Its not the first time Gary has been told hes not allowed in parts of the house...IIRC the same was said when leslie took a strop. Everyone just kinda expects gary to do what they say, and whats convenient for them :/

They needed some space, they had just had an argument, Gary was in a wind up mood (evident from what he did after he was asked not to sit there) and Dee was having a fag, so she couldn't exactly move because that's the smoking area.. i think it was more to try and keep the peace and o stop another argument flaring up, granted it was the second time that's happened to him and the first time it happened was way out of order, but i can see the reasoning behind this time.

She was having a fag, they're not allowed to smoke anywhere but the smoking area.. and he wasn't banned from the garden, he was asked not to sit where Dee was for the time being, until she went inside so they could be away from each other, they didn't say he couldn't sit outside..

I'm a Gary fan, but in this case she was there first, after the argument she needed a bit of space, in this case i think it was a reasonable request, it was only for the duration of a fag and a coffee.

he was told not to sit on any of the seats so he had no place else to go...he was made to feel very uncomfortable and banned from that area, so the evil shain smoking wench could puff on more cancer sticks. disgusting bully.

There are other seats in the garden, like the ones where Edele and George were laying on before, on the other side of the pool, unless i'm mistaken.

So because he wanted to sit there, she should have gotten up and moved, even though she was in the designated area for smoking? Genius logic!

There are plenty of seats in the garden, you are taking it way too seriously, put yourself in a situation where you've just had an argument and you need a bit of space, you get there first, should you be the one who moves:shrug:

Gary couldn't sit near Dee to cater for Dee's obsessive over-reaction. That is how you separate people in a mental home. Civilised people however do not need the extra step of catering for their well being. Civilised people can sit next to each other without a total breakdown. James and Audley shared a dome, and argued in that dome for ages, they did not need to be separated.

She. was. smoking... she was in the designated smoking area which is the only area of the house where you're allowed to smoke, he wasn't banned from the garden at any point, he was asked, quite politely, to wait until Dee had finished her fag and her coffee and went inside, so that another argument didn't break out, it wasn't the most ridiculous ask in the world and if he understood that.

What it boils down to is housemates saying that one housemate is more entitled or deserving to be there than another, essentially aportioning all blame onto the housemate they are not trying to 'protect'. It is appalling behaviour.

I don't see it like that, i see it as being a grown up and respecting someones space when they need space, she was having a fag and just needed 10 minutes to calm down, if Gary had have sat next to her, he would've annoyed her even more, it doesn't make it right what they did, actually if you think about it Gary respected her wishes and came off the bigger person so he was the winner, and would probably think us all crazy arguing over a place to sit, remember there's no winner in an argument:laugh:

That's really not being fair is it? He had a sudden problem with his knee. These type of things do happen. Its one thing to say he is playing a game, but another to ridicule and chastise another human being who is in genuine difficulty. Personally, I think that is the problem that most of the housemates have. They can't differentiate between someone who has medical conditions and someone who is playing a game (as they all are, it is a game show) and they end up criticizing things that Gary can't do anything about, and making themselves look like complete twats.

I don't think Edele did anything wrong. In my view she was trying to stop something else from kicking off because she is probably sick listening to it. Also, she's a mum... I'm a mum... and I know I have needed to put my kids in different parts of the house at times to stop them from kicking off into an argument again.. so maybe it was that..

I will never forget that pool incident, Leslie saying this is my pool, someone else telling Gary that he had no right to be there and Stephanie telling him to leave her Leslie alone. How did they ever get away with that, there was quite a few around that pool. He was made to feel inadequate when he had already been told that noone liked him.
He should not have been told to go away from the seat, he told someone beforehand that he was going to sit out there. Once again he was made to feel inadequate. Audley bless him, had the right attitude when he told Dee to include Gary and not to let the rest of them make him feel unwanted. Not the exact words but that was what he meant. I hope that Gary realises afterwards what a friend Audley has been to him. Would love to think that Gary takes him to his hometown. All sitting around Dee the queen mama bee as though she needed comforting. Fingers down throat jobby. Edelle is sugar sweet but behind his back or near him she has bitched. The only decent thing she did for him was to let him have his letter.
I would like to think that Lauren stays tomorrow and that it is Ricci and Dee or Edelle. Mind you James would be a thousand times better imo. Dee and James......

Dee was the one who wanted space so should have been the one to move around the house and avoid people. Not cordon off areas of the house and tell Gary he can't enter them.
If she doesn't want to be near someone then she should move.

