What is the joke here?... I don't get it.
She was crossing a zebra and the car should have stopped, they drove away because they knew they were in trouble.

I have watched this afew times I don't think the car drove off...if you look he is indicating. I think the driver is a guy in a grey t shirt who comes and stands by....
Fault on both side, she wasn't actually on the crossing, she ran diagonally without looking and for the driver probably came out of nowhere but the driver should have been more aware.
Just glad it looks like she wasn't too badly hurt

Jeez that looked bad, the car shouldn't have driven off but at the same time you're supposed to stop and make sure it's safe before you cross even if it's a zebra crossing, she just took off, she didn't give the car a lot of time to react (although he should have slowed down and been more cautious coming up to a zebra crossing)
Edit : just read Annie's post, glad he didn't drive away

She was not crossing at a zebra crossing, she ran diagonally across it and was hit off the crossing. The driver (who I dont think did drive off but stopped) had no time to see her as she ran behind him.
Cars are not required to stop there if there are no people waiting to cross and pedestrians should not expect cars to stop if you are running to the crossing from behind it.

Isn't that guy in the grey the guy who is jogging down the pavement at the start of the video?
Did they drive off? Why was she running across it though?

She was a child running ...a hazard . imo she should have been seen.

I don't think we should be making jokes when she's obviously seriously injured either.

That's a bit cruel when you're talking about a child. She should have been more careful crossing the road yes and the driver should have been more cautious driving through a zebra crossing

I agree although she should have looked too....
I do hope she was arrested for traumatising that poor driver

Omg awful. Why didn't the car stop? And really she should have been more careful. Maybe she thought the car would stop? Haha.
I can't really talk though I got hit in a similar way in December but by a motorcycle. He did stop but the claimed he had to go pick up his daughter and left. Still have the scar on my head and can still claim compensation. That moment you get hit really feels like you're on a rollercoaster and you only realize what happens when you're on the floor.

Looks like a Teen to me,
She should be competent enough to look both ways.

As hilarious as it was that she ran STRAIGHT into it, I think the fault lies on more than one person here.
Seriously though, it's not like she tried to dart past the front of a car or owt, she literally ran into the wheel arch, is she blind? :laugh2:

She darted across the road without even looking! The driver's view was obstructed by the black car going the other way, how would he know some knuckleheaded kid was going to run across the road in front of him? You're supposed to wait at a crossing until the traffic stops. The driver didn't drive away, he was clearly pulling in to the side of the road because as we all know, you are not allowed to stop on the zigzags of a crossing for any reason.

I agree. Any one of us could have been driving that car. I'm not sure any of us would be so stupid as to run across a crossing without looking.

The car hit her off the crossing which could be important but I think the driver did not stop looking again at the vid, in that case that driver is fecked when they get him/her.

Yes very brutal
..wow, I hope she's ok...to me they both seemed to be at fault..she ran from the other side of the road so he had time to see her, she didn't just dash out from his side but obviously she was very silly as well...it was really unclear whether he stopped but if he didn't, I think he'll be fairly screwed...

I think it's clearly her fault. You're not meant to run across the road, also she is supposed to stop at the central traffic island.
I do hope she wasn't seriously hurt.

I agree she didn't do what she was supposed to do and I feel bad for the driver but as much as she was supposed to stop and make sure the road was clear he was supposed to slow right down coming to a zebra crossing and make sure no one was trying to cross. It will more than likely end up falling on him because drivers (rightly or wrongly) usually have to be more responsible than pedestrians on the road (here anyway)

I hit an 8 year old girl a good few years back who ran across the road in the same way.
the girl made a mistake, we all make mistakes, but she will be someone's child,
there seems to be a lot of heatless members on here
the driver was not at fault.

Yep I don't know the rules of driving but slowing down coming to a zebra crossing makes sense, so I guess yea he's ultimately to blame.

Yeah especially at a crossing like this which is always gonna be constantly busy, she was very careless but he should have been slowing down anyway which would have given him time to react to her crossing the road especially when as Ammi mentioned she crossed from the other side of the road

i think she might of been ok if she stay on the crossing as the impact was not on the crossing it self just bad timing as the car that hit her had no other cars behind it

Kids are sometimes stupid and dash into roads... It isn't funny when they get knocked down though is it? so the 'lol' and 'lmao' comments are nasty and unnecessary whoever was at fault.

Tbh though if she walked away from it completely unscathed, just a bit of bruising or something, she won't learn and most likely would do something equally stupid again.

..I think she would learn though Creggle..it's like IthinkIloveyoutoo said, she was hit by a motorcycle and something like that/the impact and what might have been is not something that would leave you..and the same for the driver as well..(I hope he/she did stop btw...)...there is no question that the pedestrian did wrong but the whole point at crossings is to be aware of pedestrians/slow down sufficiently to be able to stop and she came right across the road from the other side so they did have time to see her and should have..I can only assume they were just looking straight ahead..?..which would be negligent/careless...the 'what could have been' is also something they will learn from as I do think there was equal fault here...

What, so serious injury is the only way to teach kids to be safe on roads?
I have been both saddened and sickened by some of the comments in this thread. Maybe I don't watch enough GTA but just the sight of the accident upsets me.
She must have thought the approaching car would stop as it should as she ran and only attempted to swerve when she noticed it hadn't, the car never even attempted to brake... the didn't see her coming at all which as said approaching a zebra crossing is negligent.

Daily Mail doing their usual thing of picking up on something viral days later: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2829888/Caught-CCTV-Horrifying-moment-woman-hit-car-Abbey-Road-zebra-crossing-famous-Beatles-album-cover.html
Does clear up some things though:
Despite many thinking the driver of the vehicle fled the scene, according to staff at the recording studio, they pulled over to help.
A spokesperson said: 'Our security team recognised it as an incident which occurred over a year ago.
'The motorist concerned did actually stop at the scene to offer assistance.'
