Instead of Prison for Murderers (Capital Punish type argument)

Why don't they kill them in the same way that they murdered. They inflicted unimaginable pain on others so it's only right that the same be done to them imo. I understand that law enforcers may not want to kill, especially not in dastardly ways, however I feel like murderers ought to be killed, at least experience severe pain. Prison isn't severe pain.

Well THAT's an interesting question,I watched 'I spit on your grave ' last night and the brutality was awful but I couldn't help rooting for the woman when she got her vengeance,but in reality in GB it will never happen ,infact sometimes you get rewarded!!

I think for murder there needs to be an overhaul of if and when they get out again.
For me, the deliberate taking of another's life should mean the guilty people are in fact out of society for the rest of their lives.

I swing back and forth as to the death penalty,it is a real hard one but I take on board too the op that outlines the horrific murders that some have committed.

Prison for these people should not be any kind of picnic and limited contact with the outside world should be at a minimum.
Also where no remorse is shown either or in fact where the guilty people have been of little or not full assistance to the police in the investigations then maybe something more should be given as punishment.

For instance, Myra Hindley and Ian Brady allowed the Mother of Keith Bennett to live in torment at not being able to properly bury her so
I would have had them on those moors every day digging it up manually until they found that boy's body or revealed where they had buried him.

It is a hard one this poser but where there is certain 100% guilt such as the murder of that Soldier last year then for me,I could be persuaded the death penalty would be welcome.
Also for those who inflict torture and then murder young children who have no chance at all to defend themselves at all.

Would I vote yes,if we had the chance to vote for a return to the death penalty, I have to answer that honestly at this time with I don't know and doubt I would but I likely could be persuaded to do so for some murders.

Criminals who are a serious threat to society should be permanently removed from society. At present this should be done by executing all violent offenders and sex offenders. There is no need for torture, just execute them. They are removed from society and justice is done.

The problem for me is what if there is a wrongful conviction and an innocent life is taken. This has happened in the past as people have received pardons years after their death. State sanctioned murder is never the answer in my opinion. Long sentences of hard labour and life meaning life is the way to go for me.

I have absolutely no problem with violent criminals being permanently removed from the face of the earth, if they are likely to remain violent. No bloodlust or vengeance in it - just get rid of them. However,

This is my issue with it, really. The justice system is FAR from perfect... a million miles from it. It's not a question of "what if" an innocent person was executed, but "when and how many". it would definitely happen if introduced in the same trial-by-jury style as many US states. I remember in RMPS (Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies) at school, learning about a case from when the UK still had the penalty, and a guy was hung for murder and then a few years later, they caught the real killer, who confessed to the crime that other man was hung for. Harrowing stuff. Accounts from the executed man's family, etc...

So yeah. No moral issue with killing people who are likely to kill more innocent people.

Not any and all people convicted of murder - just those likely to reoffend, where their crime appears motiveless or driven by pleasure / cruelty / psychopathy... One off killers, tbh, often have good reasons. I mean, how unjust if a person was to face the death penalty for murdering someone who had abused them for years?

But even with the former, ONLY if the evidence is indisputable. Not "reasonable doubt", no jury required or question of innocence at all, I'm talking about multiple-murderers who have been caught elbow deep in blood. Then, yeah. I have no issue with them being disposed of.

The Death Penalty was abolished in this Country thank God.........and we have no desire to bring it back now or in the future.

As a race of civilised people we have moved on from the barbaric practice of murdering people for revenge or retribution.

We will always have some people who commit the ultimate crime for whatever reason and they have to be permanently removed from Society, but as a Society to commit the same crime that that person has comitted is sheer hypocrisy.

So No death penatly here thank you very much.

I can see that although my knee jerk if it was someone close to me would be to want something more harsh than life in prison as it stands.
If it was true justice then they would never be a hope of release, to assure adequate penance for the victims and their family.