You must remember Edele likes both of them. And Edele doesn't have to TRY and make herself look good. All the housemates like her and that in itself is a good thing, even the evicted housemates. What is it with some of you people and this little habit of mitigating all of Gary's problems to the point of non-existence?
In another thread it was implied that because Gary can form complete sentences most of the time, he must not REALLY have brain injuries.
And now this.
You DO realize that a person with any type of limitations or injuries can sometimes have a good day, or a good hour, where a sore knee or a brain problem can be less of an issue. It's like with anything else. Sometimes pains and ills let up for a bit, and a person can have a littlle peace.
Just because Gary can walk from one end of the garden to the other doesn't mean he's faking his injuries, or that they are less in severity than was originally thought. BB does allow HM's to take any prescribed meds they happen to be on, and does provide pain killers, cold medicine, etc., when needed. Someone's problems can be lessened for a bit when they take such meds.
So enough of this underhanded way of trying to say that Gary is faking it all, is at 100% mental and physical health, and couldn't POSSIBLY have anything truly wrong with him.
I have a problem with one of my legs. Sometimes it is mostly ok, but other times it gives me EXCRUCIATING pain and is very debilitating. The good, relatively pain-free moments don't mean that my problem doesn't exist or that I'm faking it.
Asinine.

I think Edele should have kept her mouth shut. I don't hate her, nor am I "against" her for doing it, but it was actually none of her business. If Dee didn't want Gary around, it should have been she herself to say it.
And it did make Edele appear to be taking Dee's side. Otherwise when she saw Gary she could have suggested to Dee, "Maybe we should take this inside for a while." Or she could have simply remained silent and allow Dee to make the decision, or not.
Why did Gary have to be the one inconvenienced when Dee had already had some time out there?

Okay so;
1. Drop the attitude.
2. when did i ever say that he was faking it all? i didn't, i said it's funny how one minute he was incredibly active and spritely, but now people are saying that he's so fragile and that he was in desperate need of a chair that very instance, when he looked completely fine.
3. I've deal with two people who are in pain every single day, so i know what pain is and what it looks lie, you don't need to explain that to me tyvm.

1. No attitude here.
2. Oh, please... You're smart enough to know how to imply things without coming out and actually saying them. It's a sneaky way of making such implications while still allowing oneself a backdoor to escape through if called out for it.
3. Dealing with someone in pain isn't the same as experiencing the pain yourself. If some caregivers could actually experience the intensity and severity of the pain their "patients" are going through, they might be a bit more understanding about crankiness, perceived rudeness, etc. Pain can do terrible things to a person's personality because, dammit, it hurts! The last thing someone in pain needs is someone getting angry with them or implying that their pain may not be real. It adds insult to injury and makes that person's existence even more miserable. Compassion is called for, and that involves keeping one's insensitivity and rudeness to themselves when dealing with such people.

Typical non-smoker selfish attitudes..........throw all the smokers out to some shabby makeshift beer garden in rain. hail and snow.......then come outside on a nice sunny day and yap and gurn about all the outside tables being taken up by the smokers who have sat there all ****ing winter. Dee has shown her true colours and I dislike her, Gary has been badly treated by practically every single housemate BUT don't suggest a smoker who's upset should move from the smoking area. Edele should have kept her nose out she made a bad situation worse. And BTW Dee's weight is irrelevant to the issue.

Nope, Gary normally sits in the seat by the step, Dee was sat on the one near the wall.
Like Gary then I stand - me corrected, and him because he has been refused a seat in the garden. :nono::nono:

Most people would know that you give an argument time to settle down, you don't follow somebody about after it.
Gary is either ignorant of socially inept..I go for the for the ignorant option.
Perhaps he would have liked to sort it out sensibly instead of which to see them sat together would have made him think that they were talking about him and against him which we know they are. Edelle should have kept her nose out of it and let Dee and Gary chat why should he be made the scapegoat all of the time.

Asinine.
I've read through this thread over and over and do not see once that LiamPRW has said Gary is faking it.
This thread is about Edele saying to Gary to basically give Dee some space after an argument, it makes me sad you can't see it for what it is.

Okay so;
If 3 is true why have you shown him zero empathy

Compassion is called for, and that involves keeping one's insensitivity and rudeness to themselves when dealing with such people.
brilliant post. maybe thats why we have so many cruel uncaring nurses in the UK
