View Full Version : Celebrity Big Brother 14 Ratings Thread
I don't get why you don't like CBB in summer, if anything it's refreshing to have after BB. But if there is really successful BB like BB 14 then it's not really needed, the series isn't flopping at all, ratings have been decent.
It isn't refreshing at all it just put the attention away from the main show and it drags the show after 10 Week of BB it's tiring
Normally I'd agree, but BB15 left with such a bitter feeling about BB in general that I am happy that CBB14 came along after to try and make me completely forget about it.
Also, how is it flopping? It has come close to overtaking ITV in around 5 occasions and it did overtake it on Tuesday night. And it is pretty much stable on the previous two summers despite there being around 4m less viewers a night of TV this year than those two series.
It doesn't matter if BB15 left a bad feeling not all series have to end in a good way it's still tiring and it puts me completely off the show
and btw I didn't say it's flopping I just hope the ratings aren't good so it's not in the next contract

You said, "I hope the ratings aren't good" but they are, so no doubt they will keep it on in the summer too. Ch5 has never managed to beat Ch4 and BBC2 in the summer before until CBB came along, and to be 50k away from surpassing ITV too on a Weds night! Yes, there is no chance they will not want that.
Ch5 ratings in the summer in the past have been sub 1m on average, with in the winter being around 1.2m average.

Something iffy with the rating, I don't think the 1.87m incl +1 if tape checked (show finished 6 mins early last night). DS reporting 1.81m excl +1, and I doubt it only got 60k on +1 considering the lowest +1 rating so far in CBB has been around 110k. Last Friday's +1 was 140k!
I reckon last night was more like 1.95m.
As for tonight, for sure, will be a series low. It's a Saturday, no where near as much hype as last Saturday, and Twitter seemed very empty.
It was diabolical. The storylines were tedious and the constant arguing every three seconds was off-putting and tiresome. It deserved them awful ratings.
We went weeks without arguments so that's not true. CBB14 has had more arguments in 13 days than BB15 did in 72.

Leslie's eviction actually was close to 2m.
But disappointing, it will be at 1.8m+ tonight I'm sure! The Saturday and the slot change didn't help, I just ignore Sat ratings nowadays anyway. It did come 3rd in its slot which is not bad, looks like everything bar THE X Factor was low, Tumble on BBC1 dropped to 2.7m for example and Dr Who dropped a lot.
Officials released tomorrow! We know the launch got 2.75m, hoping we see 2.1m+ for the Tuesday-Sunday episodes!

Meh, it's a Saturday. 3rd in it's slot is decent.
Its not decent at all.
The show needs to be getting 1.5+ on a Saturday or its going to be the lowest rated CBB ever. The show isn't on long enough to be able to take such a dent.
I cant believe it got 1.09m (5.4%) 1.2 with +1 :o has to be the lowest Saturday rating ever! The weeknights have been doing so well im looking forward to seeing those first officials tomorrow.

Seems like people didn't need to worry about Saturday, it surged to 1.96m incl +1 for last night! 2nd highest non launch show of the series (behind the first Friday's 1.99m).
Meanwhile X Factor dropped a massive 1.3m from the night before and got 8.2m (odd considering Sundays usually do better than a Saturday for them too)

I don't understand how its static to CBB12 though when the equivilant week almost every show beat CBB14 by around 200k.
It had 4 highlights that hit over 2.5 yet CBB13's highest highlights show is 2.39
:/
These averages really don't make sense to me sometimes, surely if a show was getting higher ratings each night the running average should be higher?

Ah, I was speaking about its series official average, it should be noted that both CBB10 and CBB12 declined rapidly after the first week. CBB12 averaged 2.50m in the first week, yes, but that was slightly boosted by a much higher official launch rating, CBB12 then fell to around a 2.1m official, didn't it?
I know, I shouldn't compare this first week with the whole series of CBB10 and CBB12, but it gives us ground to work with.
As for the missing +1 rating, Tuesday got 2.16m.
So, we have:
Mon: 2.75M

Sat: 2.03M

Agreed, I know it makes no difference but according to Bbspy the BB15 official average is 1.57m (however still with 10 +1 missing that no one can find).
But yes, here were the week averages for CBB12:
Week 1- 2.50M
Week 2- 2.33M
Week 3- 2.15M
= 2.3m official
Hoping CBB14 doesn't drop across the run and hopefully will avoid being the least watched CBB (would need to drop under 1.8m daily) but to be fair even if it does, I think Ch5 would applaud at the climb from the civilian series.

Poor rating last night.... 1.57m incl +1
The 10pm slot just isn't working for CBB and really dragging the average down, now it will be worse with parents and kids/college starting again, so people can't really afford to go to bed at 11pm. Change it back to 9pm, there is literally no competition apart from In The Club on BBC1, I mean 9pm slot on ITV got 1.5m! Move it to 9pm!

