A cute movie (http://eepybird.com/exp214.html)
Anyone had a go at safely doing one of these experiments? :dazzler:
I remember doing something simalar in my Nans kitchen with my Sister, My Nan wasn't very impressed
I've done it a few times, but nothing as impresive as that video.
tip: don't wear good clothes when attempting it, it does go everywhere and over your clothes if you aren't quick

That is one cool video. I saw one on youtube a couple of months back where some American kid had a go outside his house and he ended up soaking himself in coke.

There's about 10,000 Diet Coke/Mentos videos on Youtube.
Lol seems like it's a popular experiment!

I will have to post it up somewhere, but I tried again with proper diet coke (500ml) and half of an extra strong mint as I can not find any mint mentos anywhere.
Again the same result
Nothing

I tried it with mento's and coke and it worked (although not as impressive as some of the videos out there). :spin:

OK getting slightly better here with Mentos and 500ml of Coke Zero (http://stickings90.myphotoalbum.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album30&id=cola_experiment03)
I decided not to put up the Diet Coke and Extra Strong Mints, no point.
According to most people, the reason why Mentos work is beacuse they sink to the bottom and the surface of the sweet provides good nucleation point for the CO2 to come out of the liquid.
According to Mythbuster Diet coke is better than regular coke, and it could be because the artificial sweetners somehow give a boost to the reaction.

I wonder what would happen if you put the mints in the bottle and quickly closed the top... would it explode?
