It's their money, if the player wants the move, then he can go.

It's not like Southampton aren't going to spend now they've got a ****load of money. It's not like your club didn't dip into the Southampton pot either with Shaw moving either.

Schneiderlin and Lovren looking likely to leave, they are going to need to sign about 6 players in the next month.

Rather they raid Southampton having got their new found CL status than use their great season to make some huge signings.

This is what happens when a 'journey man'/ mid-table/ non elite team rises above low expectations and either wins things or has a decent run in the league. They get raided by the big bullies as if vultures swoop in.

The same has happened at Altetico madrid when they had the bare faced audacity to take on the Real Madrid and Barcelona to win La Liga and go close in the CL final. The funny thing is a journey man/ middle table/ non elite team such as Celta Vigo, Malaga, Aston Villa or West Brom get to keep their best and most talented players as everyone assumes all the players at Celta Vigo, Aston Villa or West Brom are crap when in fact they may have emerging talent or the next big thing.

Reward for overachieving or unexpected success? Players get taken. How dare these small teams do well and destroy the pre ordained order! The big boys take revenge on the minnows and steal key talent at an affordable price. Luke Shaw overpriced? He would actually have been worth about £35-38m had he been at a bigger club such Everton or Spurs. Southampton had some of the most impressive English players last season: Lallana, Lambert, Shaw, Prowse, Jay Rodriguez several broke into England team and as we all know people feel very uncomfortable when England players don't play for the big 4 or a team near the top 4 like Everton.

It's actually despicable what LFC have done to Southampton. Almost all their top players bar MUFC-bound Shaw and J-Rod staying put.

With Pochettino now at Spurs and the two brilliant youth coaches (who have produced real talent over the years) out the door, Southampton look in dire straits this oncoming season

its like you cant be arsed to grow any veg so at night go into the next allotment and steal all the veg and then have the nerve to enter it into the local gardening competition and try to win with a straight face

Not sure how this had anything to do with being a great club or not. The club has to agree to sell, the player has to agree to sign. 50m for 3 players, probably 10-20m more than they're worth. Making it sound like we're stealing players. 50m is plenty enough to replace them. They're not exactly world class players.

And Pochettino leaving is probably playing a big role in players wanting to go. If we weren't buying no doubt there would be interest from elsewhere anyhow, probably from Spurs.

Lul you could literally relate this to any transfers

Before end of last season both Luke Shaw hinted he wanted to go and Lallana more or less put in a transfer request.

I am sorry but Liverpool have swooped in like vultures and licked clean the eye sockets of Southampton. It's actually abysmal how smaller teams will never have sustained success. The problem with a club like Southampton fc having £50m and being a small club is you still can't buy decent players. They could afford either a Pogba, Blind or a Vidal but obviously these players won't join the Saints.

No football club would choose not to sign another player simply because their last transfer was from the same team. Literally no club. If a club want a player they're going to go for it regardless, not choose not to on some crazy moral high ground that could mean they lose out. Southampton happen to have the players they desire so it's unfortunate.

There are many more players than the big names. There would be no need for scouts otherwise. They can attract good talent on the grounds that they're a mid table team in the biggest league in the world.

They already raided Swansea, taking the manager, the assistant, a couple of players and they like to use Swansea as their European scouting network, gazumping any bid for a player Swansea find. Plus now there are reports Liverpool want Michel Vorm, Jonathon DeGuzman, Ashley Williams and Wilfried Bony. Although using another club as its scouting network does has its downfalls. Iago Aspas.:joker: Plus it was nice of them to massively overpay for Joe Allen.

I think that is by far the worst thing to happen to them this summer.

Brought through a lot of the current Dutch side, alongside the likes of Jean Paul Boetius who is also going to be amazing. Tadic looks like he's his first signing for 9m and he's better than Lallana

Perfect appointment for them with them being so home-grown orientated

Done some good jobs in his time. (only a few mind)

But, mostly his managerial jobs have been poor/absolute disasters.

In particular his Valencia (one of the worst managerial jobs in recent time) and AZ stints.

Hasn't been £50m either. Lallana was £16m (raising to 25 based on performance related add ons) and Lambert £4m. Can't see us paying £20m for Lovren either.

The crazy thing is at Christmas last year, JR seemed a cert to be first one to be snapped up well ahead of Lallana, Shaw and Lambert.
