View Full Version : Will you say Goodbye BB?
I will. I've had it.
I'm finished with BB manipulating the show to favour a certain HM. I've had it with a voting public that crown a disgusting person as a winner. She proved in her interview she has learned nothing when she blamed others for making her 'kick off' and when she cruelly slagged off Matthew. No need to do either - she had won - she could learn a lot from Ashleigh who was gracious and dignified in her interviews.
That is the sort of person the voting BB public want as their winner, and I'll never watch another civilian series again. I couldn't, as the majority of the voters have spoken as to what sort of person they like - which is the opposite of my views and I can't see it getting any better so I'm not going to even give it a chance in the future. The moral decline is just too much.
To all the people who fought hard to overcome the nastiness and unpleasantness that Helen brought to the house - you did well, and I commend your efforts. Love you all!
Goodbye BB - and good riddance.

Right now? Yes, I feel like I probably won't bother with the next one. I feel like this win sets up a bad precedent and the production is very rapidly becoming a joke.
Come next summer though, I'll probably have written all of this off as a bad dream and be ready for another slog.

Surely we watch to be entertained, with whoever wins as merely a side issue?
It makes zero difference to our lives who actually wins. It is the journey from the start of the series to the end which is what keeps us viewing.
If you found the series yawnworthy, that's a different matter and possibly a reason to stop watching.
I still see it as a social experiment and not a pantomime - so I'm sickened by the British voting public's willingness to buy into the shoddiness and manipulation of the production.

I won't be watching next year for a number of reasons...
1 - Finals Pass. I think that was an incredibly stupid idea, and it doesn't seem to fit well in to the whole BB system. I don't really like the idea of someone being immune for a week (or two), but for the whole series! It's just annoying in the extreme. Helen should have been voted out early on, and rightly so, but she knew she could say what she wanted and last to the end.
2 - The Changes. One of the things I used to like about BB was the way the HM could come in to the Diary Room and vent a little (or alot). Now whatever they say is played back to them at some point, just to make more arguments. There's enough talking behind each others backs without making it worse!
3 - Bringing Old Housemates in. As has been said, we voted them out for a reason, and once they're gone they should be gone forever. Seeing Steven was testament enough to that!
4 - The Housemates. As has also been said, most of them had some kind of media experience, beit as a model or something on TV. The ordinary Housemate has disappeared in favour of those who are over the top and generally self centred.
5 - Manipulation. The production team seemed to manipulate the situations that arose in the house (i.e. Chris and his fondness of Ashleigh). Some of it was rather distasteful.
BB14 was a stretch too far (although some of it I found quite funny), but BB15 is so much worse that I've decided to call it quits.

I do agree with a lot of the above. I just hope the producers take note.

If next years big brother is worse I will defiantly stop watching. I might as well rewatch Channel 4s big brother.
I think it's ridiculous you say that you won't be watching next year because of what happened this year. Sure, the production team messed it up, but there's been more than enough criticism for them to realise that they need to change things and step up their game
Rageofangels
16-08-2014, 12:34 AM
Thing is, it's not just this year. It's been getting slowly worse for a number of years. Last year I didn't like it much at all, apart from some of the games/challenges were quite funny. The 'freeze' game was hilarious, and some of the other things were done really well. But this year it took a step in the wrong direction. If this had been a blip I probably would have watched next year, but right at this minute I'm not interested at all.
I don't get the point of stopping watching because someone I like went out or someone I didn't like won. Let's not act like that isn't the reason now
I've watched BB and loved it since Series 1. Only 2 people have won that I was rooting for in all that time.
I've shouted at the TV all the other times when my fave didn't win, but it's not who wins or who doesn't - that has never bothered me. I've always seen what others seen in a winner even if they not my choice.
Not this year. Helen represents everything that is wrong with our society today and to reward her for that is just horrendous. I won't watch another series because I disagree strongly with the public's decision and if that is any indication of how they chose their winner in future then I can't waste 10 weeks watching something to see if they have regained their senses. I have a life. So for me it's goodbye. With regret.

