I heard on RI:SE this morning that apparently all the FA contestants, including David, have been banned from the Brits this year.

I haven't been able to find an article that backs this up so I don't know if it is true, it was just a throw away comment from that awful guy who presents RI:SE.

This story is from today's Daily Star:

Brits bosses have barred reality telly stars from next week's bash - saying they don't want it overrun with "TV show puppets".

Organisers said "proper" chart stars might have been irritated by the small screen newcomers at the Mastercard Brit Awards 2003.

The snub means none of last year's famous names - including Girls Aloud, One True Voice, David Sneddon and Sinead Quinn will be anywhere near Earls Court in London next Thursday.

But Will Young and Gareth Gates are said to have earned their right to be there. They've been nominated for gongs after spending a year in the "real world".

Yesterday a senior Brits source admitted that the snub to Fame Academy and Pop Stars The Rivals was aimed at making sure the annual bash remained "classy".

The insider said "We made a decision that the Brits had to reflect what the public are buying, not just what's on TV.

"We did not want to be overloaded with reality TV show puppets. Instead, we have the cream of genuine international artists".

That means the likes of Coldplay, MsDynamite, Avril Lavigne, Sugababes, Pink and Justin Timberlake.

My source added "Two years ago Hearsay were given a chance to perform. Others started booing.

"So now it's only people who have earned their spurs who can come"

When I called the reality stars spokesmen they confirmed that all had other engagements.

Yeah, but I'm sure they'd have dropped them for a chance to schmooze at the biggest music event in the UK calendar.
So not just Fame Academy people, but Popstars the Rivals bands as well.

Mind you, it may be for the best - weren't Hear'say booed at last year's show? It really wasn't pleasant to watch.

Still not fair, though.

I hope David Sneddon, like Will Young and Gareth Gates before him, will have "earned his spurs" by next year.

I think that is a bit unfair. They have earned what they have done and they are normal people who have a like in music and the like.
I can see where they are coming from but I think it is unfair to say that by these attending, the show wont be as classy.:nono:

i thought David won tickets to go to the Brits! and i dont really think Gareth has "earned" his right to tbe there after all his covers and puppetness. what a load of rubbish. i would have thought some ppl were grateful for FA cos it taught them and encouraged them not to be puppets and to write their own material from the start. grrrr.:nono:

I thought David Sneddon's live performance of "Living the Lie" on Top of the Tops a couple of weeks ago was one of the musical performances I've seen on TV in ages and I think he has already earned his place! It's a shame that all the "reality TV" stars get lumped together.

I wonder if those Russian girls from tATu will be there - they fall into the same category as Girls Aloud for me. Good song but all drummed up by publicity and hype!

Hi Amy. :wavey:

Yes, I did see David and Sinead at the Brits - they were both having a great time dancing along to Tom Jones (who sounded great but looked   -- what's with the stupid beard??)

So much for the tabloid drivel about them being banned - we fell for their 'incorrect reporting' again!

Talking of the Brits . . . . . don't think anyone else has mentioned this, but . . . . . .

:hello: :dazzler: :hello: :dazzler:Congratulations, Will :hello: :dazzler: :hello: :dazzler:

on winning the Brit Award for Best British Breakthrough Artist

He was absolutely gobsmacked when his name was announced, and Nicki Chapman and Gareth both looked absolutely delighted for him.

Maybe now all the 'doubters' who said he was a flash in the pan will sit up and give him the credit he deserves. A Brit Award is one of the highest accolates in the British Music Industry, and Breakthrough Artist is one of the most sought after.

Fan-bloody-tastic! I'm so pleased for him. And he looked gorgeous as ever -loved the ripped t-shirt!
