View Full Version : Not getting the Fleury love

She performed a song she already knew the lyrics of so had an advantage over most of the other contestants, rapped which was not in keeping with the theme, you could argue she put her own spin on it, but none of the others were allowed such licence :idc: and the judges are falling over themselves when her vocal actually was not great, plus she was the only one with family on the audience :idc: not a fan!

Her singing was very poor I thought.
I usually like the urban-y acts and I did like Fleur up until the live shows, but I haven't been impressed with her at all since they started.

and yet it's been out the shortest length of time, so that's hardly an excuse. time for the others to brush up on their repertoires if they want to be professional singers.

there was a big band there, how else wasn't it in the theme?

the only family that was interviewed, you mean. Every week their family members/friends are in the audience
really Cherie, you're going to have to try better than that.

She performed the song at judges houses, what other act has reprised a song they performed during auditions?

The theme is swing...rapping?

:suspect: Nobody else performing tonight had their family interviewed.. Coincidence. ..? She is getting favourable treatment :fist:

Stereo Kicks were just about to do 'Mirrors' until Louis forced Mack the Knife on them (they did Mirrors at JH)
Only the Young have done a song they've already put on YouTube
The theme is swing...rapping?
Pretty sure it was 'big band' actually.

Andrea's family, Jay's wife and kid, and Ben's mum have also been pretty heavily featured the past two weeks.

Stereo Kicks was vocally way stronger than Fleur, and that's hard for me to say as I normally prefer Hip-hop Music to Boyband Pop Music.
I honestly think that some people want to hear what they want to hear from Fleur, and because SK are a boyband people actually can't comprehend that they can actually outsing more than just Jay James and Stevi Ritchie on the night.

Not a fan of hers whatsoever, however I don't see the problem with her already knowing the lyrics. Anybody who performs a favourite song of theirs on a show like X Factor probably knows most of the lyrics already.

Personally I don't care about knowing the lyrics before stuff.
I however do care about her being allowed to not do a Big Band song and still add a rap into the performance when everybody else had to adhere to the theme, and we all know that if any other act cheated the theme and played to their strengths they would've been crucified.

She had a big band playing for god's sake. That's hardly going against the theme. What do you want her to do? Sing a song from the 1940's? http://cdn.thisisbigbrother.com/smilies/umm2.gif
Only the Young played to their strengths by performing one of the songs they already covered in the live shows during Halloween week while nobody else got that privilege. I didn't see you crucify them for "cheating" by "playing to their strengths" http://cdn.thisisbigbrother.com/smilies/umm2.gif

Nobody expects OTY to win, A potential winner shouldn't have to reprise songs at this stage of the competition.

That's ridiculous. Only the Young are potential winners, since they still have a chance of winning the competition. Just because "nobody expects them to win" doesn't mean that they're exempt from certain rules.

I think she is the most current contestant left and certainly the coolest over we have ever had. She has the potential to be pretty successful.
Ben is still my favourite but I really love Fleur. Not everyone will like everyone so there will be people that love her and some people who won't same with every other act. I for one will say I don't really like Andrea or Lauren and there are so many people on here who like them. So it depends on your personal preferences.
Yes on Saturday it was an odd song choice, it didn't really fit big band week and she sounded a bit shouty to be honest but she certainly performed.
If you think that was odd for the theme, check out the song choices they had in X factor usa big band week, they even had a rascal flatts song so I don't think bang bang was that far away from the theme to be honest.
Let's all love who we want to love and not question other peoples tastes on music.

Well I think it's self-explanatory that Bang Bang is not a Big Band song.
Btw what did you think of Jamie Archer when he did Angel Of Harlem by U2 on Big Band week of his series? Did you say that he had a Big Band playing tbf to him? Because I remember a lot of people that are defending Fleur on here and DS ripped Jamie apart in his series when he did it.

The purpose of Big Band week isn't for there to be a jazzy theme tho; it's mostly for the acts to sing with a big band behind them. http://www.heartbreakers.me/public/style_emoticons/default/cry.png
To be honest, I didn't pay any attention to him. I only watched the series for Kandy Rain, Miss Frank and Joe. http://www.heartbreakers.me/public/style_emoticons/default/cry.png But I don't think I would've had a problem with it if he performed the song with a big band behind him

Well apart from the odd exception every theme (especially Big Band) normally has them types of songs being performed so I think it is a requirement.
I do agree with you though that Big Band should allow for other types of songs to be picked but that's not really the rules hence why Fleur and Jamie cheated, but conveniently the judges didn't pick up on Fleur's.

In all fairness, I'm pretty sure that by now everyone on the show knows about 90% of the songs they perform beforehand, i don't see how having knowledge of a song is an advantage.. As if Ben didn't know the lyrics to Cry Me A River, or Andrea didn't know the words to Summertime.

You can't claim that with any certainty can you, a lot of the contestants get songs they don't know and they have to learn the lyrics which takes time way from practising their performance.

Lets not forget that Fleur has been singing for a long time and so has Ben, they're bound to have more music knowledge than everyone else, you can't put them down for knowing songs that are given to them, it's not their fault and it's not cheating.
