The X Factor will have a Girlband vs Boyband theme on next week's show.

This year's run has so far included Number Ones, 1980s hits and Movies Week, while this Saturday's show is the Halloween-themed Fright Night.

Weekly themes are usually revealed on the preceding week's results show or Xtra Factor broadcast, but producers have confirmed the November 8 plans early.

The 2014 judging panel features former Spice Girl Mel B and ex-Girls Aloud star Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

It is rounded out by former Boyzone and Westlife manager Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell, who has played a key role in the careers of several girl and boybands, including former X Factor act One Direction.

The eight-piece Stereo Kicks are the sole remaining boyband in the group, being joined in Walsh's category by mixed boy/girl group Only The Young.

Agreed, the themes only ever favour the cheesy acts anyway.

I actually do like some cheesy acts this year (Andrea and OTY, Stevi and Jake have made me laugh sometimes) but the alternative acts always fall victims to these themes in particular, the new victims this series seem to be Ben, Chloe, and Jack (who will soon be in Chloe's position now) and it won't be too long before they start to turn on Fleur, Lauren for the Pop singers is too credible for the show and will go down the same way that Sophie Habibis did.

I think Simon & Louis won't be happy until the public are worshipping Jay, Lola, and Stereo Kicks, safe, boring, Pop, and cheesy, and in all cases they have people finding them attractive too.
