I seen some of the ones in the 80s, mainly cos they were on the telly at the time and I was a kid, but I wouldn't purposely watch them.

What is this thread that you speak of.. ?
..yeah I guess Trainspotting just didn't appeal to me at the time because of the drug abuse thing and I always go on the guys recommendations, they kind of filter through movies and say yay or nay as to whether they think I will like something and that came out on the nay side....I will watch it at some point though...
You really should watch it, it's a perfect film.

Up until a few years ago, I hadn't watched or read any HP... then I read all the books within a few months, and amazingly didn't get spoiled.
I think I must have had some kind of HP filter in my brain for all the years before that... and never actually took in any of the information about the series.
Then I watched the films, which weren't nearly as good as the books in my view.

All three are classics of modern cinema. I still find all of them completely engrossing./ I usually hate overly long films but I think the Godfather films are beatifually paced.

There was radio and TV programme called 'I've Never Seen Star Wars' where celebrities try things that are new to them, but common to others, including watching certain films.

I thought before that could be a forum thread or game where people watch something for the first time, and report back what they thought of it.

I really like the LOTR films, but got about 45 minutes into the first Hobbit film and gave up. Found it painfully boring .
Other than that I'm a bit of a junkie for modern cinema, both character-driven and blockbuster, so there aren't many "everyone has seens" that I haven't seen. Also seen all of the "main classics" from the 80's onwards I would say.
My wife is another story. She saw The Goonies for the first time at the weekend (wut!) and there's loads of what I would consider "80's kids" movies that she hasn't seen... Totally baffles me. All emerged from watching "Stranger Things" - she adored it but totally missed a lot of the references that I was commenting on, having never seen Goonies, Stand By Me, IT, etc.
She had at least seen E.T. :joker:
