So I made a post in Ammi's thread about superstition and wanted to make this thread for a while now.
I basically have experienced strange things all throughout my life. It scares me a little, but I also believe it isn't a bad thing.
I was told how my dads side of the family have all had a psychic (dont know if i believe that entirely, but i believe they do have something) connection to the world. I never really believed it until recently.
Some things that have happened to my family: (mentioned this already but oh well)
My dad had a premonition of my (well his) Aunt getting into a car accident late at night and the car catching fire. He saw someone rescue her from the car, call someone and then leave the scene. He woke up the next morning and answered the phone to find out that his aunt had indeed been in a bad accident yet survived because someone rescued her. She never met the guy who saved her.
The same aunt also told me when her dad died, she literally saw his last breath leave his body. She said that it was like smoke had come out of his mouth. I wouldn't have really believed this but she was crying when she told me and she's not a liar with this type of stuff.
My Grandma used to do psychic readings (dont believe that so much) but apparently most of them used to come true. Meh, who knows with that kind of stuff.
But anyway, back to why I made the thread lol...
These strange things have only really ever happened to my out of my sisters. I used to see people walk into my room all the time when I was little and then I'd look back and no one was there. The first time I stayed at my grandads house after my grandma died, I heard her say my name. I pooped myself pretty much, but now that I think about it, I find it a little sad.
I was working a few weeks back and my last dream I had before I woke up was that I was in a car accident with a black ford fiesta that had come onto my side of the road. One of the first things that happened that morning was that the exact same car over took someone on a country road and nearly crashed into me. I was going slower than normal because of my dream so I feel like it was a small warning...
tbh I don't even believe this 100% but I do think that some people are born with 'spiritual' abilities and I kind of think I am one.
y'all can laugh all you like, but I want to hear your opinions/experiences too...

I try to keep an open mind. I want to believe something goes on after we die and can accept that some 'energy' for want of a better description continues when we have died.
Whether that could manifest itself to contact the living by itself or through others then that I don't know and cannot answer.

I don't believe in religion or anything like that, but ghosts/psychics etc make me wonder.

I do believe we go on in spirit.
My mothers mother was a medium, both myself and one of my sisters have been told we have the gift.
I have felt a presence a few times, never felt scared, just a big wary of one of them.
Perhaps it is wishful thinking when we lose a loved one and we feel comforted thinking they are with us, but I personally think it goes deeper than this.

I'm not sure what I believe, sometimes I think it's all just random events that happen in life and we give them meaning or think they signify one thing or another. Other times I think it's very possible that there are worlds that we can't see, so to speak.
But I really don't know. I would like to believe in something. I used to think there were ghosts and like dead relatives would watch over us, like guardian angels. I'm not sure of that at all though, like for something like that to exist there would have to be some other god like being I guess.
However I do find learning about spirituality and religion fascinating.

This, some things are hard to explain away.
As I said I keep an open mind and I agree with your last sentence completely.

Find it a load of nonsense personally.
I think I'm a very open minded person, but I don't think there's any real logic or proof to this kind stuff.

We have relatively primitive brains after only a very short period of evolution... about 300k years. Scientists estimate, using such things as the Drake equation, there may be approximately 10,000 intelligent civilisations just in our own Milky Way galaxy. Never mind in the universe beyond our galaxy.
Many of these civilisations will have had millions or even billions of years of evolution. To them the human species are about as intelligent as ants are to humans!
Bottom line is that we extremely arrogant if we think we know how to even formulate the right questions, let alone exercise our pea-brains to find answers to the really big issues!
Might as well ask your cat! ;)

okay thanks for clearing that up. thought he was one of those super atheists that laughs at anyone who thinks anything different to them
I believe in some things, not sure if it's spiritual or not though
I believe that residual energies exist for a long long time after the person or thing that created them is long gone iykwim

I get you...
I'm still pretty weary of it all. It seems really complicated to me.

I don't know, probably not but I don't think there's any point in wondering about it anyway, I'm of the opinion that people should just concentrate on living this life, what's the point in trying to figure out the future or if there's something after? We'll find out after we die either way

Thats probably because you aren't open to experiences

I've had a lot of experiences and i've also had a poltergeist in my house
When my daughter was about 9 all the spoons in our house kept disappearing ! I would buy more as i thought my daughter was leaving them at school (lunch box) but she kept denying it was her , my mother gave me all her spare spoons (all sizes) and they all disappeared - One night i stole 56 teaspoons from a motorway service station - naughty of me - 3 weeks later - not a spoon in the house !
I could go on but eventually i lost a necklace - well not lost it - i took it off when i got on my sunbed and half hr later it had gone from under the bed - i turned the room upside down and it was nowhere to be found ! About 3 yrs later i heard your have to ask for things back so i asked for my necklace back - had a sunbed and when i got off the necklace was underneath where i had left it 3 yrs before !! I've never asked for the spoons back as i have no use for about 150 spoons :joker:

So I have to believe to believe?
With all due respect it sounds ridiculous to me so I guess I'll never have one.

I certainly wont laugh, just believe in yourself, dont be afraid and question everything, you will get your own answers.

Some have to experience to believe but once one experiences it is hard not to believe. Once one starts on the pathway of discovery it is a fantastic journey. Each to their own though, to be happy is one of the main things no matter what our beliefs.

Most only use a percentage of their brain but with training we can use more, I believe we do not necessarily have to wait for evolution we can begin on the journey ourselves.

No I dont and there is no evidence to support any of it. 9/10 people like to believe in stuff like this because it makes them feel important and gives them status when they tell other people who will eagerly believe it. On the other side of the coin is an inability to comprehend chance and coincidence, how we filter out information and keep other stuff.
Just look at any fake medium and how they bombard the recipient with information until they get lucky and the recipient then only recalls the bit they got right and leave enchanted etc..
if only people would realise how wonderful and far more amazing life is then the need to fill out heads with baseless made up spiritual crap would be diminished.

Yeah, that's my thinking, religion, God, spirituality etc I don't get the need to constantly be focusing on what's beyond life, if there is something we'll find out after, if there's not we won't know any different. Either way it seems like a lot of wasted time and energy that could be spent focusing on now and the short time we have here in this life.
And on Religion for that matter, assuming a God created us all why wouldn't he want us to just live our lives, why would he want people fighting over him and wasting time worshiping him? It sounds very vain
