View Full Version : Can people explain to me what's so great about Ashleigh?
Yes, I know it's BB15 so there's really been no-one good to support, but seriously after however many weeks I just don't get the hype about Ashleigh? To me, she's just incredibly moody and has acted like a brat for the majority of her time in the house. Even going weeks back she didn't do the fish task and did some rude eyeroll. I dunno she just has always come across as rude, pretentious and incredibly moody. Don't people think the series would've been more fun without her? Sure Helen has caused a lot of tension, but Ashleigh hasn't exactly been the most engaged housemate of the lot. So yeah, long story short, what's the deal with Ashleigh? Why do people like her and why does she deserve to win?

Not ONE nice characteristic,An entire summer sat fiddling with the split ends on her straw like thatch ,squeezing her mush ,or pissing moaning ( in the odd hour she's been vertical) the most boring hm8 of all time ,makes Rachel Rice look like a waitress from Stringfellows !!
Um, she has a brilliant personality like an angry side, funny side and an evil side

For me I started off disliking Ashleigh because she came across moody and unwilling to have fun. But as the series progressed I understood her situation in the house, I enjoyed her friendships with Danielle, Chris and Christopher and I like how she got more involved in the 'game' of Big Brother (i.e. power trips, tasks).
Ashleigh herself is strong-willed and one of few HMs to consistently stand up to Helen who has verbally attacked and shouted down majority of the house, including her friends. Of course she isnt perfect and does act a little 'bratty' at times, for example at Christopher the other morning when she was tired. However shes respectful, loyal and I enjoy her expressive DR visits.

There is huge desperation for an Anti Helen Hero. To the extent where that person's own nasty side is being completely ignored just to oppose Helen. She's been a decent HM after Toya left, but she's definitely being overhyped way too much.

The house may not have always brought our her best sides but out of everyone in there I've always felt she was one of the most genuine and intelligent housemates and i've always found her entertaining to watch. She's been nothing but herself throughout the time in the house and I respect that. She's had alot of challenges in there she's dealt with and I respect her for that as well. She's also shown she's a lovely, sincere, and sweet person. I can only imagine the people who think she's 'awful' are only half paying attention to the narrative of the series and only picking up on the moments when she's bitching because they just want more reasons to dislike her.
The notion that people only like her because she is Anti-Helen is a load of rubbish spread by Ashleigh haters to dampen the merits of her popularity.

feisty - only female in house, Helen's just a jealous beligerant cantankerous embittered ageing shrew
she's shown great leadership unlike many bb women over the years
she does crack good 1 liners
she's not a typical shrieking 18 year old bb hm, clapping like a otter when crisps arrive
she didn't flirt with Ash or Winston (wouldn't without a boyfriend)
I find her friendship with Toyah cool
I find her friendship with Chris endearing
I found her friendship with Danielle bonkers and loved it
I liked fact she said Kimberly wasn't good enough for Steve
She plotted to get rid of Ash
She refuses to be Helen's bitch
Telling somebody that they're 'easily pleased' because someone's opinion differs from theirs shows that they're not worth putting your point across to. They'll never listen

Helen is a bully, we can all agree on that. She insulted Matthew for being a feminine skinny boy, she called Jale fat and so on. Helen looks at Ashleigh and see's an image of what she wished she was during her teenage years, and it fills her with anger. Has anyone noticed that she dare not sit and throw insults back and forth against Ashleigh? Every single time she walks off and fills her clique in on what happened, usually to her benefit. If they get into a full blown row, we will see Helen cry her eyes out, I guarantee you that. That is one of Ashleigh's appealing points, she is Helen's kryptonite and Helen cannot stand it. She's the only person Helen will reel herself in against and leave/shut up before it escalates.
Her other good points are that she's normal, who doesn't sit with their mates and bitch about people they don't like? Difference with her doing it, is that like most people, it is venting, and allows her to get her frustrations out so she can then make an effort to like the person in question with a clear mind. Nobody can say Ashleigh hasn't given everyone in there a chance recently, because she has. She's seen the effect Helen has on everybody bar Chris and Christopher and cannot be arsed with it, and rightly so. If Ash, Helen and Pav want to sit outside and bitch about her, go for it, you're just proving everybody that Ashleigh is right in her decision, cheers guys!
She is intelligent, and has outstanding morals. Her calling Helen and ugly so and so is nothing, because Helen has been much nastier to peoples faces WITHOUT provocation. Helen just chucked everyone on basic rations and sat there doing a classic Steven-esque 'me me me' when Big Brother punished them, she's spot on saying they should be apologising especially after they way they treated Marlon. What did she get for her righteous observation? Slagged off and shouted at by the house bike, great.
She is gorgeous, yet isn't scared to sit about without plastering her self up. Every other woman in there has put on 15 layers of makeup bar Jale the second they woke up. Ashleigh doesn't care, she's like Ash, naturally stunning and therefore doesn't feel the need to be a try hard, they're both so confident with their natural selves(they'd make such a great couple ).
The only time she has been in the wrong is arguing with Christopher, but I think that was because she cares about him so much as a friend, and who doesn't lash out to those closest to them when they're having a really sh!t day? It's normal.
That's the beauty of Ashleigh, she is so normal and doesn't try and swing it any other way, she's been herself since day one. She's also out of her depth IMO but in an endearing way. The main reason she hasn't nuked Helen yet is because she doesn't seem confident in a confrontation (YET ANOTHER LIKEABLE QUALITY!) and seems to somewhat retreat into herself when they happen, and good on her. It's refreshing to see a beautiful woman who isn't so full of themselves that they'll claw somebodies eyes out for the sake of it. She was bullied through school, so it's understandable that she isn't that good with confrontation. Yet she's shown she can hold her ground and will not crumble to the vile bitch that's been gunning for her since week 4.

