The Celebrity Big Brother rumours are continuing to fly, with troubled Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell the latest name to be linked with a place in the house.

According to the Daily Star the 49-year-old – who was acquitted of child sex offences earlier this year – is in ‘advanced talks’ to take his place with the other famous faces when the series returns next month.

The paper reports that producers had also hoped to sign up co-star Bill Roache – aka Street stalwart Ken Barlow – who also faced trial for similar offences this year, and was also found not guilty.

However their plans to secure a Corrie double act for the house have fallen flat after Roache turned down the chance to appear.

‘They wanted a double-whammy of Le Vell and Roach. Bill was their main target, but Le Vell is now a man transformed,’ a source claimed.

Michael Le Vell returned to the soap following his acquittal, but later took a break to enter rehab for his drug and alcohol issues.

If he does sign up for the house he will join a line-up currently rumoured to include Misfits star Lauren Socha, Kelly Brook’s fiance David McIntosh, Hollywood actor Gary Busey, reality star Stephanie Pratt and Gogglebox trio Steph and Dom Parker and George Gilbey.

The show is reported to be kicking off on August 18, although no official date has been confirmed by Channel 5.
