Gary is 70!

I have been reading a few threads and have discovered that Gary is 70

:shocked:

70 whole years

And what other things I have found out is he has had brain surgery, is deaf, and is a famous film star


Its amazing the things you pick up strolling around the cool marble corridors of Tibb Towers. Next I aim to find out just how old Ashleigh is...

Well no not really if you think a bit more more about it than just OMFG AGEISM!

People on here are posting things they dislike about Gary and that includes ailments that come with age, last I checked Ashleigh never had any physical problems due to her age?

I couldn't give a **** what age Gary was though, I like him and find him one of the most entertaining and interesting people in there.

Umm people have actually posted on this forum they are sick hearing about Gary's hearing problems, and also go on to say he doesn't do any cooking/cleaning and he got excused from sleeping outside so he shouldn't be in the house, which is total discrimination btw, that was the point of my post above, nothing at all to do with rudeness.

I fail to see how that is discrimination.. People also say that they're sick of hearing about Kellie's transition, that isn't discriminatory and she can't help that. the same as Gary can't help his deafness, so if people are using Gary's deafness as an excuse for his behaviour as people are using Kellie's transition as an excuse for hers, then i don't see why people aren't entitled to say that they're fed up of hearing about it without being labeled as discriminatory :shrug:

And it's also a fact that some people of any age (including 18) can be rude and grumpy, a reason why Ashleigh was constantly criticised on this forum because 'that's not how an 18 year old should be acting, they should be happy and enjoying life!!!!!!!'. But it's fine for Gary to be because he's 70? I like Gary, he's probably my favourite housemate, I was just agreeing with the OP that he made a good point and that when you think back to the summer and how many people were fed up with Ashleigh's age being brought up it's just the same thing now with Gary.

Yes.. but i haven't seen anyone say that, people have said that he shouldn't be in there if he isn't up to the job of doing the things that everyone needs to do, i personally don't feel this as I've seen that he is quite capable of doing things for himself, he just doesn't need to.. but i can see where people are coming from when they say that, It's not exactly fair on the others if he's in there getting a free ride while everyone else has to play every part of the show and he get's excused from things.

That's fair enough, tbh I'm not even watching CBB as I was away on holiday up until two days ago so I don't know what Gary is like but I would certainly make some allowances for a 70 year old and fair dues to him for doing it. I did watch BB just gone and I absolutely think Ashleighs age was relevant alot of times too, she was literally just out of school and still only a teenager after all

Yeah they have, on here and elsewhere online, also because he isn't cooking and cleaning.

I'm pretty sure there's been a few housemates that were excused from things like that due to age, disabilities etc.

No i don't think it's unfair to the others to not make him sleep outside either, but what i think most people have a problem with, is if Big Brother think he's so fragile that he can't sleep outside, or so much so that they asked a housemate to look after him, why was he allowed in the house.. the other celebrities aren't there to look after someone else, so i don't think they should be expected to.
I personally think Gary is capable of doing more for himself that he is doing, if they all left him to his own devices, I'm pretty sure he'd manage fine.

My wife's father is 83 and is frailer than Gary and insists on his independence as far as possible - and he still plays golf.
Gary should NOT be made to sleep outside, but he could help with some cleaning tasks, make tea etc and he certainly shouldn't need someone to flush the toilet after him.
