Trouble is he is full of his own importance and when others don't seem to agree with his own high opinion of himself he gets defensive and aggressive. He has always felt threatened by Gary and Audley - hence his behaviour towards them. He always goes on the attack with a foul and nasty tirade of verbal abuse and put-downs, usually unprovoked.

Everyone has a sensitive side - but this does, does not justify his behaviour. His feelings of self-importante and the need for attention will always out-do his 'sensitive side'.
