Only because he got pulled up for his nasty comment by more considerate and mature housemates. He had no choice but to apologise if he wanted to avoid public disapproval. He isn't completely stupid.

..he does have occasional moments of being ok but I think he's too much 'under Helen's thumb' ..I don't think he always agrees with her either and the methods in which she does things and confronts people and of all people I think he's in a position to day..'look Helen, I like you but...this is wrong..' etc...and if they really did have a genuine friendship, she would listen to him and take it on board...friendships are not about just blindly following someone, whatever they do or however badly they behave..anyway, in general I find it very hard to have any respect for him at all because he's just happy to sit back and let it all happen around him and that's just not providing anything in his own rights as a housemate....

I have warmed to Ash lately...since he got booed he seemed to mellow. Is that really him though?...Ash could win this if he stopped being in Helens shadow. He has opinions but doesn't seem to pull Helen up when she is beyond rude. As a friend he should do that. However if he fails to do that then he obviously finds her and her behaviour likeable and acceptable....and that will be his downfall.
