People throw this word a round a lot but what is the point, surely being in a couple can only work against you in big brother, no one has ever won big brother because they have been in a relationship in the house. I could understand if it was bb1-7 when people who were in couples probably got a lot of publicity when they came out like kemals comment that saskia wanted a magazine deal, but now you could be in a couple and no one would care so whats the point?

if you can pull it off even the fake showmances (last years 'love triangle') can get you far, it is annoying though

It's an extra person that you can try and manipulate votes for i guess and plus you're guaranteed not to get a nomination from your other half

I agree ,the most genuine romance was Helen and Paul ,that kicked started the 'showmance'
Jay/Louise
Ziggy/Chanelle
Imogen/Sezer
Sam/Brian Belo
Pete/Nikki
Stewart/Michelle
Hazel/Daley
Sophie/Lee
to name a few that went for the showmance.

Because the money used to be in all the magazine deals as a couple.
They all wanted to emulate the popularity Paul and Helen had when they came out and make a bit of cash out of it.
Agree with what Marsh said about them thinking they will get mag deals, it makes me dislike the housemates involved tbh.
Showmances take up far too much airtime for completely pointless reasons and take away airtime from the other housemates that are actually doing something worth watching, the producers somehow can't get enough of it for unknown reasons and they start pushing for it to happen as soon as they get a whiff of it, the pull out the dodgy romantic tunes and cringey montages, stuff that crap, if I wanted to see that **** I would watch blind date.

I don't think they all want the mag deals. You're stuck in a house 24/7 with nothing to do and someone attractive wants to cuddle/make-out with you. Why wouldn't you have fun with it?

If it's natural and develops then yes but Tamara knew Winston a week and Helen and Co have them a couple!! :joker: Now she is out the house she is on the BBBOTS panel as his GF and meeting his mum:shrug: That was all about airtime with Tamara and now she is out she clings to the chance he could go to the final and may win ...kerching mag deals.

To dumb down as many people watching as possible.

You do realise that even if he wins we'll never hear about them again and the show is hardly popular enough for anyone to want to read about them, maybe back in 2004 but not now.

To dumb down as many people watching as possible. Is that even possible  Half of them are already reduced to getting overly excited and giddy just because someone managed to make a snidey comment. Some viewers are so basic they will throw their pocket money at anything they think is nasty like thats something to aspire to.
Showmances are just another way of trying to win the tweeny vote.

Good question imo.One of the attractions for myself when watching BB is to try and decide if individual housemates are being genuine.
Showmances can make for interesting viewing. Is it a contrived strategy or some real affection.? Often difficult to decide but seldom boring.

Th whole showmance thing is a bit cwazy weally. guys fancy girls girls fancy guys. people want to get jiggy and feel a little bit of effection and security.
i dont know why it has to be labelled as a showmance everytime.
why cant two people just get it on. thats real life whereever you go
i guess its only showmance if they are too serious. then you think wtf lol as they hardly know eachother
then thats bad and wont do them any good in bb.
