View Full Version : Helen just picks on the weak!
She has done it all through the show, she picks on the weak housemates or the housemates who have a problem with other housemates..she has done this with dannielle, jale, Christopher, chris, mathew and is now doing it with Ashleigh.
typical bully's behaviour.

Exactly...and have you noticed that she usually has her cronies gathered around her as her captive audience when she is slagging people off. They laugh like gormless idiots and Helen sits there enjoying the attention and reveling in her own vileness.

If Ashleigh gave her reason to, you can guarantee she would rip the little blonde cow a new hole. Where has she shown she is articulate or more so than anyone else? She has just lounged on the bed and moaned for the most part.

Hmm I wouldn't say she suddenly decided that about Ashleigh though Nimah she said when Ashleigh's comments started getting louder and bitchier that she wasn't going to be that person that argued with and 18yr old girl, iirc she said she wouldnt argue with someone that age outside so wouldn't do it in the house.

Imo the reason Helen said she wouldn't argue with an 18 yr old is because she knows Ashleigh would stand up to her and Helen doesn't like that, so she knows she might lose it and get thrown out.
Ashleigh has shown strength and resilience in the house and more adult maturity than Helen has. She is not a child and she isn't weak enough to be a target for the house bully. Helen is using her age as an excuse.

..I also think that there may be good reasons that Ashleigh does things the way she does and doesn’t get into confrontations with Helen as she has already said that she was badly bullied and I think that has made her tougher in some ways but she must still feel a lot of emotions and lack of self esteem associated with that ( ..it can’t have been that long ago considering her age now..) and maybe Helen with her behaviour in the house, represents someone/people that have made Ashleigh quite fearful so it’s understandable that she would ‘shy’ away from that in a way and yet still have a very strong feeling of ‘justice’ against someone like Helen...I think a poster said earlier with Pauline’s bullying behaviour that there’s this thing that we have to see victims as quite mild/more submissive people and if their bullies don’t ‘beat them’ into that persona which people can relate to more easily, then there is a tendency to not feel any empathy and especially as Ashleigh has been shown in a very ‘hard’ one dimensional way....I do think though that she does see what a lot of people see which is a very mean and spiteful and slightly bullying personality with Helen and how she’s been mean to people/bitches about people/calls them derogatory names and I think everything about Ashleigh goes against that but yeah, I don’t think she can maybe take that step of ‘confrontation’ especially as Helen tends to ‘run with a pack’ and be part of a clique, she would find that quite scary....I also think it’s really harsh for people to have any empathy for Helen and her life that may have contributed to how aggressive and defensive she is now but then to have none at all with Ashleigh and her unfortunate experiences and just think of her as a bitch and nothing more....

That is true. But with Ashleigh she suppresses her real feelings to Helen's face and vents behind her back. That's not being mature about it, that's avoiding telling Helen what's what to her face which builds up inside her causing her to pick at every little thing with Danielle because the bitterness is eating away at her.
An astute, mature and intelligent person wouldn't behave like either of them and would rise about the pettiness. Neither do. One has a drink which causes her to vent all of her thoughts and frustrations straight into people's face, one lets it build up to the point where she can't think of anything else to whinge about in the bedroom with their only friend.
So I don't think everyone who avoids confrontation is a wimp, those people tend to let it go and move on. Ashleigh doesn't, she's scared of facing things head on.

..I do agree with what you’re saying in a way Marsh but I do also think though that 18yrs old is more of a border/threshold of maturity..she’s just becoming ‘mature’ and she has recent bullying experiences (they can’t have been long ago because of her age..)...which must have ‘scarred’ her maybe she does shy away from confrontations, who knows because it’s just that it hasn’t happened yet but I think discussing Helen’s spitefulness in the house would be quite normal because she has been pretty awful but then maybe Ashleigh, not only by her own experiences and associations but also by Helen’s ‘face to face’ hurtful comments in the house, has seen how little value that has in terms of how it makes someone feel who is on the receiving end of them...and even though she dislikes Helen so much, maybe she can’t bring herself to do this ‘honest’ stuff which most of us know is usually an excuse for being a spiteful person....’oh, well I just say what I think’..well, don’t keep your spitefulness to yourself....also, maybe Ashleigh's feelings have been supressed by others in the past so that she doesn't really want some screeching looney in her face, which she's seen all too often happen in the 'Helen confrontations'....