I think we're all getting BB fatigue which is understandable after almost 90 days!
Shame the rating wasn't great at 10pm.. though saying that the share is pretty impressive!
I just hope the producers, directors, whoever's actually in charge of commission, continues to look at the shares. As we know, this year, more than ever people aren't watching Live TV, so for CBB to hold a 10% share imo is pretty impressive after nearly 15 years, and hopefully the ratings - if they turn out low in the long run - suggest there's still a strong marketplace for Celebrity Big Brother. My main issue is civilian, it got a 5.6% share, compared to Channel 5's annual average of 4.4% of the market.
Just so anybody's interested, I thought it'd be interesting to showcase the shares and ratings of each CBB. (NOTE - The viewers in millions are official ratings, therefore the actual share is not representative of the overall viewing population, but I was interested to see if there's a correlation considering most officials increase 200-300K.)
CBB8 - 2.8M (12%) (S)
CBB9 - 2.6M (10%)
CBB10 - 2.2M (9.4%) (S)
CBB11 - 2.8M (9.9%)
CBB12 - 2.3M (9.9%) (S)
CBB13 - 3.0M (10.9%)
CBB14 - 2.32M (9.4%) (S)
So currently.. CBB14 is pretty much on par with the previous summer series, ever so slightly higher than CBB12. And with the same share as CBB10 of 9.4% the viewing figures for Celebrity Big Brother are extremely stable.
Overall CBB on Channel 5 holds an average of 2.57 million viewers. With an average share of 10.2%.
So in all, the current run of Summer CBB14 is underpar with the total average, however still up on the average in terms of numbers for summer, and on par with the share of 9.4%. Of course, a week's official ratings aren't a lot to go by, but in terms of stability, CBB is doing extremely well. Of course, summer and winter must be spoken of separately.

Interest has definitely waned since the first 2 weeks.
With only 8 days left its safe to say this will be the lowest rated CBB. Im thinking an official average of around 2.1.

It's 1.78m incl +1 Dan.
As it was 1.62m and then 157k on +1.
Its on the low side but I'm not surprised with the football and Our Zoo facing it (which followed the HUGE Bake Off). I think that this series will probably rate at 2.2m officially, the same as CBB10.

That is really bad for a celebrity series - though not much has been happening in there. Tasks are rubbish and they are not given much to do. And it had a very promising start!!

Such a shame, its the people's fault for not voting to save Frenchy :( I voted her and Gary. Now, knowing the public, Gary and James will be out tonight...
It seems that this series will be the lowest CBB, well, you know, if BB was the lowest ever, it only makes sense that the CBB following it would be too. :(

The latest Celebrity Big Brother live eviction peaked with 1.74 million on Channel 5.
Friday's (September 5) double eviction entertained an average audience of 1.61 million (8.4%) from 9pm, as Kellie Maloney and Stephanie Pratt were the latest to leave the house
In a change from the regularly scheduled programming, it was followed by 811k (5.9%) for an episode of The Joan Rivers Position and 519k (0.9%) for Big Brother's Bit on the Side.

To be fair on BB, last nights rating is OK considering how low it has dropped the last few days. It was 100k up on last week and only 100k down on the last Saturday of CBB12, I know it only clashed with X factor for around 4 mins last night but that could have made a tiny difference, I thought CBB started at 9:20pm, right after X Factor but it started at 9:15pm. I mean last Sat went from 1.21m and then got 1.96m on Sunday; I never look at Sat ratings much, but it was up. Tonight, I reckon 1.8m.
There is still question marks above Fridays rating. It got 1.61m excl +1, and on average the evictions have added around 110k so we are looking at around 1.72m for Friday.
I'm looking forward to the officials tomorrow, but they won't be that high I don't think, as people said, people are slowing down their watching, it's been on for so long!

All incl +1 except Friday. Sat really dragged it down, if that wasn't included, it would have averaged around 2.2m.
Monday- 2.13m
Tuesday- 2.10m
Wednesday- 2.19m
Thursday- 2.38m
Friday- 2.08m excl +1
Saturday- 1.56m
Sunday- 2.37m
Week 2 officials (with Friday's +1 excluded) is 2.12m.
So, looking at the 2.32m from week 1 and 2.12m from week 2, the series is averaging 2.22m.

Yeah the Sat only got 1.21m in overnights. The Thursday and Sunday officials are higher than most CBB10 and CBB12 numbers which is great, shame the others were lower.
It will sadly be the lowest CBB, but I am sure it won't fall beneath 2m so its still good, especially following the ratings of BB15 and how long its been running.

