Season 3. :nono: When we meet divine Juliet.
However much I hated the direction it went in and some of their stupid decisions, those first three seasons are still some of the best TV ever made. I have to give them that. :flutter:

I loved the first couple of Seasons but the rest was all crap used to drag it out for as long as it was bringing the money in plus the ending was unbelievably stupid

It was terrible
they basically ended it the exact same way as they'd planned to from day one except everyone already guessed what that was going to be so they added in some stupid alternative reality crap so that it's not the same but it really is
I still don't know what happened in the end, did they all die?

What do you mean? Purgatory? Everyone had speculated near the start that the Island itself was purgatory, which it wasn't. I guess the flash-sideways was similar to it, but not the exact same and definitely not the Island.

It was terrible by the end. I detest season 6.
But the last half of season 3 up to that flash forward. :flutter: Brilliant arc.

:clap1: Spot on.
They threw in the flash sideways stuff to make it different and because they'd had the characters get off the island and stuff so it could no longer be that they were dead from the beginning. But had it ended before season 4 they'd have been dead the whole time.
In fact, I might watch 'The Man Behind the Curtain' tonight. Not seen it for years.
Nope you can not. That would be rude

I'd bet my life that originally the Island was purgatory but because everyone predicted that straight away they had to change it a bit, also because they had to drag the whole thing out as well because they wanted to cash in

Maybe, but I'd like to think they'd know how that'd have been too obvious. They had always known the actual final shot of the show anyway (Jack's eye closing), and I don't really see how that itself could fit with the Island being purgatory, unless they had to die to move on from it or something.
Was the network that wanted to keep it going as well, I think the creators had planned for 5 seasons and the network for 8, so they ended up coming with the compromise for 6.

Personally, i think the Island itself being purgatory would have been a better ending anyway, obvious or not. Just because something is a little obvious doesn't mean it's bad or that writers should change it imo. I would have thought that you'd have to die in purgatory to move on, once you'd graduated or whatever
Marsh.

I always thought that's what the smoke monster was about. It decided when you were ready to move on to whatever came afterwards.
Yeah, I remember the episode count was reduced so that they could spread the remaining episodes over more years.

I started reading it and it's annoying me already tbh, it's not just the ending I was dissatisfied with, it's from season 3 onwards, actually season 5 was pretty good but then it was spoiled by the ending when i released it had been pretty pointless and didn't make any sense. The whole temple stuff for example.
Anyway for me, the whole package matters when it comes to a TV series, the start, the beginning and the end. Infact the end for me is vital, I hate when I'm unsatisfied with the ending of a TV show. Dexter was my favourite TV show, but they completely ruined it for me with the ending (which was even worse than Lost)
Marsh.

Yeah, spending so much time plodding about in season 6 I found more insulting than the actual final episode. That frustrated me so much.
And killing off my beloved Juliet. They threw her character under the bus for that damn triangle when she was a much more interesting character as part of the others.

Read Damon's answers, the 'intro' part is a bit OTT :joker:

And I remember feeling just tremendous relief over the course of this conversation because my fantasy was that would be this kind of culty 13 episodes and out show. Maybe like a Firefly. That was really the trajectory that I was hoping for.
I was just thinking, ‘Thank god, this is not going to be that big of a deal.' That was the night of the 22nd.
:bored: Yeah, you could tell he really resented continuing the show. Should've given it to someone who wouldn't screw it up. :fist:
It was all biding time until cancellation.

Ok I read it all, I think the whole it's the journey of the characters bit that's important, is all well and good but the story has to make sense as well, doesn't it? Also, I think his thing about people wanting it to fail or having a pessimistic view on the show blah blah is just not true, not for me anyway, I really wanted to love the ending and I don't always hate the endings of shows I love. He sounds like he's trying to make excuses for why people didn't like the ending when in reality people just didn't like it cos they thought it was crap

I can only speak for myself and that's how i felt about it, I genuinely hoped I'd love the ending of it like I do for any TV show that I invested so much time watching, sometimes it works out for me(6 feet Under & Breaking Bad) and sometimes it doesn't (lost and Dexter)

I thought it was good up until the last Season, the whole of the last Season was terrible though imo. Obviously the first few seasons were the best particularly 1 and 2 but I still enjoyed it up until the last one :bawling:
