View Full Version : Chris in the pod when Ashleigh praised Christopher.

Did anyone else notice Chris's reaction as he watched Ashleigh heap praise on Christopher, saying 'she will definitely be Christopher's friend for life' etc.

Chris's face!

He had just said the exact same thing to Ashleigh earlier on in the bedroom (and not for the first time) and once again - she had not reciprocated the sentiment.

But then she goes and says it to Christopher instead!

Poor Chris.

But maybe it was her way of dealing with Chris's earlier awkward 'sexy' comment about Ashleigh having stuff dribble down her chin. Perhaps it was her subtle way of letting Chris know she felt a bit off about that comment by directing her drunken warmth towards Christopher instead who (being gay) doesn't have any overtones in his relationship with her.

Yeah did find this a bit odd! A few posters have made observations that Ashleigh never reciprocates what Chris says but I've always just presumed she was quite closed and awkward about it. She did jump a bit at the sexy comment too, but that was just a joke because she was being messy, wasn't it? Or have I read it wrong?

He did seem a bit put out about it, but think he does respect Christopher in the same way that Ashleigh does so was also genuinely happy for him at the same time.

I thought it was a really tight thing for Ashleigh to do!

Just because BB don't show Ashleigh saying something to Chris doesn't mean she hasn't. Surely people know after creepy Chris week that BB can manipulate the edit to their liking. They can even cut out the middle of sentences. Example the upload last week Ash said "Jale was a twat....at the time" whilst talking about the woman on panel calling him nasty. On main show they edited out the part in quotes.

His reaction was pretty bad, although I don't blame him! She basically rubbed it in his face that she wants to know Christopher more, and then when they were sitting round, she moved in and laid her head on Ash's shoulder while sitting hella far away from Chris. :laugh2:

Poor bloke, but he shouldn't expect much given the age gap and the brother-sister relationship they seem to have.

I noticed, it was really odd since she made no verbal comment at all to him saying the same thing to her on last nights highlights.
In fact Chris was like a spare part in the pod tonight with them.

That might be true if she has never said the same to Chris. If she has said the same to Chris it then becomes "I want you as friend AS WELL". We only assume that Ashleigh has never said the same to Chris, because we haven't seen it.

Yeah i wasn't sure. I watched it again and she said about having stuff on her chin and he replied 'that's not sexy at all' in what (i thought) was a sarchastic way - meaning he actually meant it WAS sexy that she had stuff on her chin! (no tittering at the back please!)

Then she responded taking it at face value as if he just called her 'unsexy' for being messy and he seemed happy to go along with that, covering his tracks of any suggestion of it actually being sexy to him. He'd rather be seen to tease her for being 'unsexy' than be suggestive/creepy Chris again.

But yeah he likes Christopher a lot and so he was happy for her to praise him. He just looked pretty miffed that he wasn't on the receiving end of her outpouring like he had clearly hoped to be earlier on when he poured himself out onto her in the exact same way.

I think youre spot on, she's better off saying it like that anyway, then it sounds a bit of a joke but she is still letting him know his boundarys, trouble is, I dont think he is taking any notice of boundarys, are you sure he's not a town planner??

You could be right. He was barely included in the trial task either I thought.

he was coming on a bit too strong with all the 'friend for life' chat

Im sure her b/f will be polite to him on friday but can you really see the family inviting Chris over when they have seen how he feels about Ashliegh #awkward

Ha yeah don't get me started on town planning. If he was a town planner - he wouldn't just be flirting - he'd be building a high speed railway through her peaceful village!

True, but he was facing completely away, staring at the floor whilst his two best friends have a heart to heart, that usually means hurt feelings. He's either never had that kind of talk with Ashleigh or he's a raving controlling lunatic who's plotting how to kill Christopher after it's all over.

He gave Christopher a hug. I like to think that's a welcome to the love club hug rather than watch out for my axe hug

Hmm yeah I'm really unsure, but when she mentioned something like "yeah bet my boyfriend thinks I look really sexy" it almost seemed like she was referring back to some other joke about her boyfriend? I dunno, maybe I'm overthinking it.

Either way, I don't think Chris meant it in a weird way, even if he was making a bit of a dirty joke. I was bloody outraged when Helen was making him out to be creeping on her the other day when they were having a mutual conversation about going abroad, and then she said she felt ugly and then he said she was sexy. She made it out like he just said it out of the blue, and even used a sort of soft creepy voice.

