What I meant was pronouncing look in a certain way sounds like the word 'luck' and some people pronounce it more like 'Luke'. Like book, that also has the exact same thing.

I would pronounce Book like rhyming with either of those two either :suspect:

Yeah that's what I was on about, I meant that 'look' sounds like 'luck' in a way (depending on accent and all of course). Not actually saying the word luck but to me they both sound pretty much the same, up north anyway

Well not actually saying the word luck but I meant to compare the word look to another word that sounds how most people would pronounce it.

I think in most (or maybe only some) Northern regional accents, "look" and "luck" use the same vowel sound (unless people do pronounce "look" like Luke, my mum does sometimes) whereas sown South they use different vowel sounds. I say "luck" and "look" exactly the same.

Same with "put" (as in to put something down) and "putt" (golfing term, dunno what it means ). I'd use the same vowel sound for those two but my Southern friends use different vowel sounds.

There's just as much difference between Luck and Luke as there is Luck and look

I get where Redway is coming from.....

I argue with my dad over how to pronounce those words.....I pronounce look as you would say luck but my dad says it as you would say Luke.....

It's hard to explain without actually hearing the different ways but