BB has always been full of infuriating aspects and moments.
Conor's £50k still winds me up to think about it.
Yet i will always watch BB as there is no show like it. There is no greater subject than people watching and BB lets us do just that, watching human interaction in all it's muck and glory.
And best of all is how nicely long it is, watching events and relationships and egos unfurl over a nice thick wodge of time.
So for all the manipulation and rough justice and the many moments we all scream at the telly (or at each other) - it's worth it for that totally addictive adventure of watching human beings we love and hate slug it out in bizarre circumstances in sunny Borehamwood.
It's the ultimate guilty pleasure TV show and a great thing to share with others across the land and on forums like this.

I'm utterly disgusted that the public would crown Helen the winner. And i'm disgusted that BB allowed her to get away with things that no other housemate has been allowed to get away with.
IMO Helen was worse than Jade Goody, but remember the hate she received? ..Why didn't Helen receive that hate?
So for Helen, a bully, to win 100k & be crowned Big Brother 2014's winner, just absolutely sickening.
So no i wont be watching BB anymore, celeb BB can do one too.

I was pleased with the winner as Helen did the most to carry the series. She was the biggest character and even though she was a bitch sometimes she does deserve that much. Give it a go next year as there may be changes. If not you can switch off. I for one LOVED this series and DEFINITELY will watch next year!

Yet you supported Ashleigh.
She slagged Matthew off because he called her a tramp. It was a fair retaliation.
No way. Each year is different.
But the knowledge that the British voting public voted for an aggressive, nasty and so un - aware person makes me feel that they have no real values or idea of what self respect is. I very nearly reached the end when they voted the bed pissing, s***ting and booze sodden Charlotte as their winner of CBB - but at least she had a good heart and I could understand it.
Dignity, manners and self respect are qualities to be seen as 'boring' and nastiness, aggression, sneering at those perceived as weaker and explicit sex talk are 'cool'. You can be a nice person with manners and still be entertaining, but that's not want is wanted anymore.
Therefore Helen won. Why would I want to even give another series the time of day? I have grown up kids who watch BB and they feel the same as I do. Disgusted, ashamed and sorry that we wasted 2 hours of our lives every night for 10 weeks watching a farce dictated by a production team to get the outcome they wanted....a far cry from the basic premise that has been going downhill for a long time and has reached rock bottom for me and mine.
If that is what continues to float your boat...enjoy...but it's a pile of mind numbing, contrived s*** and a waste of time for me. Over and out....

Unless there's a major re-vamp i won't be bothering next year!
So many things were wrong with the way they ran the show this year that it was beyond a joke!!!
It's reached the point where they're blatantly mocking the viewers and charging them for the pleasure (....at least the ones who spent far too much 'voting'...) and a lot of those people still think they achieved something by allowing themselves to be manipulated into doing exactly what the show's producers wanted them to!
I just hate what they've done to the show and what a piss-poor, barely recognizable mocked-up version of the amazing show it once was it has now become in the grubby mits of Chanel 5! It used to regularly get nominated for awards (i think it even won a few back in the day) and it was recognized as being ground-breaking TV. These days it's embarrassing to even admit that you still watch it.

That's how I feel.
I truly hated Aaron, it baffled me why anyone would vote for him, I felt he was awfully contrived. And I was disappointed in the public for voting him. But that's just it, I can still look back on the series and find lots of parts I enjoyed.
Regarding Helen winning, I'm happy she did. But I was in the fortunate position of liking the last two finalists.
Did Ashleigh come across as a nicer person? No. Both her and Helen displayed bitchiness, rudeness, vindictiveness, and in fact both of them threatened to hurt other people. The main difference is that Helen did it to your face, a lot of the time and Ashleigh didn't. And if you look at both of their journeys, Helen's behavior has been improving for the last three weeks, while Ashleigh's hasn't. The second truce was suggested by Helen, and yes she was manipulating the viewers and at the same time outmaneuvering Ashleigh.
Also Helen simply had way more fun in there that Ashleigh did. She joined in more, she joked around more. Ashleigh a lot of the time was like Helen but with less aggression and a lot less fun.

