View Full Version : Hmmm..
I've always wondered, but does anyone know the exact reason why the sky is blue? I think it's something to do with the sea, but I'm not sure..?

The sky is blue because of the reflection of the water.:wavey:

its blue here but all over the world even in a desert where theres no water in the day its still blue so it cant be the water, can it?
I think its something to do with the way we view the light spectrum but water vapour reflection could be a part of it.:puzzled: Sticks will know!

He`s quite brainy when it comes to science !I`m just guessing that he would know.

The sky is blue because the particles of the Earth's atmosphere scatter the blue light in the rainbow of colours that makes up white light while the other colours pass through.

Maybe if you Google 'why is the sky blue' you'll get a clearer explanation than that.

Yes it is the other way around, at least that's what I've always been led to believe anyway!
James explained earlier in the thread that it is the dust particles in the atmosphere that causes the blue sky. In the link given It also says that The sky at Mars is often red because of the iron rich dust in the atmosphere. It says that water reflection is often mistakenly thought to be the cause.