People claim she "stood up to Helen" but apparently pro-Ashleigh's have been watching a different show altogether, so.
It has nothing to do with Helen in truth. I liked her for showing some resistance to Helen and her group by trying to get Ash up. But what I was impressed by was her reaction to everything going wrong for her. She didn't flinch this girl. One of the guests on BoT Psyche said she was as hard as nails and indeed she is. She's made of steel. A very tough young girl who has never crumbled under the weight of the eviction audience being against her, half of the house gunning for her, and being an almost certainty to be evicted. I also like how her own opinion is enough for her and that she doesn't feel the need to debase herself to endear herself to others. She's a strong, clever, savvy girl.

She was so far up Helen and Pauline's ass the first week, but they both weren't really too asked about her and she didn't like the fact she wasn't considered part of the in gang. Once they started being booed she started to act like an anti bully hero from day 1 and started attacking them with Toya(was also was up their bum before)

I don't know where else to put this but I just typed this out on my phone before the thread was closed so I'm not wasting it
If you're at all offended by swearing or people swearing a lot, you shouldn't be watching Big Brother and that's the bottom line of it.
And this thread has once again turned into a truly disgusting display of unnecessary insults about the way housemates look. You should all be embarrassed and ashamed of yourselves, how would you like people talking about your children and family like that? It doesn't matter who you like and dislike, there's absolutely no reason to sink to such pathetic levels. And I'm really not surprised you're starting to offend other members with these kind of comments now. When is this going to be against the rules because as I said in a thread the other day I'm really sick of seeing it and it seems other people are too?
On topic - I was disappointed in her for calling Helen ugly but let's not sit here and pretend she's the only person that's done it this series. And as for this constant obsession with people saying 'there she goes off to the DR room again to slag her off she's got no guts!!!!!!!' firstly that's what the diary room is for - to vent. Secondly if she actually did confront people in the way you're demanding then you would all STILL be complaining because the majority of this forum can't stand argumentative housemates anyway so she can't win can she? Oh and lastly Chris is constantly going up to the DR slagging people off and moaning in exactly the same way, tonight he even did it about the punishment situation before Ashleigh did. And he doesn't ever stand up for himself. Now I like him and I like Ashleigh and I like Helen but this kind of double standards is pathetic and what it all boils down to is endless sexism that's displayed on this forum year after year and it's repulsive. Chris can get away with it because he's a socially awkward 30 something man but oh no the 18 year old blonde girl what a cowardly ugly bitch!!!!!!!! Stone her to death!!!!!!
So, so, so bored of it

I dont really think its about discussing 'fans' as such at all but a group of individuals (who in this case, happen to not be fans of Ashleigh) whom are being insulting (alongside hypocritical) about appearances which is reaching out to members on the forum. When people behave likes this - online or offline - its going to be picked up on.

Yeah I don't feel like I was discussing fans nor do I think I do it constantly (I've made a point of holding off on ranting recently but there comes a point where I just can't take it anymore) but whatever I don't make the rules
I was talking generally about insults about housemates appearances, I don't agree with it no matter who it's about. And I like Chris so I certainly wasn't criticising his fans either, just making a (true) comparison that his actions aren't treated the same as Ashleigh's
Thanks guys anyway

Well, you're an administrator, can't you put in some kind of rule where excessive insults vs housemates isn't on? Sure people like me love to have a laugh at calling people like Steven mouth breathers, but others seems to take great delight in dropping vulgar insults towards housemates that are so below the belt that it actually upsets their fans.
So is offending members
Report it then and if we agree it needs dealt with then it will be.
Now if we could get back on topic the thread won't end up closed

Report it then and if we agree it needs dealt with then it will be.
Now if we could get back on topic the thread won't end up closed

Luke reported the acne comment as it personally offended him and he told me you wouldn't do nothing about it so I don't see what good that'd be.
Over the top insults about housemates are against the rules

That shouldn't be allowed, general insults against somebodies appearance is going to offend other people who suffer from similar problems.

Then what about all the abuse people are throwing at Ashleigh? There are pages of the stuff all over the forum. Calling her a dick is fine, but clutching at straws and throwing out broad statements on her appearance is bang out of order.

Another thread ruined i see.
Ashleigh has some really horrid traits that cant be denied.
I cant overlook how sour faced and bitchy she is it really annoys me.

And that is fine Josy theyre rules not laws so people will be happy to break them from time to time if they feel what they want to voice is important to the thread, themselves or of others (e.g. HMs). Its best to keep the threads tidy and make sure it doesnt become a trading centre of insults but theres no point being a mod and claiming your 'sick' of people voicing their opinions if tbf its quite an important sort of matter or if its something people value. This is. Ive found it bloody annoying tonight and I dont mind that I got a warning for the posts Ive made.

Here here, 3 of 4 infractions I've received on here have been comments I've made, not at anyone in particular, but basically telling Ashleigh haters to stop with the over the top personal comments towards her, as no other housemates get them. Not that polite but you get the jist.

i needed someone to talk to because no one was doing anything about acne comments and ive been down about it because if offends me so much, i was comfortable with it untill i saw comments about it

It's not against the rules to post a negative comment about a housemates appearance if someone is getting personally offended by that then they should probably use the ignore function.
Keep this off of the forum now because it's completely derailed this thread.

Heh, don't know what else to say, 'people who don't like Ashleigh' felt abit long.
I don't view the term as somebody who blindly hates something, but fair point.

You aren't the only one that finds it annoying jords I do too...
And I never said I was sick of peoples opinions maybe you should re-read the warning I posted.
Derailing the thread to moan about something that annoys you is as constructive as those insults tbh