And then she made the comment about him being really into women but not showing it. How can she have that idea about him if she claims he doesn't actually show any signs of being like that?!

He was crying though wasnt he? I just thought he kinda wanted to hide the tears rather than look into Christopher's eyes blubbing

I doubt very much that Ashleigh actually did reciprocate Chris's desire for a long lasting, definite friendship together - and BB chose to cut it out - not just tonight but deliberately cut it out in the past whenever he's said it to her.

I think it's more likely he said it and she simply didn't respond to it, pretty much as it has been shown.

I hope you're both right :joker: he just felt like a 3rd wheel to that particular situation. We see Chris and Ashleigh together more than Ashleigh and Christopher so let's hope. Heck Christopher lives close to Chris so whenever Ashleigh comes to visit (if she does) I don't see why it couldn't be all three of them.

Editing is one thing, but honestly their "friendship" isn't going to continue outside the house. It's the way it has to be.

Why do so many people doubt their friendship? Is it because they look different and the age gap?

I don't doubt their friendship in the house one bit, but she does seem quite detached from him. Considering their distance and different lives outside, I just find it unlikely that they'll really keep in touch.

It's because it's one of those things that occur in the BB bubble, but not outside of it. Like Kim and Steven.

Looks and age have nothing to do with it.

It's her lack of reciprocation, her telling facial expressions and her uncomfortable body language whenever he talks of 'definitely wanting to stay friends with her' that make me doubt their 'friendship' will continue out of the house.

He clearly wants it to - but she clearly doesn't.

BB has definitely been guilty of peddling the 'creepy chris' angle - the animal grooming task being an all time BB low - but aside from the editing - you can see it in her face and body language that she is nowhere near as keen on him as a friend as he is on being friends with her.

We don't live in the house with them. BB edit the footage we see. I already gave a clear example of how they even edit middle of sentences out to suit the edit they want.

Yes you did.

And i gave a clear example of how Ashleigh's body language and face often looks uncomfortable when Chris talks of his desire to be close friends on the outside - that's not something that can be photoshopped or edited - she simply looks uncomfortable regardless of editing.

I mean, they haven't edited in her reaction shots from another completely different conversation and then pasted them on to her talks with Chris just to make a story line.

When Chris talks like that - she looks uncomfortable and non- reciprocal. It's all happening in the same scene, at the same time, same positions on the bed or wherever and often it happens in the same shot.

Her face says it all. And THAT hasn't been edited. Unless you think it's been CGI'd?

You are saying she looks uncomfortable. You don't know if she is. If she was so uncomfortable with him why has she spent the majority of the past 4-5 weeks with him? They spend more time together than any of the other housemates do.

I think perhaps he comes on a bit strong because he's worried that when they leave Ashleigh won't be interested in being friends with him and he wants to make sure she knows that he genuinely cares for and respects her (and perhaps gauge her responses to see where he stands). I think he does know that outside the house they lead very different lives and their friendship is unlikely to hold up, but wants to hold onto it as much as possible. I understand where he's coming from if that's true, because it's very difficult for me to make friends and if I make a genuine connection with someone then I want to hold onto that friendship and will do a lot to make sure that they stick around (although I'm not as open as Chris).

But I'm not sure if his reaction was necessarily him going 'omg she said that to him and not to me', it felt like a lot of that conversation referenced previous conversations where she may or may not have said a similar thing to Chris. I think he turned away because it was getting emotional (and it was about how they BOTH love Christopher), and then followed that up with a hug because he's just very huggy. I think it was like a 'Chris and I had one of these conversations earlier, now we're having it with you and welcome to the family' kind of thing.

lets face it, once danielle had left who else could ashleigh turn to, there was only chris on his lonesome and he filled the vacancy very eagerly, not a true friendship, more so on ashleighs part, its obvious chris dotes on her, but for her, he just fills a gap and gives her support, he was the only port in a storm

She has said more than once that Chris is her bast mate in the house and she wouldn't know what to do if he left. Also as we only see about 40 minutes, it's not unlikely that she has said other nice things about him.
With BB creative editing it's difficult to make an informed choice.

It was probably Ashleighs spiteful way of getting back at Chris for daring to say Helen was hot and the sexiext housemate.