Why should she though? People don't do that in real life unless they're arseholes, she doesn't like her but she doesn't need to go on an insulting spree for no other reason then to be honest. If everyone did that in everyday life the world would be a horrible, nasty place :/

As I said before, what exactly should Ashleigh confront Helen about? :conf:
a) Helen knows Ashleigh doesn't like her, not via Ashleigh herself doing anything but by Chinese whispers going through the house. Through Kimberley and Jale and a few others flitting between groups. They've never actually acknowledged anything between the two of them.
b) I never said she should have a confrontation. I was responding to your insinuation that Helen wouldn't dare confront Ashleigh because she knows Ashleigh would tear into her or that Ashleigh doesn't confront her because she's mature and intelligent. Both incorrect.
c) Ashleigh venting to Danielle is exactly what I said. Both she and Helen gather up hatred for people, Helen's flies out and straight into the person it's directed at when she has alcohol, in Ashleigh's case it causes the constant comments/bitching with Danielle to express herself. Neither is a mature option nor intelligent option.

Why isn't she upfront? Just because she doesn't go up and say "Helen I think you're an asshole and a bully blah blah blah" Who actually does that and is called upfront? People that behave like that in real life are disliked and tactless
And people who are sly and backstab are disliked also,I guess it's the type of person we are, myself I would prefer someone to tell me I'm an arsehole to my face rather than do it behind my back.

I think she means instead of sitting down with Helen to discuss any bad blood between them she prefers to bitch incessantly and let her bitterness eat her away.
That doesn't make her any better than Helen IMO.
I guess she doesn't want to get on with her because she doesn't like her? That's the impression I get anyway.....although the chants may change that lol

Me too, I don't know why it suddenly becomes an actual "quality" on Big Brother when you just know if people behaved like that in r/l they'd just be vile, rude people that you'd avoid like the plague. If everyone said what was on their minds directly to people all the time, none of us would be speaking to eachother
Exactly. It wouldn't work.
I remember watching a show actually when all the characters had to tell the truth and be "honest" at all times. Everybody hated each other by the end and all the relationships fell apart.

She still tried to involve them both and be their friends though, somebody getting a new friend doesn't normally cause friends to become spiteful bitches.
Also still makes them two faced or Ashleigh or Danielle could have just told Kim they felt she had drifted but they were both a pair of arseholes and just slated her behind her back didn't they.
So,you'de rather have someone who slates you behind your back? that's good for you,but give me a head to head anyday.

Are you forgetting that Helen also slagged people off behind their backs (Jale, Chris, Christopher) mocking them and calling them nasty names while sitting with her audience of laughing cronies..

Brilliant.
[QUOTE]a) Helen knows Ashleigh doesn't like her, not via Ashleigh herself doing anything but by Chinese whispers going through the house. Through Kimberley and Jale and a few others flitting between groups. They've never actually acknowledged anything between the two of them.
I think Ashleigh’s body language when around Helen was more than enough for Helen to know she doesn’t like her. I’m not in there and I can see it. I wonder why Helen doesn’t pick on Ashleigh when she knows she doesn’t like her? Hmmmm……
b) I never said she should have a confrontation. I was responding to your insinuation that Helen wouldn't dare confront Ashleigh because she knows Ashleigh would tear into her or that Ashleigh doesn't confront her because she's mature and intelligent. Both incorrect.
Funnily enough, I think both your points are incorrect –and I didn’t say Ashleigh would tear into her. I said she knows Ashleigh would stand up to her – there is a difference.
Ashleigh venting to Danielle is exactly what I said. Both she and Helen gather up hatred for people, Helen's flies out and straight into the person it's directed at when she has alcohol, in Ashleigh's case it causes the constant comments/bitching with Danielle to express herself. Neither is a mature option nor intelligent option.
It is both intelligent and mature (and smart) to avoid any sort of confrontation whatsoever with that vile woman.
So they both do the same thing then, it's just Helen does it with a bigger group of people.
Brilliant.

