Really I would think that would make him less greedy seeing as he's possibly loosing thousands of pounds for himself.

He thought of the family before the money.

The others blew thousands and he was last in without any knowledge on how long he had to spend with them as theres no countdown in the room.

When Mark went in it stood at £3,100, not £4000 - plus the other HM's were saying it was going down way faster when he was in. He also had 2 people to respond to, not one, so overall, he did well if not better than the others.
I think talking to family and friends is worth more than money anyway.
