but because it's always going to be a he said/she said situation the women really can't make anything stick criminally, and he keeps paying them off which means he doesn't want to go to civil court.

8-10% of sexual assualt accusations have been proven false. This is increasingly becoming a problem in the US where people use the law to their advantage by getting 'revenge' on someone by accusing them of sexual assault, many times when the other person hasn't done so much as shaken hands with the 'victim'. I don't feel sorry for rapists, of course not. I just feel like it's important to have concrete evidence before jumping to conclusions, particularly for cases in the United States.

90-92% sure, but doesn't mean all of those were true, it just means evidence against the accuser couldn't be accumulated. Again, i'm not saying this case as well as others are lies, or not worthy of taking them very seriously. I just think it's of upmost importance that the 'victim policy' isn't taken too far, and that the accused rapist also has a chance to speak. Even if it is just 8-10% false, those people who have been falsely accused shouldn't suffer for it, in the same way that those who actually have been raped, shouldn't have to suffer for it either.

all i know rapist/sex offenders will lie and make out it's the victims fault
Yeah but i'm talking about situations where there was no contact to begin with, and the 'victim' just claims they were raped. So in other words nothing to do with the 'constent/no consent' argument since nothing actually happened in the first place

I would imagine a bigger problem then people being falsely accused is people being afraid to come forward and report a sexual assault/rape incase they're not believed. The first thing you said when you posted in this thread was "most likely a lie" Why is it most likely a lie if 90-92% of cases aren't lies?

I take back the most likely statement. Having seen a friend get falsely accused in the past year, I think i've become particularly cynical to the notion of rape and false allegations. Don't get me wrong Niamh, it is a super serious issue and rape should never be condoned. All i'm saying is that the legal system needs to find a balance between being there for the victim and getting tricked by the false victim, if that makes sense.

this is why I get why not everyone will come forward because, they are not sure if people will believe them. because criminals always lie and blame the victim, making out it is their fault.

The whole 'It's probably a lie for attention' attitude that people have about accusations of these sort is one of the main contributors as to why people don't come forwardd, especially in a celebrity case, it's disgusting.
Someone comes forward with an allegation of rape, against anybody not just a celebrity and people expect the accused to be 'innocent until proven guilty' but yet have no problem throwing away the accusers story as 'attention seeking' or lies, society is ****ed if an accused rapist get's more backing or sympathy than the accuser.

So so many people lie about celebs doing awful things to them. I think there will be a MASSIVE difference in actual sexual harrasments claims with celebs and non celebs. A lot of the time, people just want money and I think that this is another one of those examples
I really hope its not true, as I love Bill Cosby. But I also hope it's not true because it would be awful for the victim.

These accusations have been around for a long time. Apparently 13 women dating back to the 70's have made complaints and they all tell similar stories of him drugging them. Only last week the comedian Hannibal Burress did a routine that mentioned the alleged sexual assault that caused a bit of a storm.

To say outright that the accusations are 'probably all lies' but then demand people not to judge the accused in the same abrupt way, is not only hypocritical, but a bit dicky.

Raph is not a bad person to be honest, he doesn't mean to say things in a offensive way(people take it out of context). He just stating an opinion which some agree and some don't. He is a good person and one of the kindest members on here.

Technically it's an opinion but whatevs.
I jut think that some of the things that he has said about serious issues are wrong, to flat out call a women a liar without seeing any evidence that she is doing so, when it comes to a sexual assault charge is in my eyes, disgusting and to try and claim it as fact is even worse.
Now especially considering the former accusations against Bill Cosby, where he payed off people to be quiet, where many of them have mentioned the drugging as a way to assault them, the story rings quite true.. maybe she might be lying, we won't know until it goes to trial, but to flat out call said accuser a liar, without rhyme or reason, is appalling.

I don't know Vicky, I mean it's easy to say oh just bite him and that's it run for it, but in various situations usually when you try to fight back against an attacker they fight back harder and then you're really in danger.
Vicky.

Ithinkiloveyoutoo
19-11-2014, 06:22 PM
That's assuming the bite is strong enough to cause any damage. But that's not really the point though. If someone says for example the murderer hooked his arm with mine and walked me to an area, you don't say why didn't you pull the knife out of his pocket! It's like blaming the victim for not acting quick enough or fast enough in the midst of fear and uncertainty.
