I think it's something to do with equality. To show they don't discriminate.
Or they just want a nosey

oooooh, it's bit of a strange question
Put in Plantkin and act like it for a few weeks and then reveal that it was all a joke

Surely the best way to show they don't discriminate would be to not ask the question at all?
Some are not even allowed to ask for date of birth anymore to stop them being ageist.

It's weird, some applications ask it, others don't.
I think it's just them being nosey tbh.
I never like filling in the sexuality bit. Who cares if you're gay, straight, bi etc.. it has no bearing on how you work.

It's to do with equal ops monitoring. You don't have to answer it and they are not allowed by law to discriminate because of the answer you give but for equality and diversity a lot of bigger companies will ask that and ethnic origin but have to have a "prefer not to say" option

Why not? Surely in building it only matters that you're good with erections?

If they have a question like that on an application always answer it and consider lying if you aren't gay/bi. It may help your application.
