if they are a party we can vote for they need a platform - if you are for them or against them its called democracy.
Reasonable enough compromise I would say
Bet the Greens moan though

[One head-to-head debate between the two leaders who could become Prime Minister – Conservative and Labour. This debate will be co-produced by Sky News and Channel 4 and chaired by Jeremy Paxman. Kay Burley will introduce the programme and present the post-debate analysis. The whole programme will be carried live on Sky and Channel 4 and their digital platforms, as well as having a major presence across social media.]
Yes Ch4HDNews and SkyNewsHD
the best 2.

No the Leader of Labour
must do this on his own.
He represents there fecked up party
[Labour MP Graham Stringer says Miliband's team is 'hopeless']
[Ed Miliband isn’t the first Labour leader to turn on the radio
to hear himself being denounced by the Labour MP Graham Stringer,
but that doesn’t mean that he will be happy about the experience.
Stringer was at it again on the Today programme this morning.]

I agree with you, I would much prefer to have it where we talk about a Labour or Conservative or otther elected 'Party' govt overall as to elections.
No one really bothered it seems how Leaders looked or talked in the far past and you got a Conservative Govt or a Labour Govt.
We all,as voters, do not vote for only the party leaders, unless we vote in their own constituencies.
A Party forms the policies and it is a Party election we should be concentrating on.
We put a cross against the Party candidate, not just vote for a ledaer of a party.
However, we are into this silly media, camera nonsense as to how the leaders look, talk, walk and eat.
That is an insult to democracy completely and why so many voters are turned off by politics too,in my opinion.
We are not electing a President,we are electing a Party to Govt. and it can often be the case that in reality a PM has in fact little power depending on the views of his party overall, such as this PM for instance.
Having said that, Leaders debates are fine by me, I am pleased that Nigel Farage will get a platform despite my totally disagreeing with near all his policies.
I do however think the Greens with elected Councillors,an MP and also MEPs elected should also have a share of the UK parties platform too.
Quite frankly, I would prefer no Leaders debates at all,I think what is needed is a re-run of the 2010 election, showing the hypocrisy of and the way the Lib Dems virtually misled the voters with their promises.
Showing the Conservatives too with all their 'vital' targets and then showing the total failure of near all of them over the years and also David Cameron's misleading the voters as to the NHS re-organisation too.
The main problem for me,in the Leaders debates, is the audience, how they are selected and what questions are asked.
It shouldn't be about who performs the best but who has the right and more to the point fair polices for all.
Sadly, the last debates got bogged down with issues over the heads of some voters and all for the sake of the right questions being asked.
The leaders debates need to be, as to content, contolled by the electorate and not the media otherwise all we will get is another farcical showing rather than seeing the 'real' personality and thinking of the Party leaders.
One big act, with little in the way as to anything really genuine being seen and heard in other words.

If this really WAS a democracy we would hear from the greens also as they are in the commons on an equal footing with UKIP.
Also where is the SNP? it is overall the 3rd largest party in the UK...

Kizzy if only you recorded todays BBC Politics Mid day
Ignore huff early guess
The BBC boss in charge of debates said this is what the 4 broadcasters have agreed.
The BBC will do outside of those
the SNP
and Wales and N.I
Try to keep up
Democracy is Never Better
If a seat in the Commons is the qualifier and the SNP expect to partake then I guess we should also have the DUP (who have more seats than the SNP), and Sinn Fein, and Plaid Cymru and the SDLP. Heck, even George Galloway would technically have to be up there.

What, they're gonna have a smaller debate with all those parties? How will that work when most of them are geared specifically to their own regions and not the UK as a whole

I like this new Set up.
And Great Paxman
will be on SkyNewsHD and Ch4HDNews

Well he's the leader of a party that has been making massive waves in British politics, one that did top the vote in the recent EU elections, has just won it's first seat and will be targeting several more come May.
Both Ukip and the Green's have an inflated sense of their own importance imo, but in Ukip's case it is slightly more justified.

Of course he's happy! He get's to spout his thatcheresque rubbish across mainstream media, he's ecstatic!
It was only a matter of time before he announced getting into bed with the tories as UKIP are in essence just the dirtier greedier cousin of conservatism.
But why is he given this platform? It's not democratic, you can only make waves in this country if it is in the interest of the establishment you do so.
That is why there's a media blackout on 1000's protesting about cuts to frontline services and a newsnight special when Farage goes out for a pint! ( like the 'lad' he is ... oi oi!)

I agree that for the Scottish and Welsh assembly elections, that should be between the Parties seeking election in Scotland and Wales only, also the Northern Irish assembly too.
However, there could never ever possibly be a Welsh Nationalist,Scottish Nationalist or any of the Irish Parties govt. of the whole United Kingdom at Westminster.
The 2015 election will be for the whole UK Parliament and only Parties that are standing across the UK should be in the debates.
The criteria for same being if they have MPs,MEPs and also Councillors already elected.
That for me opens the door to the Greens and UKIP with the Lib Dems, Conservatives and Labour and no other Party at present as to the Westminster election of 2015.

Yes after the Big 4 Broadcasters
put out this plan
The PM went on a Interview
and said the Greens should be on
I think he then hopes to water down Farage.
You can see it like a WWE Wrestling ring
and Farage is like Triple H
bringing his Sledge Hammer Blow
on Ed and Dave
of course on Clegg
he has already knocked him out
