Let's not ignore the countless times Kim openly invited her to get involved with the rest, but was sneered at by Ashleigh and Danielle for actually daring to talk to them. The House split was down to her isolating herself and opting to just spend the first 5 weeks looking down at everyone else with Toya or Danielle up in the pod or the bedroom with Chris. Hell jumping in the pool was apparently some disgusting thing to do that resulted in her having one hell of a sour face. It's not hard to see why people may find her unlikable..you just have to have an open mind with her not being your fave HM. There are countless things to pick :laugh:

I wasnt a fan of Ashleigh at the start because I thought she was a bit too miserable but then I understood her situation better. She was stuck in the house branded in the 'uncool' group which brought back memories of high school for her, the divide in the house was nasty and uncomfortable and so she wasnt in a good place in mind and naturally wasnt going to be bouncing off the walls. Over the series though weve seen her friendships with Danielle, Chris and Christopher flourish, weve seen her get more involved in the tasks and decisions BB put to the HMs and shes developed a lot since Week 1 and now is one of my favourites.

Is it so hard to believe that someone doesn't perceive helen the way that's the 'norm'?
Not because they wish to rebel against the grain of popular opinion or some vain mirroring?

Some actually 'go against' ashleigh as they can't see this happy girl, just a manipulative, self serving and rude young woman.
I don't think she's far from helen in her treatment of others but isn't as loyal to those she has around her.

She is a real person and real people swear. She doesn't pretend to be sweet, she IS sweet. When you are trapped in a house with scum, you react. If she wins she will be giving to an animal charity. Nasty people don't give to charity. Nasty people like Helen and Winston who scoffed at giving £1k to charity. Winston was one of the nasty gang and deserved to be evicted. Him winning would be almost as bad as Helen winning.

I also agree with Yaki da that people just assume she's sweet because of how she looks. I don't think she is this 'sweet, innocent princess' that people keep calling her, I think it's entirely down to her looks. I like Ashleigh and it's because she's normal and doesn't pretend to be anything as well as other traits she holds. She is a nice and caring person, but she's also human. I do think that some people on both sides of the camp either justify some of her behaviour because of how she looks or use her looks to make her behaviour seem worse than it is (which perhaps straight females who don't care about her appearance may see better than others).

I also don't know why people are complaining about her swearing. Everyone swears. I personally don't swear and never have, but I don't find it offensive and I don't care if people do it. Maybe it's because I've grown up in Australia where every second word people say is a swear word that I don't find it offensive or noticeable, but it doesn't bother me at all. Words aren't important, it's their context.

I can understand why people don't like her, because no-one is universally liked (or hated), but sometimes the reasons given seem to be clutching at straws or using traits that apply to any housemate or any regular person.

I think out of the house away from Helen and her nasty gang she is sweet caring person. Being trapped with Helen brings out the coping mechanism. It is easier to defend yourself if you fight back rather than carry on being sweet and caring.

Chris and Christopher swear. They also bitch. They do EVERYTHING that Ashleigh does. The 3 of them are all nice people, but Ashleigh is the only one who gets hated. Because of the way she looks. Chris had a week of creepy Chris BS but was never hated for same reasons as Ashleigh. Helen would give to charity? Really? Why did she refuse to give £1k of the money to charity then? ..yeah I fairly much agree with this...so much leeway is given for Helen's past and that she may have had a tough life but none is given to Ashleigh for the fact that she was bullied...and I think it's because she hasn't fitted the 'stereotypical victim' thing but the whole situation in the house from the beginning with the clique must have been awful for her and for the first few weeks she looked to me out of her depth...then she started to 'fight it' by trying to manipulate Ash from being saved...probably as a way to try to diffuse the clique and take away a big part of them..it didn't work but at least she tried and she gathered 'haters' for that...

I agree totally, the three, Ashleigh, Chris and Christopher, would like total commitment to peace. Sadly as it was in the beginning it is at the end, they did make quite a bit of headway and everyone seemed to get along, the happiest days of the 3s stay in the house. Who wants to be treading on hot coals everyday, not sure of where the next argument is coming from. No wonder Ashleigh, a lovely young lass with a great heart and a great fanbase, is down. The same applies to the two Chris'.

