two but that's neither here nor there
-Helen is "driving the narrative" in the most uncomfortable way it's just going to get worse so no thx
-Pauline drove the narrative to ****ing hell, this week's even such an improvement because she's gone and isn't suffocating everyone
-ASH is not driving **** like what on earth
-Danielle is love, it's true
-Christopher like... I know people have been attached to him since the beginning for some inexplicable reason but how the hell has his irrelevant ass been driving anything
But whatever, I've been very vocal about how bad this season's been through the first two weeks and I still think there are some major flaws that need to be sorted out so the rest of that post didn't apply much to me.

Well I wasn't meaning that so the answer to your question is no

If you're not enjoying the series then yeah my post doesn't really apply to you (although I'd still argue anyone that's been participating in heavy debates on here is at least somewhat interested and intrigued by the series than someone who isn't enjoying it at all - this is directed at neither of you in particular though, just a general comment)
Toya's dominated pretty much the last five days. Helen's been the focal point of much of the series and whether it's uncomfortable (BB13 was moreso IMO but people love that on here) or not she's been the catalyst for why so many people have been interested enough in this series to praise it and dissect it in numerous threads on this forum. I agree that the show hasn't suffered without Pauline (I did comment towards the end of last week that I accepted things probably wouldn't change too much and that it's only if we lose all of her, Toya and Pauline that things will go downhill - and I stand by that) but she dominated the first two weeks and once again provided everything I described in my post. I don't even like Ash but his dickish behaviour has led to arguments, without him they may not even have happened and I don't understand the Christopher love either but he has been the catalyst for a few feuds which provoked discussions earlier on in the series with Toya and Pauline, tbh I just threw his name out there...emerging characters like Ashleigh are almost on the same level as him now in all honesty.

Dominated for five days? Toya's been wallpaper for two highlights shows.
She was a focus of the nomination argument episode and then the episode afterwards and then she's sat back with Ashleigh.

I've still got last night's to watch (the Demand 5 episode hasn't been put on Sky yet) cause I was out but even if she's just sat and bitched with the Ashleigh/Danielle crew that's still partaking in the show as far as I'm concerned. I was intrigued by Ashleigh's emerging role and opinions the other night and she's literally done **** all to anyone's face, just because they're sitting back and bitching it doesn't mean they're not involved compared to someone like Marlon or Chris. Dominating may have been the wrong word but still

Not everyone finds the same housemates entertaining or boring it's all about a good mix
Marsh.

To be honest, last night's she didn't even just sit quiet and bitch, she barely featured at all.
I think I remember one bit with her and Ashleigh, everything else was focussed on everyone else.

watching helen making other peoples lives a misery should never be classed as entertaining.
the same as pauline.

The only ones I find truly dull this year at this point are Steven and Kimberly. Edit. And Winston...so dull I forgot him
Overbearing personality doesnt necessarily equal entertainment, which some on here seem to think

I mean I guess I get your points but my main disagreements probably all stem from not not enjoying this season as much as everyone else seems to. Middle-aged bitch whose main conflicts stem around kitchen duties is definitely not may archetype of choice (and Pauline did it less fascinatingly than Carole too) and her God complex often left me more annoyed than entertained. And I still don't think Ash really did much at all and he certainly won't be missed if he's evicted. He's a slightly evolved (regressed?) Kris Donnelly, and I don't think Kris appealed to anyone. His best contribution was being the object of Toya's rage, but that really doesn't take much does it? Toya's snapped at about half the cast so far so you could essentially replace Ash with a cardboard cutout and have the same net effect. Again, I'm left more annoyed than entertained by someone who unironically defends Helen.
And I think Christopher serves as good proof of my point that not all drama is equal and drama isn't automatically entertaining. The stuff with Christopher wasn't memorable and it will not be memorable when the series is done. A real "talking point" incorporates things other than drama (the three main ones that come to mind are righteousness, humor, and wit but it's not just limited to those three) and any drama Christopher's been involved in was just pointless, forgettable drama. It hasn't had much of a bearing on things and it's been overshadowed by other, better moments so I don't really care much about it.

Why do people post threads like this EVERY series?????
Is it that hard to grasp that people like different things? And what you find entertaining isn't what others find entertaining??
People being vile to other people isn't entertaining to me, it is uncomfortable viewing & I hate that BB has been turned into a clone of all those other tacky scripted reality shows where it is basically people having sex or having fights. They now deliberately inflame situations so it will all kick off, which is quite sad, I used to prefer early Big Brother series where it was normal people put into a house, not the loudest fame *****s that 'talent scouts' find in clubs... Sigh...