..I think if I stopped watching it, it would be more to do with the different Channel 5 format than who won because toward the end/whoever I've preferred I very rarely have strong feelings about the actual winner...but although I preferred 'old BB' and this is completely different in the characters that they choose..it seems to be less the channel 5 original series and too much building up public 'hate'..and whatever their flaws etc..I don't think any housemate deserves that for putting themselves up to be judged and entertaining us....

I'll Keep On Saying Hello To Big Brother!
Quote:Jet
But the knowledge that the British voting public voted for an aggressive, nasty and so un - aware person makes me feel that they have no real values or idea of what self respect is.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The people who voted for Helen may not have been in a majority:-They
probably used multi-voting and had more voting power and multiple votes
than Ashleigh supporters. So it is possiable that Ashleigh has more supporters
than Helen, but its just that Helen supporters voted more times than Ashleigh
fans. I myself voted a number of times for Ashleigh.
I like Helen. She is a bit rough, crude and over the top at times by her own
admission, and she said that she would have been voted out weeks since
if she hadn't had that free pass to the final. She said on last night's Big Brother's Bit On The Side-BBBOTS that she "hadn't won Big Brother" and then broke down - I think she felt humbled. She said that she is now going to
try to become a better person and treat people with more respect, and cut down on her swearing.
Helen was aggressive in the Big Brother House, but the people who voted for
her was not voting for her rough side, they voted for Helen's friendly, caring
good-hearted side, etc, the qualities that helped her form friendships with
her fellow Big Brother UK 15 2014 Housemates, such as Ash,Mark,Steven
and Kimberly.
Having said all that, when Helen was given that free pass I thought that I
hope Pauline has made the right choice and not given it to a bitch!
Given that Helen was warned two her or three times in the diary room for her abusive behaviour, which started calls to remove her final pass, the outcome of Big Brother UK 15 would have been much fairer if Ashleigh had won - some people will say that by rights Ashleigh DID WIN Big Brother UK
15 2014!
Big Brother UK producers are always experimenting, some times they get it right, and sometimes they get it wrong - was Helen's free pass right or wrong?! Anyway,Big Brother producers are always striving to keep the programme fresh.
Well done Helen, anyway:bigsmile: And I will continue to enjoy the regular
Big Brother UK and Celebrity Big Brother UK programmes!:hello::bigsmile::cheer2: And I hope that everyone else does!:cheer2:

I feel the same and tbh for me I have to get out now, I cannot be doing with all the frustration of not knowing whether it is a fair show. I am so inclined to think that it is very unfair, too many people have put things in the air re the Agencies and the Sour Grapes Brigade. I have stood by Chris since day two and I applaud him for his tenacity, his honesty and his dry humour. As Emma said his DR chats were what the public were thinking.
The only thing I liked about BOTS last evening was the end bit with the "Bitch and her Boys", I loved Chris' intake, now why werent we ever shown anything like this. Why werent we treated to Ash and Chris' artistic natures. There are a lot of whys for me but the biggest one is why was Helen given the free pass? That for me is where the unfairness began.

I won't be watching next year for a number of reasons...
1 - Finals Pass. I think that was an incredibly stupid idea, and it doesn't seem to fit well in to the whole BB system.

I will give it another go next year to see what they do with it. Hopefully the producers will listen to the criticism. I would prefer a back to basics, with a minimal amount of tweaking.
IE
No pass to the final
No ex housemates coming back
Minimal feedback from diary chats etc
Dont mind some new housemates, particularly if a housemate leaves for reasons other than eviction, and someone comes in to replace them. Also dont mind new ones that the
public vote in, but much earlier in the series.
As to Helen winning this one, well for me she will just be entered on to my list of worst winners, Would have preferred Christopher or Ashleigh. But will still try next years bb, and only turn of if it becomes a repeat of this year.