Tension between the two of them and "body language" is nothing to do with Ashleigh making her problems known. The whole house no she doesn't like them because she made no effort and would isolate herself in the bedroom or the pod. That's different. Ashleigh even admitted she made no effort to Helen and shut herself off but said she's been making more of an effort over the last week.
Knowing Ashleigh would stand up to her is irrelevant, it hasn't stopped Helen lashing out at others. She knows Christopher doesn't sit back and take it, he rabbits on and explains his corner; she knows Matthew argues back yet she still confronted him a second time.
It is mature and intelligent to avoid petty arguments. But replacing it with petty bitching and gossiping is not.
You keep finding ways to explain how your favourite is better than the housemate you hate whilst ignoring the huge similarities between them.

But bad mouthing someone whether it is to their face or plotting behind their back are both bullying. Infact doing it behind someones back is a lot worse.

She hasn't bullied anyone to their face
bully1
Line breaks: bully
Pronunciation: /ˈbʊli /
NOUN (plural bullies)
A person who uses strength or influence to harm or intimidate those who are weaker:
Ashleigh has really gone after the weak in there. Helen and Ash - the two gang leaders.
But bad mouthing someone whether it is to their face or plotting behind their back are both bullying. Infact doing it behind someones back is a lot worse.
What a load of bollocks. She gets her frustration off her chest by having a bitch about the others. Something we all do in life. What she did with Ash was play the game and get him up for eviction. She didn't try to isolate him from the rest of the house nor has she made particularly personal remarks about him. She just thinks he's an asshole. And he is.
Just because you perceive Helen as a bully it doesnt make it ok to bully her. Which is exactly what has happened. Difference is, Helen doesnt care and doesnt act like a big baby about it.
No, it has not happened. The logic is absurd. Helen has the support of the majority of people in that house. She is not in a vulnerable position, on the contrary, she is in the most powerful position in the house. She has both a free pass to the final and half of the men, the biggest men, hanging on to her every word. Just look at how violently she turned against Winston for actually daring to not bend to her will. She wanted a witch hunt and she wanted every man in that house on her side as she did it.
As for Helen not acting like a big baby. This woman screams abuse in people's faces for doing next to nothing or when they dare to disagree with something she's doing. She's the biggest child in there by some distance.
Jake.

She has insulted people's looks, attempted to isolate others, abused the powerful position she's in, been aggressive to the point that it looks like something violent could happen and in general just been a deeply unpleasant person. She seems to think, like you, that there's some double standard, and that they attack her because she's got a shrieking voice. The truth that she's just 10 times more odious than anyone else in there is something she cannot admit to herself. And one of the reasons she can't is because of the ****ing drips in there who hang on to her every word.
..Helen doesn't just bitch though, she's quite the bully and that's on a whole new level..I know you don't see that Verbal and are equating them as the same thing so yeah, it's an agree to differ thing because I will never see the Helen that you do...but I guess that's all in the BB fan game, yeah...

bully1
Line breaks: bully
Pronunciation: /ˈbʊli /
NOUN (plural bullies)
A person who uses strength or influence to harm or intimidate those who are weaker:
Ashleigh has really gone after the weak in there. Helen and Ash - the two gang leaders.
And he is.
I know what bully means, thanks. I can't believe you had to look that up and copy and paste it :joker:

I've acknowledged that there is a difference, but the only one is the audience they both have.
Was her telling blatant lies about Kim and Helen BEHIND THEIR BACK just bitching?
Was her hatching a plan to blind side Helen just bitching?
No, they were the actions of a devious, nasty little cow

She hasn't bullied anyone to their face
But bad mouthing someone whether it is to their face or plotting behind their back are both bullying. Infact doing it behind someones back is a lot worse.
Just because you perceive Helen as a bully it doesnt make it ok to bully her. Which is exactly what has happened. Difference is, Helen doesnt care and doesnt act like a big baby about it.
We're bad mouthing the housemates everyday behind their backs. Is that bullying? Plotting to get someone evicted isn't bullying either.
Bullying is what Helen has been warned twice for.
Helen acted like a big baby when she threw a tantrum over not being invited to a party.

No, she's not been particularly aggressive. And if you think she has been compared to what Helen has done with Danielle, Matthew and now her, then you're blind and deaf.
Do you even watch the show, or do you turn the sound down and just swoon over 'the 18 year old' ?