If we want the three in the top imo we have to put in votes for each one as according to the papers, the two who have just left who thought that they should win, are striking up feelings against Christopher and Ashleigh. They have no shame or any sign of sportsmanship. So for the top three let it be

How can Ashleigh be "blamed" for people voting for her? BB has been going for 15 years, and its not the only show of its type. The voting process is why we watch it.

And saying she won't care is comple personal bias and contrary to all evidence. All HMs have shown to be effected by the crowd. They all listen to the audience on Fridays, they all are taking the little bits of information fed them, like twitter comments, to heart.

Exactly. Winston was voted out by the fans of the show. Everyone is entitled to vote. No one is being forced. If a HM goes its their fans that are to blame.

I don't hate her - but there's aspects of her that I don't particularly like as there are with all of the housemates in there.

I wouldn't seek any of them out as friends - but I can't really see Ashleigh as significantly worse than the others - although reading the posts here I can see that her apparent "coldness" comes through as different.

That doesn't bother me, I don't particularly believe that any HMs aren't there just for the money/tv exposure/career opportunities etc. and I rarely actually believe the friendships formed in there have any great depth or longevity unless proven to be so once they have left.

None of them are evil, they basically are bog standard flawed human beings who are trying to further their careers in one way or another. None of the HMs have to be expected to be grateful to those who have supported them but, they will be. They entered a "game" for our entertainment and enjoyment, we had the option to or not to, not one of the HMs made us. Ashleigh is a lovely soul, intuitive and loyal to her boyfriend and friends. May she take her winnings and enjoy her life.

I would love Chris to win to enable him to progress in his venture. I want to see him succeed as his illustrations are so lifelike, none of this has been shown on the show with the exception of the ones at the beginning. Ones which gave a deep and meaningful insight to the man who has been named otherwise, possibly because of his looks and his stance, his age and friendship with a loyal person. He has handled himself well on the show and I have enjoyed his input. If I had to give an honest opinion I would say that his entrance into the house was to find himself. He thought he had but sadly he was right in the beginning, wrong environment for him.

I wouldn't seek any of them out as friends - but I can't really see Ashleigh as significantly worse than the others - although reading the posts here I can see that her apparent "coldness" comes through as different.

That doesn't bother me, I don't particularly believe that any HMs aren't there just for the money/tv exposure/career opportunities etc. and I rarely actually believe the friendships formed in there have any great depth or longevity unless proven to be so once they have left.

None of them are evil, they basically are bog standard flawed human beings who are trying to further their careers in one way or another. They moan and bitch and can't keep a halo in place - it's all much of a muchness. I can't single her out for extra disapproval although I can for a couple of other hms.

Its not uncommon for friends to disagree with the people that they find attractive. Its actually pretty normal. Most of us have given friends a ribbing over something like this. I've seen entire families roll eyes over a particular spouse that is very unpopular with everyone else.

I wasnt a fan of Ashleigh at the start because I thought she was a bit too miserable but then I understood her situation better. She was stuck in the house branded in the 'uncool' group which brought back memories of high school for her, the divide in the house was nasty and uncomfortable and so she wasnt in a good place in mind and naturally wasnt going to be bouncing off the walls. Over the series though weve seen her friendships with Danielle, Chris and Christopher flourish, weve seen her get more involved in the tasks and decisions BB put to the HMs and shes developed a lot since Week 1 and now is one of my favourites.

imo some people are hung up on her being 'miserable' at times and completely ignoring the situation. I wouldnt be very happy living amongst Helen, Pauline, Steven either.

..yeah I fairly much agree with this...so much leeway is given for Helen's past and that she may have had a tough life but none is given to Ashleigh for the fact that she was bullied...and I think it's because she hasn't fitted the 'stereotypical victim' thing but the whole situation in the house from the beginning with the clique must have been awful for her and for the first few weeks she looked to me out of her depth...then she started to 'fight it' by trying to manipulate Ash from being saved...probably as a way to try to diffuse the clique and take away a big part of them..it didn't work but at least she tried and she gathered 'haters' for that...

Hated? Ashleigh is probably the most popular housemate, and I say this as someone who (though I like her) has grown irritated by her recently.

There's always tons of support for her, on here and other places, so I don't see why people have to make a big thing out of any criticism she receives.

Sorry, I'm not trying to have a go at anyone, but I do sometimes feel that some of her fans act like she's receiving tons of hostility and she's some kind of underdog with the public, but that's not true.
