Finished my GCSE course last year.

I did English Lit, English Language, Maths, French, History, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Music. 10 in total, and I got mainly As, the odd A* and then two Bs as well.

Focusing on my A Levels at the moment, and everyone is going on about how they're important, GCSEs give you a base, etc. etc. so I'm trying to keep up with everything.

Anyway good luck with your GCSEs Sophie

I'm going mine this year too and doing:

Maths
English Lit
English Language
Double Award Science
P.E
French
ICT
R.E (half a gcse )

In total i am sitting 9 GCSE's but R.E being half of one because my work last year apparently weren't upto the standard to be entered for the course or something along those lines. I think she was lying though and it's only possible to get half a gcse.

And the grades i am currently working at...

Maths - C
Science - F
P.E - /
R.E - C
ICT - D
English - B
French - D

So yeah, even IF i got those results ^^ in my GCSE's then i would be happy because there quite ok IMO but i have still got a few months left so can try and improve them, get them up a grade maybe. Oh and science, i'm absolutely awful at it and to get anything above an E in my GCSE would really be GREAT because i'm pathetic at it. I hate it. I really do.

Jesus, i can understand why i am on a B in English, i never stop writing.

I took 13 in all, which was hell for 2 years. A-Levels may be harder, but at least I have less subjects to flit between!

I took:

Biology
Chemistry
English Language
English Literature
Geography
German
Graphics
History
ICT
Maths
Physics
RE
Statistics

I got:

Biology: A
Chemistry: B
English Language: A*
English Literature: A*
Geography: A*
German: A*
Graphics: A
History: A*
ICT: A
Maths: A
Physics: A
RE: A*
Statistics: B

So: 6 A*s, 5 As, 2 Bs.

... Which I was bowled over by! The thing is, I'm not the brightest person, but I did loooads of cramming just before the exams, which I know you're not supposed to do, but that was my strategy, hehe!

Good luck to everyone who's taking them... I don't envy you one bit - at least when you pass GCSE level, you can choose to carry on with the subjects that you actually like, I hated a lot of those!

Are you in year 10?
Yeah until June 18th, then the new Year 7's come up. its werid that most schools go into their next year in September and ours goes in june.

Wow, that's weird.
I'm in year 10 too. LOL It's weird how fast it goes. Does it still feel like yesterday you were in Year 7?
I know it only feels like yesterday i was doing my first induction day at the school. it has gone fast, this years gone fast too. its nearly May. Big Brother Time.

That's when we know schools finished for another summer.

Today I had PCD at my school (Parents Consultation Day) and they basically told us about how we'll be during GCSE's, and I'm expected good grades, yey!

My mum and dad have said, if I do good on my GCSE's they'll take my to Florida for 2 weeks. The pressure is on.
Florida sounds awesome and We had that last year just before i took my options which they told me that i was quiet but expected good grades.
I took a mock Food Exam and i was 1 mark of a C. I was a little annoyed but ok. next week i get my mo-dual science results back. so i have 13 months left at school since i'm going into Year 11 on my birthday in june.

Yeah, they said the same to me. That I'm quiet but that shouldn't effect my grades.

I dont mean to rain on anyones parade, but GCSEs are quite meaningless without other qualifications.......................same goes for A Levels.

Your best bet is to get some vocational qualifications, like BTECs or HND, or even a vocational degree.

Its a competitive workplace.

But you need the GCSE's to be able to get onto the courses for the 'other qualifications'.

What's a HND?

I got a B in my physics, and a D in biology. Apparently thats rare because biology is meant to be easier.

Sure, but from an employers point of view, its much better for applicants to have a vocational qualification. My advice would be to get one of those vocationals as it will help you greatly- and they are accepted by universities.

Oh, and a HND is a Higher National Diploma- one step below a degree. You can do various subjects like computing or engineering.

Good luck.

I have one question about this exam:
I know that in UK you don't repeat a class twice, you automaticly go to the next level therefore I was asking a question, is, if you don't pass your GCSE's, is it ended forever or you have to repeat the class in order to pass it the next year ?
Thanks ! :spin:
