As reported on the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6054882.stm)
Well that wraps that up
In other news
Christmas this year has been cancelled as Santa has been declared bankrupt.
All the elves have been made redundant and have lost their pensions as well
Santa was not available for comment, but administrators have reposessed his sleigh. There is concern over the deer, as one spokemen said "Deer of ths type are expensive to house, and some form of euthanisation can not be ruled out."
When asked "what about the children" the chief liquidator of Scrooge and Marley replied "I know there will be a lot of disapointed children out there but they have to learn that life is not fair and the world does not owe their greedy little chops a living, they will have to just lump it"
It is not all doom and gloom as one Rabbi has pointed out, Christmas may have come to an end, but there is still plenty of room to celebrate Hannuka

RUDOLPH CHOPS?
Fears for Santa's reindeer intensified when rumours circulated that the butcher chain Todd's Meats has put in a bid for them. It has been known that Todd's meats, famous for their pies, had been trying to break into the high class game meat industry. One meat industry insider said "If Todd's can sell vennison pie made from Santa's former reigndeer, then their are buyers all lined up, and some of them are from overseas".
The reindeer came onto the open market yesterday when liquidators were bought in after Santa Claus was declared insolvent by the North Pole High Court.
No one from the liquidators or Todds Meats were available to comment. Santa on legal advice also has been advised not to speak to the media.
Gwendlethorp the former chief elf said this was devastating news "There is enough suffering but to kill Rudolf, Donner, Blitzen and the rest will just compound this, but we are powerless to stop this"
Industry insiders offered little comfort as one said "This type of reindeer is expensive to maintain and it is the duty of the liquidators to recover monies in any way possible. An offer from a meat company for the reindeer to use in pies would have to be favourably looked upon. There is no room for sentiment in these cases"

The Pixies
We Rescue Rudolf
And Co
Today The Pixies has successfuly put in a bid to buy Rudolph and his friends from out of the clutches of a meat pie manufacturer. Ever since Santa Claus was made bankrupt due to unpaid German landing fees earlier this week, the fate of his reindeer was uncertain as the liquidators had hinted that keeping them was an unsustainable drain on the assets for the creditors. Yesterday it became clear that a Todd's Meats were in the running for buying them so they could be turned into high class venison pies for the Japanese market. With howls of protest making our phone ring continuously, we decided that now was the time to put in our own bid, which was only just above that offered by Todd's.

Rudolf and the gang almost ended up as pies
Gwendlethorp the former chief elf said this was excellent news, and offered his thanks to all at The Pixies for helping out in this small way. "Christmas will be bleak enough, now that Christmas has been cancelled, but at least the reindeer will be safe.
The Reindeer have been sent to a registered reindeer sanctuary. Any reader wishing to make donations or help out can visit the Adopt a Reindeer site here (http://www.reindeer-company.demon.co.uk/Adopt/adopt.htm)
