You don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but if you do... what is your religion? Any reason for this one in specific?

I don't have one. But I have the absolute utmost respect for those who do, as long as they don't try and convert me.

Wish more people were like this, but sadly people think that they can force people to agree with them

Why is Catholic separate from Christian but Protestantism or Mormonism isn't just out of curiosity?

That's actually me, but I branched that off as non-religious since you don't have to believe in a God of some sort.

Not sure there's enough options on the poll creator to do all the religions/denominations justice on a multinational forum like this so putting the ones with the biggest following is probably the logical choice.

An 'other' option though would scoop up anything else no problem though like you suggested but sometimes you forget these things until it's done. I've botched enough polls in my time on here

Offensive in what way? These were the ones most commonly affiliated with in the UK, I wouldn't include something like Zoroastrianism as obviously it's very minor and unheard of.

It's not faith I have a problem with, but religion itself when it's responsible for a hell of a lot of hatred around the world.

Roman Catholic, it is the faith I was brought up in, so much of it I cannot now go along with but I have never changed or completely given it up so I guess I remain a RC.

I'm a fairly committed agnostic though I have a lot of academic interest in religion - mainly Christianity - because it's so central to what I study. I do also quite like the aesthetics of religion, houses of worship are often the most interesting places to see and the most incredibly designed structures with so much thought and detail gone into them, it's hard not to appreciate

My course is in Early Modern History mainly focusing on England in the 16th and 17th centuries, probably the period with the most religious upheavals basically lol

i don't understand this. You've heard how horrible god is. he's homophobic and misogysnistic, and he makes people worship him, and if you don't worship him well enough he punishes them.

would you really want to spend an eternity with a god like that?>

I don't believe in god.

but even if i did think god is real i wouldn't want to live in his kingdom. god sounds like a dick. spending eternity worshiping him doesn't appeal to me at all.

I would prefer oblivion to having to worship an evil piece of **** like God for all eternity.

If you want to be pedantic about and split hairs over language use that's up to you but I think it's pretty clear that I wasn't calling him an idiot in the academic sense so whatever university he graduated from doesn't change my opinion one bit. He's a fool then, 'a person who acts unwisely or imprudently'. I think that's a pretty accurate description for him and whether you agree or not that's just my personal view.

Agnostic means that you believe it can't truly be proved or disproved as to whether God(s) exists. That nothing can be known of the nature of a divine being's potential existence beyond anything material. In essence, it's not claiming or rejecting the idea of God but simply claiming that we don't know either way.

I prefer that line of thinking to atheism. Atheism is a little harsh for my tastes.

I think alot of agnostic people when they say they think there might be "something", doesn't necessarily mean they think it might be the God/Gods put forward to us by religions. For me *if* there is some sort of higher power that was responsible in some way for our existence, I don't think it was in a way where we were created in their image or are being watched over or anything, I don't think we're that significant in the grand scheme of things
