Overall, what do you think is the worst BBUK civilian series?

I think we have seen enough of BB15 for it to be included in the poll.

BB4 for me, closely followed by BB11 and BB12.

Literally the only acceptable answer is 12. 2/4/10/15 are all bottom tier with it (contrary to popular belief not 11!) but 12 is quite possibly the worst season of a reality TV show I've ever seen.

4 really isn't that bad at all, for all the flak it gets. It's first month is actually Not Bad and then there are enough things to sustain some forward plot movement (the Africa swap, the trials and tribulations of Lisa Jeynes, etc.) It only falls flat in the last two weeks and the end game is atrocious when you're left to root for a Scott win (or a Ray win but I have opinions on that.) It is at least on par with 2, if not better than for the fact that there's actually some forward plot movement after Week 3 or so. People really need to let go of that nostalgia tbh.

And then 10 is literal garbage. The Marcus/Freddie/Siavash triumvirate is one of the worst ever, the Charlie/Rodrigo stuff is more tiring than anything, the first five weeks are a true non-BB12 low point of the franchise. I could go (and have gone) on and on. Hira and Lisa and David are everything, though.

BB8. I didnt watch it at the time as it was crap for the first few weeks and I couldnt get into it at all so I gave up. Then I tried rewatching it not long ago and it bored me to tears.

I actually loved bb12..and never found bb4 as boring as most people did

Marsh.

BB4, 8, 11 (and 15 once it's over) were all terrible but I'll go for BB8 given that was the series that undid all the brilliant work until that point and ultimately marked the beginning of the end for Big Brother. 2006 was the last year that got the nation talking and that's no coincidence.

Marsh.
21-07-2014, 08:35 PM
Yeah, I think if BB9 had been BB8 I'd have probably enjoyed BB a little longer. I started to hate it in 2007.

I do wonder what the outcome would've been in BB5 followed BB3 or, as you said, BB9 in place of BB8.

Probably part of the problem was extending the duration to 13 weeks rather than the normal 10. It's too long to be invested in one series, IMO.

Shaun

I'll never understand why people blame BB8 for the downfall of Big Brother when it came literally 6 months after the race row, and the real reason everyone turned on the show.

I suppose it was inevitable after the good run of 5-7 (well, I would say 3-7, but apparently that's debatable :p) that there'd be a bit of a downturn but I don't remember BB8 being all that bad? I still remember it being covered by all sorts of media publications (the whole Chiggy thing was all over Heat magazine and the like, do they even cover BB any more?) and it had pretty decent ratings. I mean it was a solid 1m up on BB9, for starters. (3.8m average vs. 2.8m)

And in terms of housemates/entertainment... pretty much everyone delivered in that cast (except Kara-Louise, Liam (the proto-Winston) and Jonathan).

They don't end a discussion. They give an answer to the thread's question and then you say "You're wrong". Maybe try starting a discussion in the first place and ask people why they chose things?

A Big Brother forum probably isn't the best place for you to be if you're in search of intelligent discussion. And nobody needs to justify themselves to you. Unless they're claiming their opinions to be fact they can be as succinct or explicit as they want.

since WHEN is BB2 considered a step up from BB1 (unless we're not talking about how good the series actually is, but are talking about like success and viewing figures and whatever)

I think it's pretty obvious that was Marsh's opinion and you yourself said that there's a difference between what someone thinks of the quality and objective features, such as ratings (they were the exact same for both series).

It would also help if you weren't so condescending. Maybe then people would be more willing to explain.

But no BB8 wasn't awful in the slightest, the interest was still there (Charley's fake eviction getting like 6ish million and so on)

No, "everyone" wasn't involved. Stop jumping into threads and trying to misconstrue everything to try and "get one over" on me. It's incredibly tedious. If you don't actually understand what's been discussed in the thread, then ask, don't jump to a conclusion just to post something against me, yet again.

Move on.

well someone thinks quite highly of themselves. i defended troy because i cringed at how he was suddenly being ganged up on, and i find that we agree on a lot so naturally i was gonna be on his side. we spoke about how similar our views were in the thread, i didn't come here randomly to just 'post against you', don't flatter yourself.

find it hilarious how you lambast someone who has a different opinion for apparently not letting other people have an opinion (you say this ALL the time, it's truly truly tedious) and accuse anyone who calls you out for being in the wrong as simply trying to get one over you. get off your high horse love.

Ganged up on by who? Me? I was the only person talking to him about it.

It's not about having different views, it's about him coming into a thread and telling people "Your opinion is wrong, I'm right".

Why is there so much hate for BB12? [no major spoilers plz] I'm only a week into it and it seems fine so far.

I'm working my way backwards, so I've only watched 15, 14 and 13 in full and the more I see, the worse 15 seems so that's probably my least favourite so far, but I'll have to wait and see how that changes.
