Why are these sanctions being introduced? Sounds like a baby throwing it's toys out of the pram if you ask me.

During there cld war russia had an infestation of beetles that made food prices rse they claimed the US dropped beetles al over russian fields. I'm sure they will make similar ridiculous claims when the russian people start complaining about higher food prices.

The thought of a Russian harvest failing during the Cold War was one of the things the West worried about most. I'm not convinced about the "beetle" story. However, we (the Allies) did drop Colorado beetles on Germany during WW2 that destroyed their potato crop so never say never.

I'm doing a great deal of agreeing with you today, Alex. This is quite true. I can't see any reason at all to blame the US for this. In fact, when it all kicked off Obama stated publicly that he would prefer Europe do deal with it.
