Does it still get you excited? If so, you may need to go on a list.

I think I need to be strapped down to watch xmas adverts cause every year I want to join the hype but I can't be bothered with the idea of just sitting there and watching a long ass advert. :bawling:

Just seen Lynda Bellinghams Christmas Oxo advert.
It is getting shown on Christmas Day, all the production etc will be free.
The company are making a donation to one of Lynda's charities.

This is an amazing advert, though I do sorta understand the unease about it expressed in this article: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/nov/13/sainsburys-christmas-ad-first-world-war?CMP=fb_gu&commentpage=1

Saw that last night, brilliant ad. Calling it dangerous and disrespectful is probably a bit too far as its a factual story of what happened on Christmas day and not a reflection on the war as a whole.

I think the Sainsburys advert is about as good as it gets.
Certainly for the adults, makes you think, Christmas is for sharing.

As to it being disrespectful..does the fella that wrote the article realise it was made in collaboration with the British Legion?

Perfect for this particular Christmas seeing as it is a 100 years since The Great War started.

Totally agree with you Smudgie.

Looks like the bar of chocolate in the advert will be in a lot of Christmas stockings.
Goes on sale from tomorrow at a £1 a bar, all profits going to the British Legion.
Good on you Sainsburys.

It's not an accurate representation granted but it's important to maintain the feeling of goodwill and humanity, I think the message is if they could do then and there it we damn well should be able to today.

My other fave is the boots one, the rest are rubbish.

Me too. Has it all started really early this year, or does it just feel like that?

I'm not sure but that's exactly what I was thinking too, although someone on here did say the john lewis advert was released at the same time last year.

Really? Seems like it's been on for weeks and weeks. Actually I saw the first Christmas ad before Halloween. And there are loads of Christmas films on the telly and shops are playing Christmas tunes. Seems early to me but maybe I'm just being a bit Humbug.

I think I must be being a bit of a scrooge this year too then, I was shocked that C5 had Christmas movies playing all day Sunday of last weekend and that was only the 9th of November.

And Matt I have already watched Bad Santa, The National Lampoons, The Santa Claus and Polar Express but that's only because they were on tv.

Love Bad Santa... I watched Polar Express and a handful of trashy American TV films where everything always works out and it inevitably snows. I'll try to summon up some festive spirit when December arrives.
