They may look like identical twins, but Alina Davis and Ellison Brux are in fact only related by marriage after defying officials to unite in what is seen as Russia's first gay wedding.

Transgender Alina, who was born Dimitriy Kozhuhov, was able to wed her fellow bride because she still has her male name on her birth certificate and ID.

But the couple faced anger from registry officials after they both turned up in wedding dresses for the civil ceremony in Moscow.

Alina said the newlyweds were told they were a "disgrace to society" and "needed medical treatment" but hope they can inspire other couples.

..yeah I agree but especially with the media attention as well, I wonder if they'll stay in Russia because I'm not sure they'll get much support and probably lots of 'hate' ....
