This is a genuine article from an English newspaper.
I cant beleive its real! It's a warning to parents about there kids being emo.

The funniest is that they take genuine pointers on how emo's see themselves from 'The Emo Song' and 'The Instant Emo Kit'
LOL! They say that all of them self harm, and that it's a suicide cult.
And the worst bit? Guess what they say the top emo band is???? Ready to be offended.... Green Day. lol!!

How stereotypical do they wanna get? These "people" don't or wouldn't ever know what it's like to be "emo" (Don't label people) and you don't need black hair just to be "emo"

So stupid...

'don't or wouldn't ever know what it's like to be "emo"' - Emo is just a music genre, rooting from Emotional Music.
I wish people would stop labelling themselves, and other people labelling others - it's pathetic! We're all humans and thats all that matters.

But I agree with your point about wearing black make-up etc, anyone can do that, they dont need to fit in with a label or anything.

Plus Green Day isn't even "Emo" music

Haha, they've been on MySpace, had a look at some mainstream 'emo' kids, had a bit of a look on Wikipedia, then wrote that article as if they knew all about it, haha.

LOL converse are just shoes worn by baseball players in America. It doesn't make anyone a 'mosher'. Some people are silly, hehe.

What does 'emo' even mean?
It's a word that's just appeared from nowhere and everyone seems to be using it, can someone tell me what it means. :conf:

I Have loads of metal friend who HATE emos with a fiery Passion

my contact with emos is summed up here

All Emo girls wanna do is kiss emo boys
All Emo boys wanna do is kiss other Emo boys
Then when the emo boys break up they write "Emotional" and "Deep" poetry/songs about thete "Horrible" experiences,show/say them to the emo girls, and then go home and cut themselves with a butter knife

I suck at poetry, I wouldn't kiss an emo boy coz of the lipstick lol and it wasn't a butter knife...

What you said just there is just like, so stereotypical it makes me want to die

Argh! At first I was quite happy to tolerate people who classify themselves as emo. It's a fad and always has been, but I couldn't help but get angry after a while; they don't even TRY to kill themselves, it's just a desperate attention seeking act. This is my stereotypical view, yes, and I know there are people who are emo and do want to kill themselves and have perhaps tried to do so. But for god's sake, bands like Panic! At the Disco are completely taking advantage of the height of emo-ness with their pointless lyrics. And the fact they say "We don't want to be mainstream and have music videos," I think the quote was... If you don't want a music video, don't bloody make one. If you don't want to be mainstream, don't sign to a record label. If you don't want hundreds of screaming fan girls, don't make music your career path, morons!!

It's the fact that emos' dress the same yet say "We are being different" and the fact that it's just become a mockery that annoys me. I would have taken emos' seriously if it was a small cult. Hell, I'm sure everyone else would have done too. But no! It's a rolling bandwagon that won't stop for a long time, and we have to live with it.

I agree to an extent with you

You can be emo and not have black hair, or wear too much black or whatever. You can be emo and not want to kill yourself and just like the music/style. Or you can just dress emo. I went out today and saw a mixture of all three. There were the more happier ones, and then you had the hardcore ones.

It's hard for me to even call them emos coz I hate labeling things and stuff and I do have "emo" friends so I wont say a bad word against them. Yes, it does get scary when your friend is in hospital but they are all generally good people... just yeah...

I can't stand "emo bashing." I dunno if it happens there but here, if you're an emo you're put through so much crap that it probably makes up the suicide side to it really.

OK, I'm rambling now but that just shows how I feel about it all and perhaps people should stop being so bloody stereotypical and look past that "Emo song" for once

I hate emo's who have to TRY and be them, with all the look
Fair enough to the people who like the music etc

But theres this girl who slits her wrists cos shes really unhappy and she covers them up wiht long sleeved shirts, and I discovered them, and shes not really 'emo' but she was covering them up.

But this one girl was showing everyone going LITERALLY 'I slit my wrists last night'. And was flaunting it. Its a pathetic excuse for attention, and really annoys me.

Yes! Yes! Those ones annoy me!

"Oh waaah my girlfriend dumped me, oh my look I cut my wrists to look cool... waaah!"

NO!

It's nothing to be happy about... I don't get why they show them off, I'd rather wear jackets all the time then show off the scars