If that +1 was from TVRatingsUK, they are not reliable, that's what lots of members have said, they just randomly assume. I believed it during BB15 but then when we got real figures, they were never right.
Also assuming that the +1 for CBB has never been under 110k for a 10pm episode, I doubt its correct. If we compare, last time it aired at 10pm, its +1 got around 130k I think.
So it's most likely higher than 1.60m. Even if it was 1.60m, CBB came 2nd in its slot.

They are usually exactly the same as what DS provides when they provide +1 aswell mind.
DS didn't provide +1 today and doesn't that only usually happen when the +1 figure falls below 100k?

They are usually exactly the same as what DS provides when they provide +1 aswell mind.
DS didn't provide +1 today and doesn't that only usually happen when the +1 figure falls below 100k?
What that source does is wait for the DS roundup and put the +1 figures as it says on DS, but if DS don't provide the +1, they randomly guess and it is normally to a full figure, like 1.60m, or 1.40m. They are not reliable at all when DS doesn't incl the +1.
Also, normally yes, it's true DS didn't used to release ratings with less than 100k, but now they are not releasing them even if they are 150k, if its on at 10pm and the +1 is at 11pm, DS doesn't report them, even if it got 200k.
I found this out during the end of BB15, because DS never included +1 in its report, and a few times, TVRatingsUK would say it got 80k for example, but the officials would reveal it only added something like 50k. So it was never right, or TVRatingsUK would say it added only 50k but the officials show that +1 was like 190k.
As for tonight, not expecting a climb at all, it struggled last week with Our Zoo, and now it has that and the new series of Scott and Bailey which usually gets around 6m.

SUCH AN AMAZING RATING!
I am thrilled with the consistency of the show! And the proximity between the likes of BBC One makes me weak. Piers has had his day pretty much everywhere. It's amazing that before CBB or even BB.. Channel 5 would consistently fail against the Big 4, the fact that it continually beats and edges closer to beating them is an amazing feat, despite what others will say about how 'poor' the ratings possibly are.
It's clear that BB and CBB is still a winning format for a more low key channel and I hope those at Viacom take this into account, would love to see a cult resurrection of the show as all it really needs is a little more effort and care and the potential to gain audience attention is clearly still there, evident in the consistent ratings.
Nice share, Nice rating for BOTS too! It might rate one of the lowest, but in fareness this is perhaps one of the few summer series of CBB in a while that has continued to thrash the likes of BBC Two, Channel 4 and more recently ITV!
Hats off to the producer's, this series was good, although lengthy at times, it had some very strong moments that'll go down in BB history!
So happy for Gary's win too, so deserved!
Amazing rating :clap1:

15-09-2014, 12:52 PM
Two do not include +1
Monday- 2.25m incl +1
Tuesday- 1.94m excl +1
Wednesday- 2.09m incl +1
Thursday- 2.04m incl +1
Friday- 1.87m excl +1
Saturday- 1.64m incl +1
Sunday- 1.89m incl +1
To be expected, the week didn't do well in the overnights. Two don't include +1 and one still has a +1 missing from last week.
Adding these and the other officials, the official average (with only 5 more officials to go) is 2.13m. But with two of the overnights in the last week being 1.93m and the final being 2.18m which look likely to be at around 2.3m and 2.5m,PLUS the missing +1 ratings, we are looking at an average of 2.2m, the same as CBB10. It is under 2.15m at the end, it will be the lowest CBB.

Heres the last weeks officials and again theres +1 figures missing. Its so ****ing annoying.
Monday: 2.15
Tuesday: 1.89 (Excluding +1)
Wednesday: 2.25
Thursday: 2.08
Friday finale: 2.39 (Excluding +1)
Average 2.1 Excluding various Plus 1 figures so maybe that will climb to 2.2 and avoid being the lowest rated CBB ever

Celebrity Big Brother's series average was 2.16m (9.7%), including +1.
The last week went...
- 06/09/2014 - 1.64m
- 07/09/2014 - 1.89m
- 08/09/2014 - 2.14m
- 09/09/2014 - 1.98m
- 10/09/2014 - 2.25m
- 11/09/2014 - 2.08m
- 12/09/2014 - 2.47m
CBB12 last summer ended with 2.59m so it was down 120k from that, and it officially averaged 2.3m. CBB10 two summers ago ended with 2.41m, so this series beat that by 60k, and it officially averaged 2.2m, so CBB10 and CBB14 are joint least watched.
CBB on Ch5:
CBB8- 2.8m
CBB9- 2.6m
CBB10- 2.2m
CBB11- 2.8m
CBB12- 2.3m
CBB13- 3.1m
CBB14- 2.2m
Note that there are still three missing +1 figures.
Jake.
