Since we're getting 3 new housemates tonight, I thought this would be a good time to look back on halfway housemates and discuss your favourites. I think overall, the most successful new additions to a series have been 'The Secret Garden' housemates in BB6; Orlaith, Kinga and Euguene. They all had different personalities and brought something new to the house which seemed impossible with the best cast by far its ever had. The worst halfway housemates in my opinion were either Emma Greenwood's replacement Becki in BB5 (ew flop) or the halfway housemates in BB8 (I can only remember Shanessa because the rest were so forgettable).

What have been your favourite halfway housemates and your least favourite?

Secret Gardeners were the best. Becki was good just for the Judas Kiss stuff.

Halfway Housemates in BB8 were the worst along with the plethora of ex partners in BB10.

Only Kinga was good in BB6 though..

I admit Judas Kiss was really good, but Becki was so boring. I still don't understand how they ever thought the halfway house was a good idea...did they even know how it worked or did they just go along with whatever?

Good topic and an opportunity to be nostalgic. My favourite 'halfway' housemate of all was Euguene. I recall him having to look after Kinga most of the time and he was a calming influence that year. If I remember right, didn't he come 2nd behind the winner Anthony (the one Graig was obsessed by)?

Euguene and Orlaith both brought something unique. And Orlaith brought the last bit of divide and drama, everything was nice after she left and stories were fizzling out, the only one still running was Creepy Craig's obsession over Anthony.

He came 2nd and won 50 grand by just being the first person to go into the diary room when Big Brother called...

Keeley would have been good if she hadn't broken her leg :joker:

Best by far though - Bea coming in and wreaking the house

The ones where the housemates got to choose in BB11 were the worst (JJ, Jo and Laura :umm2:), and the ones that went Next Door were okay but didn't add much (one went right away, two got evicted a couple of weeks later having done barely anything, Jennie got to the final having done barely anything, and Jayne burped a bit)

Eugene is one of the worst housemates ever

Eugene was hilarious. Putting him and Kinga together was quintessential Big Brother. Two completely different personalities interacting and having to find a way to put up with one another, like watching aliens.

His tantrum after she kept disturbing him in the bedroom and tried to ride him. :joker:

I liked Liam the tree surgeon I think he was in the year with all the girls as original housemates don't know what year that was. I also liked Sara the Australian girl who went in the year Rex was in it and I think she made the final

Yeah BB11 had some pretty dire extra housemates - Laura was such a joke  I personally think BB10 may have had the best halfway housemates ever - it's thanks to this that we got the amazing Hira :worship:

Anthony and Eugene were the only two from BB6 who didn't offer something to the series... the fact they were both final two was just :yuk:

I did love Rachel 2.0. And Keeley was quite a cutie too!

Without Anthony, no crazy Craig.

Eugene was funny and worth it for the sake of a new personality to mix with the Makosi's and the Kinga's, his friendship with Derek was good too.

People say the housemates they don't like or are different to the personalities they want on BB didn't offer anything. They did. BB thrives on a mix.

Which is one reason BB15 is flopping so hard.

At least Orlaith caused some great arguments, even if she did kill off two of the best housemates ever and then walked the day after. Anthony and Eugene both sucked big time.