She lists the people she'd like to see go and the work Helen has had done on herself. She says Marlon's feet disgust her. Hardly a vicious insult.

Yeah, you see, she's living in a house with them. Telling people exactly what you think of them when you have to wake up with them there the next day is only likely to be unpleasant for you and unpleasant for everyone else.

Nothing wrong with what Ashleigh tried to do,It was a valliant attempt to try and thin out the numbers of the cool gang and no-one else has had the courage or where with all to even attempt it.She's working solo and she did extremely well to even out fox Helen and get Ash up(which she did),It's not her fault the public did'nt help her.She needs an ally or two in there to pull it off or atleast for the public to have the brain capacity to understand what she was trying to do and back her up.It was a fair effort from her.Well done Ashleigh!

Well said.
It doesn't matter how well you make a point, or how many samples you bring up, the is no resolving the "Helen V Ashleigh" debate.
The problem is that some see Helen's behaviour as entertainment. Both inside the house and by the viewers. While Ashleighs behaviour is been vilified despite the fact that she is essentially a polite young woman, who only "b*tches" to her friend.
Its an interesting deflection process. Ignore the very bad bahaviour of one person and over fixate on the minor discretions of another. And you can't argue against it, because it has a "digging in" effect.
Its a little like Helen's nomination of Ashleigh. Everything that she said is a mirror of her own behaviour. Yet she can't see it, as she see's herself as entertaining, so she blames it all on Ashleigh.

..hmm, so in a group situation in something like a playground..the group sitting around and mocking people’s appearance/calling names/insulting an individual and the rest of the group smiling or just sitting there and being part of it is the same thing and on the same level as someone letting off steam to a friend or ‘confidante’ about what they think about that group of people for what they’re doing and how they make people feel with their ‘honesty’....in that playground situation, no it wouldn’t be at all and nor should it.....most people 'bitch' but most people don't think they have the right to insult people to their faces with such arrogance and disregard for anyone's feelings ....
most people do bitch, at some points in their lives
Ashleigh bitches ALL the time, its the only thing we know her for, and unlike the fantasy (that she hasnt been shown being nice by BB producers) its obvious that she has NEVER said anything nice about anyone, and therefore it cannot be shown cause it never happened

They were actually friends with Kim until she disappeared up Helens arse
Im surprised at this post Niamh, youre normally very accurate
They were friends with Kim but as soon as she had the audacity to talk to someone other than the nasties Ashleigh & Toya, they cut her loose and started slagging her off too, in fact more than they were about Helen
So in essence, if Kim had stuck her head up Toyas arse the way Ashleigh did, all would have been fine, because she chose to mix with everyone, she was excommunicated by the dressing gown gang!!
And when Ashleigh & Toya then saw (from the stairs) that Danielle was having a chat with Kim, Ashleigh told Toya that would like to kick the **** out of danielle for doing so
Maybe Kim is now of the opinion (with some help from Ashleighs behaviour) that Helen's arse is a much nicer place to put your head than up Toya's or Ashleighs
And I for one, agree with her

I agree we all appreciate a good villain to get riled up about, I think what is frustrating though about this time is that pass to the final. The viewers like to see justice carried out and denying them that is frustrating and the whole "You Decide" tagline seems redundant this year when we can't evict the biggest villain in there. I don't think the show would fall a part without her there, yes she's given us alot of talking points but I for one am bored of the same old s**t now, I would like her gone so we could see the house dynamics take a proper shift.

I think there is more to it than just the free pass, there is also the house dynamic to consider.
No one in the house can nominate her, they've lost their ability to react to her behaviour, they have no choice but to buckle under. And whats funny is that the most vocal "anti-Helen" HM is now getting it in the neck from the audience.
With the saving of Ash, the free pass, and the booing of Ashleigh, the HMs are powerless and voiceless. Christopher dared not to give her a party pass and she publicly abused him over it. What other HM would react like that?
We will never get a true indication of how the HMs feel about Helen because she currently holds all the cards. Her abusive hard nose nature futher compounds the problem. It could well be that there are a couple of HMs able to take her down a peg, but to what end? They would need the ability to sustain that level of hostility for the rest of the show, because they'd be vulnerable to nomination, while she isn't.
