They were embarrassed by Big Brother, but replaced it with shows like Gogglebox and Benefits Street http://i.imgur.com/gMbmXdj.png

Cheers Zak it is interesting stuff.
They have moved on and have a new identity they are far more innovative than a channel like C5 who spend sometimes huge amounts to outside production companys to bring shows to their station while C4 are developing their own ideas and creating content for themselves.
The fact C4 had 82 brand new shows in a year is pretty stunning.
They are willing to work with some of the best independent British Tv and Film producers rather than import TV or pay over inflated prices for already established shows.
That interview is at the Edinburgh TV Awards where they won amongst other awards
TV Channel of the year.
Its no suprise they dont miss BB.
But...BB more often than not DOES beat them in the ratings. Even the poorly received BB15 was frequently beating them in the ratings. Denial much :joker:
Who is that women, but the guy is right the only time they can beat BB in ratings is when they put a film on so it isn't that great
BB15 ratings even beat there new drama show what got around 400K

She says she wouldn't have gone to the channel had Big Brother remained. :joker: Whatever.

C5 might be beating C4 by a few hundred thousand viewers with a show that costs them £20 million pounds a year for 18 weeks a year but after it has finished it has nothing to show for it when the show isnt airing whereas C4 are left with a homegrown show that it owns the rights to.
They will make a lot more money selling international TV rights for a show to other Stations or Licensing the Idea to other Production Company's overseas to make their own version.
Its that kind of thinking that has won them TV station of the year,
Rather than revelling in the fact that their show won by a few thousand C4 is making the TV rather than buying it and giving British producers a platform to work on and stimulating the British TV and film economy in to boot.
C5 are a trash station they just buy TV shows and try and make a few quid out of the Ad revenue they are pretty much bottom feeders.

Yeah, excellent points..
But apart from winning channel of the year, what have C4 done this year? Their daytime schedule struggles to hit 500k at the very most, and they often come last in the ratings in the prime time evening slots. Jay Hunt isn't good for the channel in my view.

Completely agree with this.
With Big Brother, it had a good 10 years on channel 4 so I would be surprised if they did miss it. They had it when it was innovative and new, there would be no reason they would want it now that it's stale and (at least in its current form) stuck in a limbo and not actually doing anything new.

Jay Hunt isn't good for the channel in my view. They havent done much and that cant be denied they have been through a horrible few years and still are since they let BB go but like Jay Hunt touched on in that video BB was tearing them in two it took over the station and everything else was suffering as a result.
They were paying £40 million a year for BB in 2006 and Endemol wanted to up it to £70 million a year they had to let it go.
Since 2010 they had to completely take the channel apart and rebuild it from scratch. Im suprised it has survived to be honest it has been utter crap for a few years but i think they have it right now even if they dont have the viewers yet the way they are set up now they will come.
I dont know enough of Jay Hunt to comment on her really but she must have seen them through some really rough times and is still there so i dunno.

Channel 5 also has Wentworth which is good. Channel 4 have Deal Or No Deal. There isn't much else any good.

She came across a bit bitter and defensive there. A bit like when you blame someone of making a mistake and they shout or talkreallyquicksotheycancoverupwhatyoujustpointedo ut.
Channel 4 are hardly going to turn around and say "yes we really miss Big Brother, it was the biggest mistake we have ever made and really we should have brought the show back and tried giving it a new look".
It's just never going to happen.
Personally I think C4 is a flop of a channel. Back in 2008 I would watch most of my shows on C4, they would consistently have something every other day to watch, and that's looking outside of Big Brother too. Now I don't watch anything on there, apart from Gogglebox. All their other shows seem to be pulling at strings, trying any idea however trashy to regain back an audience. Most of their recent ideas have flopped. I suppose you can applaud them for trying though.
She doesn't really offer up any facts about them doing better than C5 (from what we've seen these last 5 months C5 has consistently had higher figures than C4/E4). Sure it's only a few months, but C4 hardly does amazing all year round and is nearing on par with C5 figures. Although as head controller you're hardly going to admit your channel is failing or needs improvements.
C5 is no better either, and relies mostly on axed shows from other channels to keep afoot. Although they have improved of recent years and with the new Viacom deal they're in a far better position than C4 and have a more fruitful future ahead.

Big Brother batters what is on C4 most of the time so they can claim they don't miss it all they want but their viewers do and have deserted C4 when BB is on 5.
That woman is a delusional mess.

I doubt they have had, have or likely ever will have anything that consistently pulled in viewers to Channel 4 like BB did.
I think they made a massive mistake,I,for one, rarely watch Channel 4 at all now really.

Hmm I am guessing they like being beaten every day by Ch5 then. Last night they came 6th in the slot, a multichannel beat them! C4 should know they are struggling at the moment too much.
She says she's not worried about Ch5, hmm... really? They say that Ch4 does consistently well, actually no, it actually doesn't in primetime anymore apart from a few.
She seems very bitter with her basically saying that Ch4 is more classy and better than Ch5, she would say that, fair, but to say that Ch5 is no threat.... :joker: Ch5 beat Ch4 around 95% of the time since June.

I feel as if she is ruining Channel 4, Channel 4 used to have a lot of good interesting shows but I rarely see myself watching Channel 4 anymore, and I used to watch it a lot. Nothing interests me anymore on there. I watch E4 quite a lot though.

She has to keep trying
That interview she claimed Ch5 Big Brother was not a problem
but she would never tell us the truth
on a Public interview.
Ch4 gave up on Top Boy
after low ratings 2nd series.
She has money cut backs
that she keeps private.
She can make deals with anyone
so its up to her to keep trying to get better.
The 10 O'Clock Show Ch4HD
is needed all year round
as its news
 satire and comedy Live

um no-a lot of their shows are imported-they import a lot of popular american shows-most of E4 is made up of this. I think the difference is that channel 5 doesnt pretend to be something its not - channel 4 seem far more pretentious/up their own ass now, its news is produced by ITV now-decades ago they used to be innovative, wouldnt say they are now. there is a lot of faff on both channels tbh.
